When I was 18, my cousin, let’s call her Jade, decided to falsely accuse me of SA, and unfortunately, my entire family bought the story. Jade is four years older than me and we used to be close when we were kids, but eventually, we just grew apart. She is my uncle’s daughter, who happens to be a single father. My mom’s younger brother, my uncle, got married to his ex-wife when they were really young because he got her pregnant.
Attention innocent people. Stop silencing yourself when you know you are innocent. Tell them to call the police or do it yourself. Bring everything put into the light. Evil only wins when you shut up and let it.
The problem is sometimes even when you know you're innocent and you tell the police or somebody, you would have to hope they will believe you. There are real SA victims that told the police and nothing was done.
@tailsofchaos that is true but the difference here at least is there is no evidence tying op to SAing anyone. They need to prove his guilt and this entire "plan" would have fallen by the wayside. You don't have to hope for anything with the police, the cousin would have to convince the jury that op SAed he and op just needs to defend innocence. True it could still backfire but with all the support he has, unlikely.
Also what has to be done with people defending themselves from false allegations and those trying to prove something are different. The first you need to show your innocence and they need to prove guilt. Second is the inverse of that.
@@Allmightyimortal Sadly there are not the many people that want to because of something like what I said. Take men who had been SA. Most won't tell they have been SA due to not being taken seriously, get laugh at, etc.
Real sad for it.
And this is not me of telling real victims to not say anything of course. It's just sad it's really like that thanks to people like this sister.

@tailsofchaos oh no I agree with you on that part, sorry if it sounded like I didn't. It's just normally easier to prove guilt/innocence if you act fast and loud, with a good lawyer. Makes it harder for false stories to set and looks far less like an admission of guilt. It's why you never say I'm sorry or do anything that looks like accepting accountability before talking to a lawyer after a car crash or anything really. Though yeah innocent people do go to jail and guilty ones escape and it is really annoying. At minimum it would of allowed him to file against her for slander.

@@echero2449 That's a maybe because it was never his money. But it was explicitly promised to him, and the only reason he didn't get it was the libel and slander. Much like getting fired then suing for losses. That money wasn't yours yet, but the only reason you didn't get it was lies. No one has the money yet when suing for future losses, but they win those lawsuits all the time.
The parents didn’t want people to learn how they, Jade and the uncle were pieces of filth. They deserve the same amount of kindness, respect and mercy that they gave OP... none

And it sounds like she just has cancer and it's not going well - not that she's about to die any day. So if he's lucky they'll take the money now and she won't be able to afford treatment. Karma.
I would show absolutely no mercy or compassion. What is more, if my parents wanted to reconcile with me I would tell them that they would have to pay me TWICE the amount of the college fund that they ended up giving Jill instead. The first half only breaks me even on what I should have had all along and it would be doubled as restitution due to how badly my life was ruined. And originally the money was meant to pay for my college but since it is RESTITUTION they have no say in how I spend it. If they do that AND make a public apology to the entire family and the entire community EXPLAINING EVERYTHING FULLY (unlikely since they tried to get him to keep it a secret). If they did ALL of that without any protest or hesitation then I might reconcile with them but even then our relationship would be cordial and guarded and we would never be as close as we once were.
Even after the truth comes out, OP's family only want to protect lying Jade. He's well rid of these people.
No, they aren't worried about Jade, they are worried about what people will say about the way they handled the whole situation! By not even allowing the accused his right to defend himself! Jade is dieing, what does she need with a good or bad reputation? Besides everyone says "don't speak ill of the dead" So No, they are not worried about Jade!

The OP is "lucky" if you can use that word here that she is terminal and feels the need to make peace wit the world before she passes on. Had that not happened the OP's good name would never be cleared. I doubt she ever would have told the truth otherwise.
I wish that her illness was NOT totally terminal. A better Karma would be the doctors saying that if she gets a very expensive surgery or other form of treatment she will live otherwise she will die and the family uses the money that could have gone towards saving her life to give restitution to the OP. How poetic would that justice be? If what she did to him actually cost her life?

The parents had no rights to expect or ask anything of op after the unforgivable abuse and crimes they subjected him to. First were I op, I'd start action against Jade and her father for defamation. I would look into having my father charged with assault and illegal imprisonment, and go after uncle and parents for the costs of getting a degree, and all the costs of getting back into education so he can apply. Jade may not have the money, but they do and they are as guilty as jade. If it means they become destitute and homeless, we'll, karma, they did that to OP with the added torture of fear and actually placing him with an abusive torturer.
OP should have gone to talk to the police. Having the police come talk to her and investigate the issue would have shook her up.

He would not be believed. It could even backfire on him and he could land up with formal charges himself. Especially if the so called victim is even slightly attractive. No one, even police don't want to believe a pretty girl is capable of false SA. Although things are changing slightly. More and more cops are wearing cameras and mic's so they have to treed carefully now since we all can land up seeing the footage. You can see some of it here on TH-cam but beware some of theses women getting arrested act like animals. WOW.
problem is that it's he say vs she said...the 1st thing a lawyer or police is going to ask is if he has any kind of proof, since its pretty serious accusation, however OP has none, its unlikely the cops would do anything, and if by some miracle a lawyer took his case, he would definitely not do this for free, so OP couldn't pay for the retainer fee anyways... and the other side had video of her "running away crying", while circumstantial, that's more proof than what OP can provide, also because OP is the man or "aggressor", and he's up against the "victim" a woman, whose words tend to get taken more seriously and its 1 v 4 - it's OP's word against 4 of them..
not to mention they took away all his electronic and basically put him on house arrest until they shipped him off, so he couldn't contact anyone to begin with

Technically you are right, but there are several issues.
1st - he do not expect his parents to react the way they reacted.
2nd - he is unemployed and probably do not have experience living outside his house.
3rd - even if overall those situations are not rare, few people will think of logical actions - police, hospital, layers. Actually most of the times it happens because the related parties do not think to relate to procedures and laws.
After all if for example the parents or the uncle have asked (or the cousin will know that they will ask) for hospital checkup, then the cousin will probably immediately tell the truth.
And Jade passes, hopefully alone and with her enablers distancing themselves away from her.
Jade deserves what is happening to her. What she did was so terrible that she actually deserves it. If I was the OP I would gleefully rub it in to her.

Expose the cousin and don't think twice about it.
He should sue the lot for emotional distress. His parents are unbelievably crappy still taking the side of the person who lied and destroyed his life. He was right to go no contact but they will try again. So be prepared to get a restraining order.
I have an idea. I posted above that if the parents want to "reconcile" to him they should make amends to him by giving him ALL of the money that he would have gotten as his college fund had "Jade" not basically STOLEN it from him plus even more as restitution for all of his suffering with no conditions or restrictions on how he uses it. It would be his to do whatever he wants. I think it should be DOUBLE what "Jade" got. Maybe the parents can sell their house and move into a tiny one bedroom apartment or something. When you wrong someone THIS BADLY you have to compensate them in some way if you want ANY hope for reconciliation. Also, I posted above that the parents should have to make a public apology exposed to the ENTIRE COMMUNITY telling IN FULL what happened even if it means they will be hated. Just "apologizing" and wanting to see someone again to "let bygones be bygones" is not enough when you hurt someone THIS BADLY.
It is the worst thing for being falsely accused of SA as that also hurts real victims.
There are victims that have reported to police or anybody else but nothing was done.
She can have a clear "conscience" all she wants. However what was said and done will never be erased.
Had all that time to tell the real truth except she did not.
Even if there will be some that wouldn't believe it, still good to post the truth. Who cares about a reputation as she, the parents and uncle cant compare the pain what OP been through.
And OP could have had his life destroyed andeven end up in jail (depending on the jury) for a very long time ..any idea what they do to SA-ers in jail? Do you think they believe 'you' when you tell them you were framed?

In most places the judge / jury decides on the evidence (and sometimes based on feelings which should not happen)
Tbh I have not seen many cases where a a judge said "well, we know that some ppl lie about cases like this so eventhough I havew evidence I will let the accused go because others lied about a different case!
I think the number of cases I know of is 0!
But I do agree that the threshold for going to the police in the first place will or could be affected! As is informing familymember in fear of not being believed

If I was the OP I would have a really big meal washed down with prune juice before paying a visit to Jade's grave stone. Then I would take photos of the end result and now that I am "allowed" to have social media again I would post the results (you can imagine it) on Facebook and explain it all in writing.
OP struggled to survive after the false accusation and his parents never contacted him until the truth came out. OP is no longer family to his toxic parents and family. OP needs to go NC and cut all contact, that ship has sailed and his family missed the boat.
They didn't just take away 3 years of his life...they took away an entire potential future as he had to give up his college plans and whatever career he was aiming towards.

If I was Op I would tell my parents Inwould only think of reconciling IF all four of them made a fully honest public apology to the whole family and social media, AND the college money my cousin had stolen from me. And once the check cleared, and the starement was posted, I would post "While I feel vindicated the truth came out and appreciate the efforts my estranged family have made, I am not going to pursue contact. The trauma inflicted on me has yet to heal and Im not sure I could ever truly trust I would'nt be thrown away at the next false accusation spoken against me. So I respectfully ask that my family not contact me as I continue to heal from what they put me through."

In these stories of false SA on TH-cam all that seems to happen is being disowned by family but never are criminal charges pressed. I want to know how a family could make it up to a falsely accused person after years of prison and a record that includes being on a "registration" database....
Their are a few, but the person never goes to jail. Because they can’t prove beyond a reasonable doubt.
There is one where the family abandoned them for 15 years because the case got thrown out in court so he wasn’t found innocent…. Even though that literally means he was. He only got cleared in the eyes of the family when the girl was asked about it by his friend in front of them and her story was completely different, she even had the wrong year like 3 years after he was disowned

Jade accused you of the ONE CRIME for which no man has any way of making people believe his side. You lost all your family and friends for three entire years. Noe She is in that boat, revealing her lies has caused her to be alone although she has more of her family than you did! You were right to tell your side when she admitted her lie! Now her parents want you to be quiet so she cal have the peace and quiet as she goes through her ordeal with cancer. Well, now she has it without all her "fair weather friends" as it were, blowing up her phone of dropping by to pitty her and get the latest on her condition to gossip about!

Being terminal and issuing a death bed confession is great, but OP has a chance to face his accuser finally.
His need for closure is greater than the family's desire to avoid scrutiny.
The parents always liked Jade more then op. Also the parents are mad not on Jade losing all of her support. But because the whole family knows how horrble they are. The uncle hasn't reached out and we only know the parents view. I think the parents always knew but they liked Jade more. They just didn't send op to the uncle he didn't like. They sent him there because none of the family would go near the uncle and learn the truth.
It's why they made such a horrible threat against op. The family and his friends would believe op over Jade. They did all of this for their precious Jade. Sadly op will probably have to deal with these toxic people again when op gets married, when Jade finally passes away and when op has kids and they demand to see their grandkids. They would be that toxic people to even try and turn others against op.

Even after knowing the truth, parents and uncle were still on Jade's side. Her dying changed nothing about what she did.
I love how the parents or the uncle did not offer to pay for op's college to buy his silence. If i was OP i would make them pay double what was in my college fund in exchange I would post everything after jade died that way people would have at least gone to her funeral. the money had to be in my account in a week for this agreement. I still think OP should sue jade, his uncle and his parents for defamation. make jade's last days on earth as miserable as possible.

Well, well, well...I'm in my 8th decade (74), seen much of the world (NOT on vacations), met many, many people BUT one thing I've learned is that of the thousands of people I've met (Asia, N. America, S. America, Europe & Africa) is that almost no one is actually willing to stand up for what's right. I don't mean wear a hat to save the whales, a T-shirt to save the environment, etc. but to take a true stance to do the right thing, not just flap your gums about issues. Don't care too much to see Antartica, but I would like to go to Australia. I've served along side of a number them, and they seem to be straight shooters, in more ways than one.....
You know, a really clever predator (evil and sick people can be smart and clever) could specifically target a person who has been proven to have lied about assault and likely they would get away with it. Kind of like the boy who cried wolf.

They can't force the false accuser to be tested since it is invasive and embarrassing for a woman. They can only questioned her only.
He would be serving 20 years in the slammer had he done so. In cases like this, it's presumed guilty until "proven" guilty.
The story would have been better is the friends and relatives all chipped in to send OP to college.

The OP might have been BETTER off if criminal charges had been pressed because most likely he would have gotten exonerated in court.
I would have asked the parents and uncle about the money for college to keep the secret. And if they had saidf that they couldn't give me the money she wasted then I would say that it is impossible for me then to return to the life I had as I no longer had a college fund. So either they cough upo them oney or i go public with whqt happened. And yes I am a cold bastard when it comes to betrayals.

Had the OP NOT heeded the threat of his parents and had the parents carried that threat out and ruined his reputation then I am wondering if once his innocence was proven if he could legally sue the parents for slander or something? Since it never went to any kind of COURT (civil or criminal) he might have been able to sue right away with a good lawyer.
Can you sue a deceased person? Their estate or something if they wrong you badly? Can he at least get what is left of that money that she wasted most of?
Shouldn't the parents make it up to him by giving him all of the money that they would have used to pay for his college, the same amount that went to his cousin, as RESTITUTION with no strings attached and he can do whatever he wants with it?

No you can't . Only a woman that claims being raped will be given a DNA test also known as a rape kit. It's purpose is to see if there is any semen left behind or not. Even if there was semen found it only proves is that sex has happen and is perfectly legal. A woman is allowed by society and the courts to have as much sex as she wants and we can't say anywise. What we need to find out if the sex was the illegal rape and that would be harder to figure out.
As far as the rape kit is concerned quite a few women turn down having it allowed. That makes it more suspicious

If OP had called the police about Jake's accucations, her story wouldn't have stood up and of course she would have refused a physical exam. OP could have then pressed charges. Hopefully a judge would have sent Jade to jail versus community service. OP was right at thumbing his nose at his parents and uncle. NTA imo OP. Jade does not care at all about her reputation, so your putting the truth out on social media will not affect her either way. Jade cares about money. That's all. She has no reputation to defend. She is likely to have screwed a number of people over because of her bad character. That is not why your parents do not want you to tell the truth. They believed Jade, who must already have had some adverse reputation because of what she was already doing, over you and dealt you a very harsh punishment without even giving you the benefit of the doubt. Your trust in them is zero for that, and quite rightly. You are a different person now after what you have been through. You can never go back to what you were three years ago. You have the right to have your name cleared and the right to have it cleared publicly. Your parents do not want you to do that because it shows what bad parents they have been to you. They do not have the right to be protected from the reality of what they did to you. As for having anything to do with them, you have to ask yourself whether people you cannot trust like this would bring anything positive into your life as you work towards going to college, entirely through your own devices, without any support from them? When you graduate, how will you feel about their behaving as though it was with their support that you achieved what you have done? Only you can answer that, but I know how I would feel . This was a police matter, and OP should have hired an attorney and sued her for defamation and extortion. I hate how these OP's allow such injustices. This is not spilled milk. Jade was planning to keep extorting the family until karma got in the way. Forget social media, OP should have written a book.
First off OP needs to make these relatives return all the money they stole from him. This was rightfully his money. He might not be able to get back his lost years but he should at least get his money back. His uncle and his parents need to continue working and pay off OP’s college education while he is in school and to stop assuming they have any authority over his life. They lost that when they kicked him out after stripping him of his life and college fund. The fact that they are still trying to control him on social media still proves they aren’t yet contrite for what they did. They just want to control the optics of the situation. I’m glad OP took control of their life but he still needs to take them to court to reclaim the financial part he lost. If Jade has a life insurance policy he needs to put a lien on her estate or something.
