My first and favorite Nasomatto. It's a masculine, comforting, versatile forest scent. Not a dank vetevier. Nostalgic and mysterious at the same time. Niche perfection.
I love your description of this fragrance Paul...what an awesome olfactory connection💫 Thanks for jumping into the conversation @pauljoseph1444 great to hear from you
The opening on this fragrance smelled juicy to me, kind of like dark, overripe fruit. I haven't heard anyone else say that though. Is it just me? Also, very interesting that Alessandro Gualtieri won't reveal the notes. Admittedly, I have no idea what wormwood smells like, so I can't speak to that. I know this is supposed to be primarily woody and green, but it also smells spicy (in a peppery, herbal way) and a bit floral to me. Could be the geraniol or linalool maybe?? Take this with a grain of salt; I am new to fragrances, after all.
Thanks Blake, great to hear from you and thanks for your kind words. If you want to try ‘hardest to wear’….have you tried ‘Hyde’ by Hiram Green? This one is smoke on overdrive…..make sure you don’t spray on clothes cos I think the juice will stain! I’d be curious to know what you think of this one Great to hear from you Blake! Thanks for sharing👊🏽
The story about you introducing Nasomatto to yourself is so true. That's absolutely how you first feel Nasomatto(or perhaps any niche). At first when i knew nothing about niche and was about to buy designer hermes or something else from the drugstore, my friend introduced me to niche and nasomatto, I thought that's some old stuff for grandys and grannys, that scents you feel when some "artistic" grandad or granny from the church passes by you (most of nasomatto reviews are actually like that lol). So I was so confused and thought those scents are for some old people that had their sense of smell weakened so they wear some weird strong scents. But it took time. It definitely will take some time for you to understand it, but those scents are just masterpiece, right after you dive into the niche world. Im 19 and i adore and wear out every day my Pardon fragrance. I am about to purchase Absinth/Duro. Black Afghano by the way, iconic one. Extremely unique for those who just enters niche. It will take time to get Black Afghano, but guys once you feel it there's no turning back hahahha. That said can actually be applied to all nasomatto scents. Besides Narcotic V though i still think that's granny's scent and its horrible ahahahah , and yeah Sadonaso actually smells like urine. Fantomas is still so weird for me aswell. Barraonda/Duro/BA/Pardon must haves
I absolutely agree with what you have said, i've smelled Sadonaso yesterday, girlfriend said it smelled like cat piss but i actually enjoyed it very much , so it's definitely a polarising scent. Black Afgano was the first one i had, it's a fragrance i absolutely love and during the last couple of months i've gotten my hands on Baraonda, Blamage and Pardon, in my opinion those 4 are insanely good. Got Absinth as an Oil for my brother, was surprised he actually enjoyed it, it's much cleaner than i thought it'd smell, very forest-like, smells like a clean man. So for you, if you haven't smelt it, definitely try out Blamage, to me it's fruity, peachy, creamy and like bright woods. :)
Yep, this is a winner and one that doesn't seem to get a lot of 'air play'. I have Memoir Man and will need to compare the 2 (I love Memoir Man BTW)....great to hear from you Daniel!
@ The Niche Fragrance Collector Great review. I’m also interested in the comparisons to Memoir Man, which I really like. The only sticking point for me is the sweet vanilla note in Memoir Man, which I’m not as fond of. I’ve heard Absinthe is quite “sweet”?
Funny that you are picking up a vanilla note in memoir man. This is something that I definitely do not get when I’m wearing it…but you know I need to test this further.
Like your reviews. My wife has a sensitive nose and picks up what I don't, at times it matches what you pick up. I trust both your noses. While Nasomatto is unique, it does seem to copy some of the Eastern world and East Asian 'atars' (fragrances). It's more an Islamic thing though. It would be a long read if I explain it here, these scents are impossible to find here but in the muslim parts of India if you go into a musk house or an Arab country you will see what I mean.
Actually if you go to a local Islamic bookstore (Darrussalam Melbourne) or where they sell musks (usually muslim culture shop) they may show some things if the clerk knows his fragrance. I remember a friend telling me what to buy and telling me they smell like mould and dirty socks. Some of the oud which is very expensive ($250 1 ml) may get you a dirty - but sweet scent. Edit- also some of the musks can go real high in value. Original musk is taken from a deers internals. Check them out you may learn something and you may want to make a video out of some of this stuff.
Firstly thank you for the support, very much appreciated. And I feel honored to be in the same company as your wife when it comes to picking up scents👊🏽 Thanks for this insight into the musk house’s, I had no idea about this. I’m going to check out Darrussalam and would love to explore this a bit deeper. Thank you again @WelcomeTo TheAgeofStupidity (I gotta know your name, I feel impolite referring you by your handle😂)
@@TheNicheFragranceCollector If you want the real goodies you will have to go to Mecca, Dubai. If you have freinds in Pakistan or India that will make it much easier. My name's Yusuf. I'm glad you're into trying something different, good luck with it. 😉
Thanks Yusuf for the advise. I need to get back to Dubai, especially now with the love that I’m directly to Niche, I feel that this would be a great place to discover some amazing fragrances…..2023 is the goal!
Hey there Tony, great to hear from you and so happy to hear that you’ve been enjoying the content…(if you haven’t, I would love for you to subscribe😬, if you have, then a massive THANK YOU🙌🏽) Any chance that you can test the $80 Absinth first? I would hate for you, if it’s not the real thing. But $80 is a crazy amazing price….good luck my friend👊🏽

@@TheNicheFragranceCollector Hi Marcelo, I just wanted to chime in on this. Alessandro actually lives in the Netherlands and I believe both Orto Parisi & Nasomatto have their main office in Amsterdam. If you haven't yet, I recommend watching the documentary "The Nose" on Video. It's from a Dutch television show following Alessandro as he tries to come up with the "Blamage" perfume for the Nasomatto line. The documentary is in English and is super interesting.
