- So, here you have it, the Final path. Since I already showed all the weird-ass ships on the previous longplays, I only had the useful ones left. I'm specially proud of this run. It ended up being a 1cc. Stay tuned to the end of the video for the stage I have left

Pues aquí lo teneis. El path final. Puesto que ya había utilizado todas las naves feotas, ahora sólo me quedaban las útiles. Estoy bastante contento con este longplay, acabó siendo un 1cc. Al final del video os he dejado el stage que faltaba

I've always loved the R=Type series because of the music, the music is insane in this game, not to mention pretty creepy later on

There is no R-Type Reborn with that name. But R-Type Dimentions EX from 2009 :) If you doubt me there is a game with that name R-Type Reborn, then you have to check about if that name exist in this R-Type video games list : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_R-Type_video_games because that name is not included in this list.
You can play R-Type Final in your PS2 computer or PS2 emulator in your PC or Laptop and in PS3 too because I played R-Type Final in my PS3 and in PS2 emulator in my Laptop and the same way I play Gradius V in them. I have no PS4, Nintendo Switch or Xbox One, when I have a Laptop and old PS3 to play my games. I look forward in December, when the whole R-Type Final 2 will be released in PC Steam :)
How do you change paths?
My favorites are : Arrowhead, LEO2, Eclipse and Hades.
I know the 2nd stage changes alot but there are other alternate stages too?????

I want this game so bad. I complete rtype "reborn" on psone but had to cheat with rx10?. I play as kid on spectrum. I need this game. Pls help me it 2019....i blast off and strike the bydo

Where is the bullet hell here? There is a 26 century mood for sure,but enemies look so easy to defeat,just look that giant Mech with mini-gun,it's ridicilous
R-type isn't even in the bullet hell genre...
It might be a late answer, but this playthrough is on human difficulty. Difficulty affects this game a lot. On Bydo difficulty you can't sleep on the game that much and R-typer difficulty forces you to use every tool at your disposal and deal with stage gimmicks to survive. The mentioned Mechs don't die in 1 hit of a weak gun and, for example, the boss at 20:40 will give you vietnam flashbacks on almost any ship that can't just blow it away with a singe main gun shot, because you have to dodge two projectiles at the same time (one comes directly at you and one ricochets off the screen edge) at all the times, and you MUST destroy at least one of them each time it fires them off while damaging the boss, or you will be overwhelmed, because they can tank a few shots, can ram you through the force and fly like 3 times faster than here. Or in hyperspace level, the higher is your speed, the more distorted the space becomes, so on R-typer, where most enemies manage to fire at least one 3 shot volleys, there is a very high chance that at speed 4 you will get gnomed right through your force, so you have to micromanage that as well. You can also troll the boss by constantly changing speed to make it miss you entirely without even moving, to which he counter trolls you with gravity pull to make you crash if you don't pay attention, etc...

Like i said, it looks this easy because it is on easy difficulty. Same could be said about 1:44 , but on R-typer you can't just wreck that mech instantly, instead it will dodge your main weapon to the top of the screen (or just eat it) and try to 360 noscope you with 6 shots in a row. Though, this particular minigun guy is scripted, so you are correct, it's kinda lame. But, to be fair, this stage drops frames even in emulator, so it's probably the least polished one in the entire game.
As for why empty/slow phases exist, this game has like 100 different ships, some of them rely mainly on a gun, some have busted force, some insane pods, etc, so it's a necessary evil to make like 50% of the roster more viable and fun to play, if that makes sense.
I played the newly released final 2. In that game they nerfed like 80% of the ships into oblivion, and stages do not give you a break to charge gun even to level 2, so while you always have something to do, you can't do cool things. There are also respawns, at which you physically cannot recover with like 90% of the ships, just because enemy overwhelms you. You could also compare it with Delta for thrills, but in Delta all 3 main game ships are busted op (they are also busted op in final).

So how do you get on the b and c path.
First you beat the game on the normal way to get path A.
Then when fighting the boss from stage 5 (27:38) he'll have a set of red fins on the back. Destroy them to go to path B
And after that, the boss will have two sets of fins (red and blue). Destroy the red to go to path C and the blue for path B
