okay before anyone asks , im a singaporean and yes singapore's cost of living is indeed high , but this place that they visited , toa payoh , is an older estate of singapore and thus food there is much more valuable and cheap , food there taste damnnn good too. @@AuskaDezjArdamaath No, I imagine they mean 'estates' as in 'housing estates'. If you check out the "Public Housing in Singapore" article on Wikipedia, it's a really interesting read.
I lived in Singapore as a kid from 89-99, and haven't been back since my family moved to the US. Now my wife and I are planning our late honeymoon to Singapore next year, and one of the things I'm most excited about is revisiting my family's old weekend stomping grounds, Toa Payoh Central lol. I already plan on starting with Goreng Pisang and a butterfly bun in the morning!
Geez, the more I see your Hawker videos, the more I wanna visit Singapore. We don't have any hawkers here in Canada, at least in my province, and I find them incredibly interesting. Hope to visit Singapore when it's safe to do so
Hawkers are unique to Singapore which is what makes them special. Great quality food for cheap but just be mindful of the crowded environment especially at night. I always love to eat omlettes there, they prepare the best omlettes!
These videos always make me hungry but also make me appreciate just how hard these people work to earn a living. You can see how so many of them are elders who have been doing this for years and it's amazing.

chendol looks so interesting… from my point of view it looks more like a main dish than a dessert…. minus the shaved ice of course. definitely something I would love to try. Dang! Been years watching dancing bacon but just know that it provides the caption for every components in video. Everytime I just interpreted by myself
wow! i see that the food we have has so many similarities. different names, look about the same. i already can imagine the taste because of the familiarity.
Uncle Roger would freak out if he sees rice being used like this... Also the sugarcane juice is far the best drink I ever had. There is this Chinese plaza where this guy sells a large jug of freshly squeezed sugar cane juice for no more than ten bucks. Good value. But that was like a few years ago since I last had that, I don’t even know if that guy is still selling it especially during this time of year...
He isn't going to freak out because not only is it a commonly eaten Chinese food, it is also prevalent in Singapore and Malaysia so he probably grew up eating those.
19:15 is called an envelope ✉️ coz it shapes like one.. I remembered that they come in various flavours.. durian.. banana 🍌.. peanut 🥜 butter.. which is just had today. Easy to eat even if you’ve no teeth 🦷 coz it’s so thin and crisp
