I absolutely love these. We live in a time we're a handful of gamers complain about weird things that normal people wouldn't even notice & were a reviewers opinion can dictate everyone else's even if they never play it. Developers are just normal people trying to make something special who most of the time sacrifice time with there family because there so passionate so remember there only human be fair 👍🏻

Influence via opinions is not anything new. It's always been in gaming and every facet of media before gaming even existed so its not going anywhere . With games and general society getting more expensive reviews with be more critical. We are also just normal people , not cash cow consumers that have money to blow. So yes people are gonna be skeptical and hold on to their money especially if you're buying digital and its hard / damn near impossible to get a refund. Sometimes it's the weird details that people should pick up on and that's why they are called out.
You could call this "Ted" talk.
Insomniac Games and Naughty Dog made a lot of my childhood. As a kid Crash Bandicoot 3 Warped and Spyro Year of the Dragon were the first two games I played and have pretty much cemented my love for those two companies. To this day I continue to support their games and I can't wait to buy Spider-Man PS4.

Same. Crash, Jak, Spyro and Ratchet where my favourites for me. I'll throw Sly Cooper in there. The Elite platformers from PS and PS2. I still wants to play Sunset Overdrive, but I don't think it's a XBOX seller for me unfortunately.

@@scarabespada Don't worry, Insomniac still owns the Sunset Overdrive IP. It's only a matter of time before the exclusivity deal with MS runs out and they can bring it to other platforms. Maybe it won't be on PS4, but it'll be on PS5. It's just a matter of time.
Insomniac is the best. I really started getting into them when I was little and played the first Ratchet and Clank. Oh, and don’t forget about Spyro on the PS1!
Best Show IGN does Hands down. Loved it from start to finish. Ted Price is such an inspiration to me. Really anytime the Devs Shine, it's magic. I Can't be any more happy for Insomniac-Games. YES, Spiderman is simply AMAZING. Can't freaking wait to see what's next from the Devs! Cheers to 25 years!

I’m 22, Ratchet and Clank is my favorite series. It’s the reason I got a PS3 over a 360 and a PS4 over a XB1. Now I have both, but as long as R&C is Sony exclusive, I’ll always get a PlayStation console first
And now it is and will forever more be.
I'm not a superhero guy at all, but I'm so happy that Insomniac Games have a best selling game. Its been years since the Independent studio had a real hit y'know? Some Ratchet and Clank spinoffs, Sunset Overdrive, and that game that no one remembers, or liked FUSE. Happy they are still going strong, they could've ended up like THQ or something.
Ted Price kinda looks like a dad in a lifetime movie.

Great conversation. Insomiac is one of my favorite developers. Just got my Platinum in Spider-Man last night. Can't wait to see what these guys do on PS5 and PSVR2!

Just Nutted in Spider-Man if u look at the Spider-Man twitter page someone tweeted they’re announcing a new game next week which could either next week or dis week
False. Insomniac stated multiple times that they don't do "remasters." Also, it's highly unlikely that they'd develop a new Resistance game. On their streams, they've made it clear that a new Resistance game is highly unlikely. Every Resistance sequel sold less than it's predecessor, so that's probably why. It's a sad truth to bear as a Resistance fan myself.
@@canadianturtle7240 There's been remasters of their games. They just don't personally do them. But Sony can contract someone else to do so.
I loved the first game and adored what Insomniac evolved it into with 3. I'd love if they could go back to it someday

Amazing interview! Loved playing Spider-Man, and this guy and his team really deserved the recognition and accolades the game received.

I have great memories of diruptor. I was 16 and living at home and just buying any and every videogame with my job money from stocking shelves. It is funny to hear about it after all these years. It was a game that was legit great, but nobody remembers it.
I know Insomniac is more famous now with spiderman, but meeen these guys are genius Ratchet and clank being one of my all time favourites
This show is the best thing IGN produces these days. Ryan is quickly becoming the Larry King of game interviews. You can hear him get better every episode.

What a fantastic interview. I've loved Ted for years, what a great guy. Spider-man has been outstanding and I can't wait for what's next from them. Really REALLY hoping for Ratchet and Clank please!!! What more story and answers after A Crack In Time and the Future saga!!!!!! and the PS4 game was INSANE. After seeing what they can do with Spider-man, I can't even begin to imagine what they could do with Ratchet And Clank.

This man Ted Price. He is the reason why I had a fun gaming childhood. He and Insomniac made two game franchise that forever made me look at gaming differently Spyro and Resistance franchise. Thank you Ted and Insomniac and please don't repeat Naughty Dog's mistake.
Sounds like we had the same upbringing my dad and mom were gamers and bought every system since nes. And to top it all off my dad and I would play every ratchet and clank and Jak and daxter. Thank you ted and team and insomniac

A bit too positive, would've liked to hear more about the negative reactions they've received over the years, e.g. R&C A4O, R2's campaign, the R&C movie, Overstrike/Fuse was touched on but I would've liked to hear more, e.g. about working with EA etc.

Game for ps1(Originally for ps1): Disruptor, is what brought me here, the birth of Insomniac was born.
Love Ted, one of the main reasons Insomniac have always stayed in my top 3 developers since I played Spyro 1 is that the company is very personal with fans and quality games.
My only complaint was felt Ryan spent too long on Sunset Overdrive (understand why) and too little on Spyro, Ratchet and Resistance developments like why did RE2 go to 2 weapons at once versus 1 and 3's weapon wheel etc.
Spiderman is the hype now so the direct inspiration is clearly Sunset, that's why he went back to it. I would complain more about the fact he didn't ask if Sunset was a success for them, or the numbers were a bit of a letdown.
Working at Insomniac? Sounds like my cup of tea!!

I wish the Ratchet and Clank movie was animated like the original commercials for the first game.
Tom Kalinske and Al Nilsen are available and always willing to talk about one of the most exciting period of history for this industry and yet still haven’t been on this show! You need to change that ASAP! There are also far too many Xbox centric episodes. I like Xbox but there are so many other companies out there and interesting people to talk to.

I bet Ryan chose this thumbnail. Notice how Spider-Man and Resistance aren't in it. Notice how Sunset Overdrive has the biggest presence on it, even though Insomniac is not only better known for Ratchet and Clank, but it's also their most loved franchise. Ratchet and Clank should have been the focus of attention, but Ryan the Xboner chose SO instead.

Wish they got the writer of the first PS2 ratchet and clank game. Would have been a waaaaaay better film. Also love sunset overdrive after the first ratchet and clank it’s my second favourite game of theirs.

lol, poor Insomniac, built and released Spyro before Skylanders became huge, originally planned to make SO Fortnite-like, and backed off that premise.
Whatever, I've bought 3 systems now for Insomniac games. Easily my favorite development studio and I love the work that they've done in the industry. Ted and the team are flawless at capturing the "fun" that often times get lost in gaming when developers get so hung up on "dark, gritty games that depress and stress the hell out of you".
Resistance fall of man was the best game ever.

Don't worry its just one game like Titanfall the game flops just as well the second one should be multiplatform like Titanfall 2.
I've played it and it's actually pretty fun. The story wise isn't as cinematic compare to Spider Man. It plays like the Resistance games, but it's a 3rd person shooter game. The story is full on comedy humor. You'll get a lot of laughs out of this game for sure. Though out of all their IPs, you're not missing much to be honest. Insomniac dominates in the PlayStation side.
Insomniac owns the IP, so it's only a matter of time before the exclusivity deal with MS runs out. The game might not come out on PS4, but it'll be on PS5.
