The way we do extended family meals-typically for 20-25 people-is whoever is hosting cooks the main course, and everyone else brings sides and dessert. It’s just so much easier that way than one person bearing all the responsibility. For me, honestly, the hardest part of hosting a large gathering is cleaning the house! I’m exhausted from cleaning before I even begin cooking, lol!
When I have a bunch of recipes for a big cooking day, I tape them to the cabinet at eye level. It's so helpful to not have to touch them while I'm elbow deep in sticky and wet.
I use a magnet and secure mine to the hood fan for the same reason. I have seen people use a pant/skirt hanger to hold their recipes also, if they can hang it to a cabinet handle. Counter space is too precious to clutter with paper or recipe books. 😉
I've been making family holiday dinners for about 25 people since I was 15 (almost 15 years) and it's still an absolute crap show that tests my relationships with everyone in the house, sometimes there are tears. My husband has learned the fine balance of both helping me and staying out of my way. One day I'll get better at it I swear lol
I have been the same for years 😂 until about a year ago I was like, what’s the point of all of this work if I’m not going to enjoy it? So I have gotten so much better at not letting the stress of the work get to me!
Sooo true! I would enjoy it if everyone else stayed out of the kitchen. It’s so chaotic and they want to taste everything when it isn’t even cooked yet.
You dont need to promise to "get better". You are already hosting a dinner for 25 (!!!!!!!) people by yourself. This is a massive job. And husband isn't helping, he is just doing his part. Please be kind to yourself ♥️
And just BE CALM❤️ when you’re making a whole bunch of food, give yourself grace and be kind. Know that you will get it done and you will feed your people What I do when I stress myself in the kitchen is take a step back and just breathe for a moment and then jump back in :)
I have been folowing you for years. This is my first comment. I want to let you know that you are such an inspiration. The quote about how you eat an elephant, how you can overcome huge tasks by 30 sek a day, using the time when you are waiting for the microwave etc. Has been a game chancer for me. And of course how you are a real person, not afraid to let us see you when you just wake up in the morning or the mess beside your table while doing a q and a. Thank you 💜 // Lena
I'm gonna start doing the cookbook binder. Your videos are my favorite Jordan also writing down how long to cook each thing on your menu, that's genius
That dinner turned out really good. Having freezer-made sides such as the potatoes was very smart (less prep time). Personally I would have made the rolls the day before to save time (and that was funny when the dough expanded and overflowed). And Priya helping you was so helpful.
You blew my mind with the ham glazing. I have never sliced it and glazed prior to baking and it just makes so much more sense I mean the glaze is where all the delicious flavour is! This Christmas I’m trying this method! Today for Mother’s Day I’m making bbq prawns with garlic butter and mussels in red sauce with salad and garlic bread on the side for 8 people.
The ham she got was a precut cured spiral ham that came with a glaze mix, which is standard. You do not glaze when the ham is done, if you have a packet given, follow its instructions. They usually have the glaze applied before, or in the middle of cooking
I mentioned funeral potatoes the other day and my husband, was like "FuNeRaL pOtAtOeS!?! I've NEVER had those!" I had to tell him it's the potato dish his mom makes basically every holiday. 😅
This is a good one for me because I want to have more people over. I didn't come from a big family so it's hard to know how to cook for so many people!
Great video . Love how calm you are I think the dough got too much heat as it was sitting in the stove while the oven was on . But who knows maybe that made it taste even better
I love watching your videos while I'm cooking. With that said, I personally have a hard time with the scenes shot with just music, i can't sit and watch my screen so I miss most of the video.
Did you have enough food? Sometimes your meals and dishes look like not enough food for a family of ten. That seemed like a very small salad, and ham. I suppose you dole out small portions and can count on kids eating smaller amounts, but I personally would rather have extra, than not enough.
It's that kind of thinking that makes kids overweight. Her children are happy and healthy. Half of the family is 6 or under, why are you giving adult portions to 2 year olds?
@@NadiaSeesIt Obviously, she is not giving adult portions to 2 year olds. 🙄 As I said in my comment, you can count on giving kids smaller portions, but it still seemed like a small amount of food for a crowd.
That is the 2nd most expensive ham you can buy. But good job for the rest. My ham glaze is pancake syrup. Easy peezy great job all around. I love Jordan
Jordan do you get help with prepping and cooking meals or cleaning? Some of my TH-cam moms have said it on their channel that they do get help paying someone to come to their home and help out with cooking, cleaning and babysitting.
Gosh I sure with I had help with cooking! Unfortunately I don’t. My kids are helpful though! Especially Priya. We do have cleaning ladies come to occasionally deep clean as mentioned in previous videos which is a LIFESAVER. We use babysitters regularly while we go on dates or work.
A bit too late but still.... Here in Norway you have to make the food and clean up your kitchen before people come to your house. Only what you use when people are there should be dirty. Everything elske should be clean. No tin foil in sight! And ofcourse it's a sit down together and eat dinner.
I gotta say, the food I had in the Nordic regions was some of the worst. You guys don't put much love or flavor into your food. Surprising since you seem to be so judgemental !
Interesting to learn about other cultures! I’m married to a Nigerian man and most Nigerians cook so well like not just Nigerian food but also grilling. And food is an experience that often involves guests like you come over and they’re still cooking or seasoning

That’s what we do, too! People usually volunteer to bring sides and desserts or punch/sodas.
Same!!
When I have a bunch of recipes for a big cooking day, I tape them to the cabinet at eye level. It's so helpful to not have to touch them while I'm elbow deep in sticky and wet.
That is brilliant! Why have I never thought of that?!
Great idea 😂
Genius! Best kitchen tip I've heard in a long time!
Smart

Your such an amazing mom ! I hope to be more like you ❤

I have been using the timeline for years, it is without a doubt the most helpful key to get the meal on the table at the same time and hot.
Spray your measuring cups with cooking spray before using them to measure honey or any sticky ingredients! It will slide right off 😊
Thank you for the tip!!!!
Yes to planning those individual cook/bake times for each item. I do this when planning dinners for my husband and me. ❤️
I really admire your energy to make so many things from scratch. I feel my energy is not even enough to make regular dinners for my family.
Amazing you are a genius and a superwoman
It is so good to see that I am not the only one who does these kinds of things!
I'm gonna start doing the cookbook binder. Your videos are my favorite Jordan also writing down how long to cook each thing on your menu, that's genius
Watching this made me realize there’s a much better way to glaze a ham! Thank you so much!! Very good to see your cooking methods :)
It made me want ham lol
That dinner turned out really good. Having freezer-made sides such as the potatoes was very smart (less prep time). Personally I would have made the rolls the day before to save time (and that was funny when the dough expanded and overflowed). And Priya helping you was so helpful.
Nice meal! Helpful hint for when working with raw dough. Put oil on your hands instead of the flour. Much much better.
I love when family members like my mom shows up 2 hours before the event. She shows up right when I start cooking lol.
I would love homemade meal ideas for feeding a crowd besides burgers, hot dogs and tacos. This video was great. Thank you!
Making a self serve bar is good. Chilli bar, baked potato bar, pasta bar. Make lots of separate bits and let people make their own meal from it.
You blew my mind with the ham glazing. I have never sliced it and glazed prior to baking and it just makes so much more sense I mean the glaze is where all the delicious flavour is! I love watching videos like this with your family!!!!
The Cauliflower stalks in the sea salt flavor are the best!
I love your shelf cooking recipe videos! 💗
As an Italian, that is nowhere NEAR enough food for even six people. I would fear my family would walk out! 🤣
Hahah as a Ukrainian, same here. That amount of salad would feed maybe 6.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, maybe serve 4-5 or possibly 6 w/small appetites.
Loved all these tips but the list of cooking times is genius! 🤯 What a great way to manage time!
Love your pink KitchenAid!
Jordan you should get a Bosch mixer since you have a big family and host so much. It is great for large batch bread.
You are so right. I have both and Bosch is the clear winner for bread.
I so much agree on the cook book with all recipes on paper in one binder!..
For me it's a box with cards I copied recipes on.
👍
I'm loving these types of content❤
You are a rock star! Everything looks yummy!
I'd show up especially for the sweet potato casserole and the homemade rolls! ❤️
Heather r u in KY ?
Love this video! I’m having a birthday party for my daughter soon and will be feeding a crowd.
I would love to see the real time footage with all the family background noise. I makes me feel better knowing you are human 😄
u are legendary - I have a hard time putting a decent dinner on the table for 4 !
Great video . Love how calm you are
I think the dough got too much heat as it was sitting in the stove while the oven was on . But who knows maybe that made it taste even better
Love your pink mixer ❤️
Anyone else need a nap after this video?
What a fun and helpful video!!!! Thank you!!!!!
I love watching your videos while I'm cooking. With that said, I personally have a hard time with the scenes shot with just music, i can't sit and watch my screen so I miss most of the video.
Hi Jordan can you do a video with your children helping with meals and what is age appropriate, I have a 5 and 8 yr old..thanks!!
People who make dough from scratch on the same day as everything else amaze me lol

Did nobody watch this video and see that it's incomplete? Lol

👍♥️😇
Ich liebe deine Videos 😍
Du bist so toll und deine Familie natürlich auch 😍♥️🙏
Send you hello from Germany 👋😊
Great job Jordan 👌 May I ask where I can find the bread recipe please 💕

Me too!!! I am pretty impulsive with the amount of food that I make!!!
I love your videos! Also, I love there's pan you cooked the ham in. Any. chance of finding out where its from? Or even a link for it? Thanks ❤
Hello
The pan for the ham is basically a deep roasting pan with lid.
Do u have a link for your pink mixer?! Can’t tell is that kitchen aide?
Homemade goodness!
That is the 2nd most expensive ham you can buy. But good job for the rest. My ham glaze is pancake syrup. Easy peezy great job all around. I love Jordan
Impressive!
Do you have a 100% whole wheat french bread recipe?
Talkfor great videos & ideas!
Omg I want that huge knife block 👀 😳
Thanks for keeping it real with that dough. Totally something I'd do 🙈

HAHAHa a dough emergency. Priceless.
I can hear Homer Simpson “Doh!”
💜💜💜💜💜
First comment! Thanks Jordan.
Maybe buy rolls for big crowds
Looks overwhelming!

You don’t season Ham? I’m honestly curious because I don’t eat pork so I wouldn’t know. But we season everything 😅
The ham is usually seasoned when they are curing it. I’m not a huge fan as hey are usually pretty salty and sweet.
“Ham” typically found in U.S. is cured pork. Whole hams for occasions like Easter are cured, you can find them usually pre cut, and they come with glaze packets. We like our meat sweet and salty in the U.S.
was anyone else thinking wow thats alot of sugars
The american diet😂
Good morning
👍❤️❤️❤️❤️
16 people? Did everyone just get a whiff of ham and sweet potato? That looks barely enough for your own family. Guests shouldn't expect a lot from the Page's dinners lol
Ah Priya's in big hooped earrings and leopard print too!
You are super woman !
Thank you for removing your long a** intro 😂
People these days can't even sit through a 10 second intro smdh who are you
Get the bonus of hair that falls in the dish.🤮
