One of the best battles I've ever seen, Tony D is the goat of the UK scene, but Georgie stood toe to toe and more than held his own. Incredible, this is what rap battles are about.

Georgie Roots would have bodied 95% of the UK (Gem, Soul, Shuffle n Osh being the exception) battle rap scene with that performance.... but Tony D just shows once again why he is the best in the game... to hold up so good against an on form Tony is an achievement in itself... no bodybag in sight but still gave 3-0 to Tony. this was probably the best battle i seen in a good while :D

Georgie wasn't ready at this point, but demonstrated that with some more time served he's more than capable of reaching that tier.
A bit like when your little bro challenges you, you win, but you can tell that in future he could probably surpass you.

This might be my battle of the year. this was raw oldschool battle rap and being outside just made it more like home.
Been a few good battles and announcements recently. UK battle rap looking better than it has in quite some time.

One of the best battles i ever seen
Firstly, with this and Unan vs Crash SHOUT OUTs to No Loose Chat for bringing the culture back. Considering how dead the scene has been for how long, such a lack of ring rust here. Wouldn’t put it near my favourite battles, but in terms of setting a blueprint for the next generation this is a huge achievement
Georgie - sorry if calling you George from now on is a problem it’s just easier
The judging system people use for battle rap is really stupid, because the point of the battle is to get the last word, tie it together, round 1 and round 3 do not have the same value; the best example in recent years being Mook vs Tay Roc, the first two rounds were entirely irrelevant.
So a battle should heighten every round. Both battlers did very well with this, they warmed up in the first, caught fire in the second, and ended with why they’re the best. A good sense of beginning, middle and end. But there are examples of things being out of place.
Tony was way better in introducing himself. He’s the king of that. George was warming up for the first minute or two. Front ‘cat’s cradles’ on is how he should have started the round, and he ended strong but how you start in R1 is so important, first impressions matter. Tony has always had a gift at the first round, able to style on people with it being a showcase for his rapping. But this caused him problems later by putting R1 material in R3.
The problem I had with Tony’s second is that he didn’t explain what George said that was racist. I’m not going to go back and watch it to see if he was right or wrong, it’s Tony’s job to tell me. So even though the bars were great, he just needed to give me the context, otherwise it’s an accusation without a back up. With George’s main schemes on Tony leaving the scene, it was very good how he built the argument round by round but… Tony’s a man who is what - 40? And he can’t focus on his family for a few years? With KOTD losing all relevance since Drake hosted blackout 6 or 7 years back, how would Tony ever get the attention to make it to top tier Gramercy Hall URL? He doesn’t have an American fan base. But the idea that Tony let the scene die and stepped aside is still a very good angle. The idea that he left the trenches, didn’t go out of his way, one battle every couple of years, these were all subtle, intelligent ideas that built on each other across the second and third.
With the third round, Tony’s George Best/ person of interest scheme would be perfect for the first round, because Tony is saying why does George deserve him as an opponent? It’s a great introduction. Then the rest of the third is great with ‘Arsonal and Clips came to me’, but that was a long time ago. By calling himself one of the Gods, that kind of fits into George’s argument. The Gods used to be on earth and are now dead.
So to me, George won the battle. If Tony had put in context for what George said that was racist and also had a moment where he pointed out being a middle aged battle rapper is ridiculous and it’s ok to take some time to be creative, that he’d been recharging his batteries, he had so much creativity in this battle it would have won him it. Tony is to me unquestionably the best British battle rapper (O’Shea did most for the scene, so honourable mention) and he had a huge home advantage.
