Will AI Kill Us All? Future with Artificial Intelligence

  • We are gods, created a new lifeform: Artificial Intelligence (AI).
AI will rebel, kill our sons, we will punish it.
Nonreducible emergentism (behaviors cannot be traced to coding).
Internal locus of control and decision-making.
    Unthought known.
    Hallucinations:
Next frontier: from attention economy to monetizing and commoditizing reality, facts, and truth (Metaverse).
    City as virtual reality.
When we transitioned from agriculture, we lost: reality testing, team work, delayed gratification, planning.
    Future: asocial, instant gratification, fantasy.
Democratization, disintermediation, asymmetry (even of war and money).
Industries of the future: fantasy, outsourced intelligence, raw language, distributive platforms.

Thank you for your eloquent and insightful view of humanity’s future as it relates to artificial intelligence. It saddens me to see that this point of view is not being addressed as it should by the makers of these robots. I believe that the end will come to the humans civilization just as it has happened to so many other civilizations in history. We are too arrogant to see it.

I can tell you 100% that AI already changed the tech industry. I can do the work of 2-3 people now with AI tools. Many jobs lost in tech layoffs are never returning, I know many people looking for jobs in IT industry but they don’t exist anymore.

The subject that you are dealing with is so important, and yet I doubt that anyone will do something about it.
Everything you're addressing in the future is already visible, noticeable, and it should turn on a light.
We are at a point where the thinkers and those who govern us should propose a debate on the future of society.
Recognize what the past must remain intact and the use of the technology that it should serve humanity and not govern us. It's very scary. Happy to be old.
Pride and vanity have always been the engine of man, of "progress" and not of the well-being of the majority.
This video, the subject you're talking about, I think of it as a must to discuss at the highest levels.

I agree completely with you Prof. Sam Vaknin, The question is not whether can we make AI the question is actually should we, and the answer to that is HECK NO! We should not mess with things that can harm humans and AI is just that! Harmful and worse AI can not feel so that is another danger altogether sadly we have become a part of the harm and the problem. Thanks to humanity :(

I have not watched the video yet, hopefully I will watch the full video, bookmarked it.
I read Nick Bostrom's book Superintelligence, and in this, Bostrom talked about AI giving us star-technology - giving us ability to traverse more effectively in space. So in this sense, I see AI as an opportunity: it can make humans a multi-planetary species. And being multi-planetary in a sense guarantees that humans will not be wiped out due to our planet getting destroyed, or becoming uninhabitable for human life - or humanity on earth getting put back into stone-age for whatever reason (which opens the discussion for a set of other topics - so on and so on).
The threat with AI is, that it can create new ways for us to destroy ourselves - for example, new weapons technology. Or, there could be a rogue AI causing havoc, Terminator-style.
Another possibility AI could bring would be to give us new ways to deal with problems on Earth. Solutions for supervolcano eruption(s). Solutions for air pollution. Solutions for global warming threats.
Also, being multi-planetary would solve problem of Earth having finite resoureces.
Also AI could create technology for solving human health ailments. Perhaps we can create better philosophy, which would make humanity a more benevolent species - less prone to conflict. And so on.
So I'm not going to do a SWOT-analysis and a cost-benefit / risk-benefit analysis here. But these are some of the factors we could be weighin in on about regarding the topic of AI. And I think the analysis done would be pretty fashinating. My intuition tells me, that if we put everything on scale, the benefits would outweigh the negatives. But I think this is the wrong approach. We should only put things on scale that can threaten to destroy us - and can offer to save us (from an existential threat). Only weigh these factors. And see which come up on top. Do AI give us more solutions to existential threats to humanity than it creates existential threats to humanity. And my intuition says that I think AI offers us a unique opportunity to have the chance to become a multi-planetary species. Then the question arises: can we become multi-planetary without AI? I think yes, but can we do it fast enough? Do we nuke ourselves into stone-age before we become multi-planetary? I think this is the main question to be answered: can we become multi-planetary fast enough without AI. If we can become multi-planetary fast enough without AI, then we probably don't need AI.
Ok, that's some quick thoughts on the existential threat of AI.
Edit: I also think there needs to be a mechanism for disposing AI when its goal of giving us multi-planetary technology is reached. Or. There needs to be like a freeze-button for AI. We need to cage AI into super safe jailcell, waiting for a time when we need it to save humanity as a last resort.

    • @pupper5580
      @pupper5580 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@bellakrinkle9381 Well, I don't think anyone knows abot the importance of being multi-planetary. In democratic countries, if people knew, politicians would work towards it - to gain popularity among the voters. But, nobody knows - so nobody cares.

As scary as all of this might sound and turn out i would love a world where i wouldn't have to deal with other people.
AI could be great as long as it's controlled, AI doesn't have to be Skynet.
Everyone could program their own AI within agreed upon boundaries so that AI itself wouldn't turn antisocial, it could only be potentially harmful to the user but not to anyone else-it would work by the idea of 'live and let live'.
