Thats where I got the cylinder kit from. I called them and they do not sell that bolt to fit my 390 kit..go figure.I have a bolt supplier I can get to for it. Does the bolt have a standard lock washer or just a plain washer? Thanks for all your help.
Lol, that is where I got mine from, I can't believe they did not know they had it. The link I posted above is the one you need. It needs to have a sealing washer on it. The stihl parrt number is 1122 025 2200. These plugs really should be apart of the kit.
It runs great. Here are more videos of it and some mods I did to it. th-cam.com/video/MFUQnlrM4ms/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/REKjVUxauXQ/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/NOQQc2XVUTI/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/GSA0P6uEaUo/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/Dp-wb8g8tdg/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/LYC40dVbTBI/w-d-xo.html
What is going to happen if you put the piston in and the arrow is pointing towards the carburetor?
There is a good possibility a ring will catch in the exhaust port.
need to do the muffler mod on these saws, has a pretty resrictive muffler
I did muffler mod and showed a before and after. I did a whole series on mods for these saws.
@@TractorTech ill check it out thanks!
Very informative. Would this be identical to a ms310? I need to replace my rear handle. Is the teardown the same as your ms290?
Thanks! Yes, the procedure would be the same for a MS310.
How did you tighten the clutch with the cam moving? I'm assembling my 390 as I watch your video.
It just needs snugged down. When the clutch engages, the engine will tighten it. If it was right hand threads it would be tough to keep it tight.
Thanks for replying. I'm having a rough time finding a bolt to plug the compression hole. What size bolt did you use?
I ordered a bunch of these. www.hlsproparts.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=H11999
I believe it is a M10x1.0

Approximately how much did your parts bill run for this rebuild?
The piston/ cylinder, pop up piston, and bearings were around $150.
Forgot to show clutch drum align with oil pump drive
It will align as soon as the saw starts and the clutch engages.
