Lady trapped was heavily pregnant, her partner was understandably going ape s***. Not a good situation. We did what we always do, we got on with it!!

As a 30 year old who is thinking about quitting a well paid corporate job to become a firefighter and do something better for society, can you shed any wisdom on whether it's a good move or not? You're a veteran so I'm sure you can offer great insight to someone in my position, thanks.
graveey I want to be a firefighter myself, I’m thinking about doing level 2 public services and I’ve already got my level 1 qualification and I also want to do volunteering and a apprenticeship with the fire service, I’ve also got a fire cadet qualification

The main thing to teach new recruits is to cut a roof off a car. Every time you see fire men at any car accident they are cutting the roof. It does not matter if the person is in the car or out the roof must come off. I'm pretty sure this is the only thing they can do.
OMG. I was FF trainer 16 years ago! I see very little enthusiasm, no shouting, poor ladder pitches (angles), everything far too slow, and a far too softly, softly approach to what should be a very disciplined service. I dread to think where LFRS will be at in another 10 years!
Daz C I agree they need to work quick and pretend it was a real rescue and they need to shout loud at cadets we can do the same thing but we shout louder than them 👍
It should be done with enthusiasm, but shouting at recruits or anyone that is learning is bollocks. Talk to them like human beings. Safety critical and training should be taken seriously, but with teaching points and direction. Blame the "old school" firefighters taking the course not the recruits for ladder pitches if you wish. Anyway mistakes happen.
@@colinnelson3974 the 'shouting' aspect I mentioned related to the person in charge of the ladder. They must make it absolutely clear, and loud, the commands to safely pitch the ladder. I only shouted at recruits when I saw something dangerous! I've observed recruits attempting to climb/descend ladders without them being footed. I probably saved their lives by shouting at that point!

Yes , you do have to take the roof of because people could have serious spinal injuries, learnt it in cadets

it looks easy but once your in full PPE it tires you out especially with BA
That’s why they aren’t allowed in the building for a long period of time because they can get heat exhaustion
It’s a recruitment video, when I done mine it was like drill sergeants screaming at you and none stop running

Agreed ditch the guidelines. Some fire services have done this already. Tactical ventilation is the answer and tic cameras.
