@Art Davis Watercolor interesting observation. :) The original melody becomes more like a recitative sometimes and this is always difficult to express on the instrument - things you can get away with when you’re working with human voice and lyrics just don't translate well to instrumental versions. This is something I’ve learned early in my arranging journey and I’ve developed a few tricks to handle it, but those are always the spots that either make the arrangement or break it.
