I love the fact that Ahsoka’s strike took Anakin’s left side portion of his mask, while Obi-Wan’s took his right side portion. But only Luke, his son and redeemer, was able to take the full mask of Vader off
I also look at it that Obi Wan managed to take a bigger chunk of the mask off because Vader still had some Anakin in him while much later with Ahsoka, Vader hardened even further hence why her strike on the left side was smaller
I'm surprised you didn't mention Vader's announcement that "He" killed Anakin. This means that the "Certain point of view" Kenobi references in RotJ was Vader's
The way Vader stepped around while he fought Reva without a saber, reminded me of how Sideious was stepping around and effortlessly dodging Maul and Savage, without any ignited saber, during their duel in the Clone Wars.

The fact that Ahsoka and Obiwan are like the only 2 force users that can rival vaders power at this time is so cool to me. They each get a half of the helmet, but Ahsoka chooses to stay for anakin while obi wan lets him go. Says a lot about the feelings of a jedi and how Ahsoka isn’t one. I also just love all the call backs, the “then you will die”, both saying anakin when they see his face, even the framing of the beginning of the fight. Some people may think it copies too much but I think that seeing how outside of padme these were the two people he was closest to, it makes sense they would have similar confrontations. It also just makes anakin feel much more cold in the rebels fight because he has been through this before, all I can think is him having flashes of Obiwan when Ahsoka ignites her sabers. Really wish Ahsoka would’ve atleast been referenced seeing how much her duel with Vader influenced this fight.
@@yarnstead yup I mentioned that, but this came out after. So the obi wan fight is 100% a reference to the Ahsoka fight because in real life it was done back in 2016, years before obi wan was even a show.

I'm sorry Anakin" Ahsoka slashed Vaders mask exposing his right eye Obi Wan slashed Vaders mask exposing his left eye Ahsoka destroyed the floor and Vader fell through Vader destroyed the floor and Obi wan fell through This is not a coincidence
Ashoka destroyed the right side of the mask and didn't redeem Vader. Obi destroyed the left side of the mask and didn't redeem Vader. Luke lifts the helmet after choosing pacifism.
In Part 6, Luke says, "I'm not afraid". He said that again to Yoda in The Empire Strikes Back. It may have been mentioned earlier, but in A New Hope Han dismisses the Force as "simple tricks and nonsense." I wonder if Han met or heard about Haja's con-artist tricks?
Vader duel wielding the sabers in front of a kneeling Reva reminded me a lot of the same scene when Anakin disarmed and subsequently beheaded Dooku in RotS. I honestly was surprised at the time Vader didn’t lob off Reva’s head too.
Claudia gray is an awesome author! I can’t believe she wrote the short story master and apprentice and the actual novel too. It definitely came full circle there lol
Question for the next Q&A: Now that Reva is no longer seeking revenge against Anakin, what’s stopping her from finally succumbing to her stab wounds? I presume that Disney wants to keep her around for future stories (and I would also like to see what it looks like for a dark sider to actually live long enough to do some active redemption), but now that she no long has revenge propping up her will to live, how will she survive?
I didn't care for this series & thought it made a new problem for every one it solved, but I will give it this: it did make Obi-Wan calling him "Darth" make sense to me. Before it always felt like the little writing goof-up that it was...he used it like a first name because originally that's what it was meant to be. But now I can see it more for the retroactive explanation: it's just Obi-Wan using the title passive aggressively. Like, you don't even get a name anymore. This is what you chose to be, so this is all that you are. I think I'd heard people try to explain it away that way before, but I couldn't hear it until McGregor sold it.
Obi-Wan's slicing of Vader's helmet creates the scar we see on the top of his head when Luke removes the helmet near the end of RoTJ. I thought that was an excellent touch.
7:07 After watching the full series, I'm not sure why they used her specifically rather than another Inquisitor we know was active at this point given how little she did, it's not like she was used as a cannon fodder Inquisitor. 8:45 I heard someone mention somewhere that after it became a running gag/ongoing reference in the modern films, it's always been Witwer and Collins voicing the pairs of Stormtroopers, is that true?
The fact that each episode mirror each movie was amazing and not something I had thought about before. Also, "Gungan snacks" becomes a lot darker if it doesn't mean "Snacks for Gungans", but rather "snacks made out of Gungans".

Some of the names mentioned are massive deepcuts that by this point I think would only mean something to the most diehard Legends fans.
As to the eopie's name, in the first issue of the new Obi-Wan Kenobi comic series, it is revealed that the eopie's name is Akkani. Perhaps Obi-Wan had more than one eopie throughout his time on Tatooine, but my favourite name is honestly Akkani, since it is very similar to Anakin.
When Leia asks Obi Wan if he is her father I took it as a subtle nod towards the line that the actual body actor for earth Vader spoke “No, Obi wan is your father” which was just said to persevere the secrecy of the twist on set
I'm pretty sure the line was "Obi-Wan killed your father" maybe I'm wrong but I think the whole idea was that sounds so awful cause Obi-Wan was such a great person to Luke, so it's a major shock.
Old Obi-Wan's ghost tells Luke on Dagobah in ROTJ "He's more machine now than man. Twisted and evil." Now we know how he knew it. He's actually seen it.
It's why I don't really have a problem with the Legends content being dropped from canon. You can still go back and enjoy it if it's what you prefer, and with a few exceptions, there's not much stopping new writers bringing these characters and stories back.
I came up with an idea for a droid named DZ-13E, or Dizzy for short. He is a Droid that was once owned by the Empire, but got hijacked by Han Solo when he was 12.
I love how they respect legends to such a deep extent even though they don't need too, they could have given Leia's relatives new names, but they put in the effort to stick to something that's not even canon.
Well honestly it probably wasn't too much effort. Like you said, they didn't need to but at the same time, the names were already there and fans who'd recognize it would appreciate it so why wouldn't they?
9:02 “you were my brother Anakin” definitely a call back to revenge of the sith duel between obi wan and anakin. Obi shouted this at Anakin as he left him to burn
A detail I liked was Obi Wan’s lightsaber form in that last duel. It signals his return to his former self before he fueled with Anakin the first time.
Easter Egg #1 is definitely my favourite and one I didnt notice at all lol. Each ep mirroring the vibe of the films is a great idea, and it definitely feels like that in hindsight, even down to how 1-3 feels a bit more actiony and fresh while 4-6 is very galactic civil war

I found it interesting that Quinlan Vos was using the path. Especially after he lost his love/partner Asaj Ventress I was curious if he went all the way bad or ended up staying unaffiliated.

Also was The Force Unleashed the first time Vader's weakened breathing was used, at the very least that's where I recognized it from when I heard it. I really hope he's at next year's Celebration.
@@vincentt2309 yeah, that's more likely... it's probably just burned into my mind as being from TFU given how many times I've played the Death Star level.
13:47 I would not be surprised if they had the Idea to also bring back Natalie Portman. But then they descided that they already have a 40 year old Padawan. They didnt need a 40 year old queen.
The only thing that does not click in my head continuity-wise is why does Vader say in TNH to Obi-Wan that "When I left you I was but a learner. Now I am the master.".. Even if he means when they said goodbye before parting ways in ROTS, still as comrades, he was far from a learner's status by then.
Here's the way I interpret it, hopefully this helps: Throughout the series (as well as the movies), we see Anakin/Vader think in terms of raw power levels - this even applies to the entire empire, from Inquisitors (Reva's power struggle, for example), down to regular officers (like the one Tala intimidates), and culminates in Palpatine shutting Vader's ambitions down. Meanwhile, Obi-Wan has repeatedly proven that wisdom and discipline overcome simple power (after all, he has defeated the most dark side users, while consistently the underdog). So, when Ben defeats Vader again (against all odds), just like he did on Mustafar, Vader is left with the impression that he himself simply wasn't strong enough yet, that he still had to learn. Ironically, the only thing he couldn't learn, was to gain and rely on wisdom, as that's kind of impossible to Sith.
I know there's a bunch of references that i noticed and were not in this video, but the one i can think of right now is that we see Vader in the bacta tank a few times before the fight with Obi-wan and he doesn't have the scar on his head that we see in "Return of the Jedi" but after seeing Kenobi slashing his helmet right where that scar should be, we know now that's how he got it. Also right before the fight he says " i must face him, alone" just like he did on "A New Hope" Vader also uses the force to crack the ground and making a hole, putting himself on the high ground. After his mask is broken we can hear that weasel sound when he breathes just like in Rebels and Return of the Jedi. Vader tells Obi-wan that He did not kill Anakin Skywalker, that Vader himself killed him, which is what Obi-wan tells Luke when he asks what happened to his father.
I also liked the way the different colors of lightsaber illumination cast on their faces as they spoke (after the defeat). It reflected their sentences and the way the characters must have felt.
They have dropped too many hints for Corran Horn, so either the show writers are messing with us or their hinting at Corran Horn in Star Wars Rogue Squadron. As much as I would like to see Denis Lawson reprise his role as Wedge Antilles (maybe he appears as a general?), I can see a new actor portraying a young Corran Horn.
I'm surprised that you fell for the "Padme's apartment" thing. Look at pics of Padmés apartment. It looks very different, as do the buildings surrounding it.
In ep 5, many of the stormtroopers of the attack on the base are from the 501st Legion, the costume club. They have a mention in the credits and ANH armor instead of the newer type first seen in Rogue One. This is the second time this has happened, as they were with Gideon's reinforcements in the last episodes of Mando s1. I hope this will keep up, as a fellow trooper in europe it's fun to see. :P
When, in TNH, Vader senses Obi-Wan's presence after the Falcon boards, he says "I sense something. A presence I have not felt since..." Well, now we know since when and what.
This may not qualify as an Easter Egg, but the moon Obi-Wan and Vader led on is a nod to Dave Filoni and the Last Airbender. Dave worked on that anime show and the showdown between Aang and the Fire Lord was fought among such rock formations. Even down to the throwing chunks of rock at each other.
How do the t47 speeders fly up to the base, hang there a minute, then fly away without a single tie fighter going after them? Why didn’t Vader use tie fighters when he was chasing that ship.
7:02 Holy shite! I JUST got a signed copy of this book from a friend! That's awesome that I got a book that contains a character that cameoed in this show
15:56 I've seen some TH-camrs say that one of the lightsabers resembles starkillers from the Force Unleashed & other people saying it doesn't look like it.
The obi-wan having a brother is a reference to the Obi-wan books in Legends. I don't remember the name of the series, but back when he was an apprentice to Qui gon. After joining the Jedi he did visit his parents again once or twice. (think parent visitation days) On one of those visits he learned he had a non-forcesensative little brother. He mentions feeling disconnected from this family and that the Jedi and Qui-gon are more like a family to him. It being a little brother is most likely supposed to mirror Anakin becoming like a little brother to him in the future.

13:15 Especially as Witwer himself tweeted: "And NOW that Kenobi guy - First he steals m'legs. Now he steals my dance moves." after the episode came out. Also was The Force Unleashed the first time Vader's weakened breathing was used, at the very least that's where I recognized it from when I heard it.
I really hope he's at next year's Celebration.
The weakened breathing is from episode VI, when he’s dying.
I think Vader's weakened breathing goes back to Return of the Jedi, no?
Vaders weakened breathing is form return of the Jedi.
Fantastic video. Job well done. Love this series and know because of this video I love it even more. Thank you
The only thing that does not click in my head continuity-wise is why does Vader say in TNH to Obi-Wan that "When I left you I was but a learner. Now I am the master.".. Even if he means when they said goodbye before parting ways in ROTS, still as comrades, he was far from a learner's status by then.
Here's the way I interpret it, hopefully this helps:
Throughout the series (as well as the movies), we see Anakin/Vader think in terms of raw power levels - this even applies to the entire empire, from Inquisitors (Reva's power struggle, for example), down to regular officers (like the one Tala intimidates), and culminates in Palpatine shutting Vader's ambitions down.
@@samba1367 Impressive. Most impressive.
Calling someone Darth is like saying, "You've lost, Emperor." or "Well Princess, looks like you've managed to keep me around a little longer."
Also right before the fight he says " i must face him, alone" just like he did on "A New Hope"
Vader also uses the force to crack the ground and making a hole, putting himself on the high ground.
Great vid SWE. Thanks for translating all the aurebesh writings.
Leia floating could be a callback to her floating in TLJ.
I also liked the way the different colors of lightsaber illumination cast on their faces as they spoke (after the defeat). It reflected their sentences and the way the characters must have felt.
Awesome list! Great catch at the Porsche ship, I thought I was the only one that noticed it. :)
I always giggle at your sarcastic "small references"
They have dropped too many hints for Corran Horn, so either the show writers are messing with us or their hinting at Corran Horn in Star Wars Rogue Squadron. As much as I would like to see Denis Lawson reprise his role as Wedge Antilles (maybe he appears as a general?), I can see a new actor portraying a young Corran Horn.
haha party Threepio is a happy Threepio
This trove of knowledge is appreciated. I shall chase down those comics in their respective omnibus.
Damn, Vader was on the Devastator for quite a while.
Pretty much
Wait, is Ram Kota alive and kicking in the current canon? Awesome.
He hasn't been re-canonised yet.
That's awesome that I got a book that contains a character that cameoed in this show
“very, very impressive!” -darth vader
15:56 I've seen some TH-camrs say that one of the lightsabers resembles starkillers from the Force Unleashed & other people saying it doesn't look like it.
This was presented like a movie, but nobody 'had a bad feeling about this.' Minor quibble. Loved the show!
I hope Alex doesn't mind me headcanoning that Daiyu dinosaur as a Ssi-ruu until we get confirmation one way or another... 🙂
I don’t think it’s an Easter egg but seeing Ross Fallon from MGF customs as an extra as a soilder was so cool for me
Vader’s rejection of mercy lines up with the sith code illustrated in KOTOR.
The sign that reads “Wampa” could just be a Star Wars-equivalent to the Yeti brand 😂
I heard that Lola was named after a pet bird that Carrie Fisher had as a kid
I am not the biggest fan of The Phantom Menace but dammit did I mark out when I saw Qui-Gonn appear here.
When he says" i will do what i must" just like their fight in episode 3
Good video, I enjoyed it.
I REALLY hope to see an older Corran Horn in the Ahsoka series 🤞🤞
Thank you for this video.
The dark jedi on the left of the ongree jedi could be quinlan vos.
Vos is alive.
@@reececowell6642 Was he alive at this point in time? Just because he's mentioned in this show doesn't mean he's alive. Nobody ever seems to think that.
@@StuartLugsden he was listed as alive by the Empire in the Vader comic (albiet a while back) and was talked about in the present tense
@@reececowell6642 Oh my god. *_Was he alive at this point in time? Just because he's mentioned in this show doesn't mean he's alive. Nobody ever seems to think that._*
Glitterstim was arguably the best illicit upgrade in the 1st edition of the XWing miniatures game.
Every time I see the names that went thru The Path all I can think of is how that is evidence the Empire can use in their hunt
I tend not to associate Obi-Wan's "Alternatives to Fighting" line to A New Hope, but rather the Clone Wars microseries where he uses a bunch of tiny bombs to take out droid forces, making things less fun for Anakin because he couldn't just go in and slice them up.
There was a Lancer-class Pursuit ship in the background when Obi-wan was meeting Princess laya for the last time.
I think Lola is a hidden Mickey.
Best comment
Its obviously Coleman Kcaj. Pablo Jill was last seen before the start ofthe clone wars, he probably died and was replaced on the council. We know for a fact Kcaj survived order 66 thanks to the 2017 Vader comics i believe. Its 100% him
I do like that the purge trooper armor is phase 2
Droid is like a seiss army knife
Was the ship in the background on the landing pad on Alderaan the Shadow caster?
Great video as always.
Thanks, Alex! 📜
I think the Ongree is Pablo Jill, the neck of his tunic looks light cream/white while Coleman's was a dark green I think
I think the scene with Obi-Wan chucking rocks at Vader was, if not a reference, then at least very similar to the Jedi Consular's starting force power in SWtOR
You missed the Emperor's prominent yellow Chimpanzee eyes - which is a direct call-back to his changing appearance in the OT... which started with big putty-face eyes, then went to Chimpanzee eyes, and finally to dark, sunken human eyes by the time of ROTJ.
love it ty
