In the first year of my college we were give different subjects of different departments but from second year the course curriculum changes and you only get department related courses with enough labs and course projects. Also theoretical knowledge is essential for anyone because it will give you a great insight into how things got formulated in the first place and you can't avoid competition anywhere if you want to step further. Even if you are a good software developer many of you dream companies will start with a coding test, the works you have done will be of great help in technical interviews but first you have to clear those exams

In IIT you'll get average 2-3 cr package outside india that too it's the highest package & Purchase power parity is also there it means you are earning 1.5 crore lpa as a fresher but for this you've to work like a donkey which is not in the case of experienced sde like my relative, less work + high wage..

I heard all of this nonsense at my coaching institute. Supposedly to motivate, but mostly made me anxious and doubtful of my capabilities. Constantly compared myself with others and found myself lacking. Wrote JEE Mains and cleared it but couldn't clear Advanced. I thought my IIT dream ended there. I thought I would be a nobody because of all the dumb B.S that my coaching institute fed me in the name of motivation. I had failed and that was that. I went on to do my B.Tech at a fairly reputed college in Kerala, worked for two years at an ed-tech, wrote the CAT exam and now I am pursuing my MBA at India's oldest IIT - IIT Kharagpur. Yes give it your best shot, but if you don't make it, trust me there are other things, better things waiting for you. Everything in its own time. And its own place. P.S. Don't believe that your life is set if you get into an IIT. Life will always be a struggle. Just slightly better struggles.

Toppers are just hardworkers and discliplined people and they tend to study topics earlier than other students. Take a IQ test 90percent toppers and average students will score between 90-100. Its just about tactics and how much advanced prep u did. (I gave JEE in 2019. MY jee adv rank 1800. I did it in drop year. If i had prepared earlier from class 10th maybe I could have achieved a rank of 500< :))

Got 25 marks in jee, 68% in 10th and 70% in 12th , still got the job with 40+ package from tier 3 college , interestingly the topper whom i knows from class 10 who got 95% in 10th , was not able to crack even mass recruiter in college and hence unemployed There was a time when i used to feel low because of comparison. I heard all of this nonsense at my coaching institute. Supposedly to motivate, but mostly made me anxious and doubtful of my capabilities. Constantly compared myself with others and found myself lacking. Wrote JEE Mains and cleared it but couldn't clear Advanced. I thought my IIT dream ended there. I thought I would be a nobody because of all the dumb B.S that my coaching institute fed me in the name of motivation. I had failed and that was that. I went on to do my B.Tech at a fairly reputed college in Kerala, worked for two years at an ed-tech, wrote the CAT exam and now I am pursuing my MBA at India's oldest IIT - IIT Kharagpur. Yes give it your best shot, but if you don't make it, trust me there are other things, better things waiting for you. Everything in its own time. And its own place.
P.S. Don't believe that your life is set if you get into an IIT. Life will always be a struggle. Just slightly better struggles.

Toppers are just hardworkers and discliplined people and they tend to study topics earlier than other students. Take a IQ test 90percent toppers and average students will score between 90-100. Its just about tactics and how much advanced prep u did. (I gave JEE in 2019. MY jee adv rank 1800. I did it in drop year. If i had prepared earlier from class 10th maybe I could have achieved a rank of 500< :))

Got 25 marks in jee, 68% in 10th and 70% in 12th , still got the job with 40+ package from tier 3 college , interestingly the topper whom i knows from class 10 who got 95% in 10th , was not able to crack even mass recruiter in college and hence unemployed
