Dieck's problem isn't just the fact he is outdone by Rutger, its the fact that by the time the game throws you more cavalry units, you will realize just how stiff the competition is for him. Dieck not only has to compete with a deployment slot with Rutger, but also any Mounted unit that can wield a Sword. Alance and Shanna will snowball by the end of Chapter 8 (If you give them their promotional items early), making it difficult to justify deploying Dieck aside from the earlygame. And the fact that the Hero Crest is almost always going to Rutger doesn't help matters much. Rutger has an infinitely better MU against Henning than Dieck does, and by the time you get past Chapter 8x you won't really needing any other infantry units other than a select few.

Ogier is really good he might not have Dieck con but he is a solid unit despite being late when you have Rutger or Dieck, now Echidna is the real challenge.
I mean, I'm not opposed to an Echidna video, but I've used Echidna in FE6 endgame hilariously easily. All she actually needs is a Body Ring to double faster stuff with axes, a steady supply of killer weapons, and to bump up her axe rank from B to S for Armads (which ain't hard), and she's basically good to go. She two-rounds or one-rounds Hard Mode enemies in her join chapter the moment you take that garbage steel axe off her, and basically stays viable as a combat unit until bordering on endgame even if she gets crap levels. A raised Ogier (and by that, I mean, a very late-promoted raised Ogier) will be better, but it takes a lot more for Ogier to be combat-viable than it does for Echidna to be combat-viable, especially on Hard. I mean, hell, even at 15/1, Ogier still only catches up to Echidna at base. And by that I mean, he's got a bit more Strength and physical bulk but worse Speed, and probably B+ swords versus C Swords and E Axes versus B Axes, along with a mild lead in Luck versus Echidna's leads in Skill and Resistance. That's not by any means an uncontested win for Echidna, but Ogier needed twelve levels and a Hero Crest to do that; Echidna just showed up like that. Sure, in the late parts of the endgame (mostly once you're out of Ilia), Ogier's moderately better growths should give him the edge, but it doesn't especially matter, since most of the things he does well are things Echidna can do well too, and most of the things Echidna does poorly, he's not great at either. You can drop a base-level Echidna with a trained-up axe rank in Chapter 24 and she'll be right at home, with the only real difference between her and a trained-up Ogier at the same level being that Ogier might be able to take an extra hit. And it's not like Ogier's growths are much better than hers; he's got about 5-10% on her in most stats, which usually translates to about one or two extra stat points in the endgame. The average 10/20 Ogier is actually _worse_ in a lot of stats than the average level 20 Echidna.

Oujay has worse overall bases than Dieck. Not to mention that Dieck isn’t exactly as good as a lot of people make him out to be cuz the hero crest you get in Chapter 7 is pretty much guaranteed to be given to Rutger. Even outside the Rutger comparison you have Alance and Shanna who are much better units overall in terms of mobility and combat.
@@allenkeettikkal3149 FE6's assumptions of promotion is whack as hell. They give you more than enough Elysian Whips and Orion Bolts but are stingy AF with the others. The game also seems to think that you'll be promoting characters way later in the game than your first opportunity? Like, it's still dropping units like Sophia, Zeiss, and Lugh in your lap.

It’s a shame that in reality that Oujay isn’t actually as good as this video make him out to be. Even besides the Dieck and Rutger comparisons, he is too weak and ends up falling behind in FE6, where the maps are just way too big that you end up having to ferry Roy to the throne.
He's not a unit that you casually use and expect good results in, he's for sure a growth unit that is outclassed by those other 2 hero crest users. The way I see it though if you choose to train him and grow him into something good, he has a lot of levels to get stats, a good weapon type and joins at a part where it's easy to use him (armorslayer against the knights in his join map and then western isle being axe city). I would never argue that Ogier is a really good unit, but it's funny how easy he is to train if you want to use him, easily one of the best meme units in the game. The video was meant to showcase how silly it is to make him viable, even if he isn't really needed at all.

How did your ogier get so good? I trained him to level 20 and he mostly levelled hp and luck. Still enough to take a Scott crit, though.
