Well it's not strange because a lot of the words in english come from old norse, which is the pre-language we spoke in all of scandinavia :D And those in turn, come from when we scandinavians invaded England. For example, bröd (swedish). bread, is from Scandinavian (old norse) And many similar words. I think it was Brot in old norse.

There are people who are newcomers in these countries for a living. I'm not one of them and I prefer to learn germanic languages rather than arabic. No offense, it's a matter of priorities. But my question is: why learn arabic when every muslim speaks english and/or french? I never had the need to learn arabic in order to communicate with anybody. Another question: why are you speaking english if everybody in the future is gonna speak arabic?
We're faaar more likely to get practical benefit from learning languages such as Mandarin and Hindi than Arabic. Besides, the language the world wants to learn is English. I can't imagine why anyone would need Arabic unless it's to converse with others in the unemployment queue. 🤣

Swedish has so many words that are nearly the same or very similar to English that it is not hard to learn.
Same with swedish and german if not closer
German also have strong ties to english due to being west-germanic like english and us the 2nd most spoken germanic language after english
