I recently put a small plastic bin in my fridge and labeled it “EAT ASAP”- so the stuff that’s going to go bad soon gets put in there, and then we know what to eat first. It’s helped so much!

That’s not true, she has editors do her videos and she training her 8 year old to do it. If you watch her instagram stories from the past few days she doesn’t even do meal planning, her fridge is empty and she’s making up meals on the spot because she didn’t plan anything and didn’t do groceries. She doesn’t follow any of what she preaches in her video. She doesn’t even feed her newborns herself, she just props a bottle up and leaves them on the couch while her two year old plays outside alone. Don’t aspire to be like that.
She does have help. And she does admit to it. If you watch tons of her videos, she has referred it a few times. Their lifestyle (and income) has greatly changed from their beginning videos.
Somewhere in a couple of her older videos she refers to babysitters. And it sounded more like nannies part days, than babysitters for a couple of hours. I figure she has a staff of about 12. I think her husband even works for her now, which says alot. They have come a long way. I can't relate to them at all now. They lost me when they started to go on their exotic vacations with all their children. They have worked hard and seem to have their priorities in order. Their financial advice is superb! But they are definitely out of my realm of reality for every day living.
@@katherine7444 why are you so critical of others. She did everything herself until she was able to afford help which I wish you could as well so you wouldn’t be so jealous.
Great job!!! My daughter is 22 and has been meal planning longer than me. 😁 While working AM hours, she learned to save money on lunch. When she worked 3rd shift, packing was essential. Now, she lives in NY and packing lunch is her normal and will prove to be crucial to her budget.
I love seeing how other people plan their meals. I'm very much a prepper and planner when it comes to grocery shopping. Extra exciting to see how you do this for so many so affordably!
How do I plan my meals? “Okaaaay, so let’s rewatch Jordan’s grocery videos for the 120th time and succeed in convincing myself that I do NOT need another 4 pints of ice cream”

Jordan I am so excited to watch this video!! Had to let you know that meal planning has really helped my family save soooo much money! We are now consumer debt-free and are building up our emergency fund. All because we meal plan, use up everything we have at home & shop smart & frugally. Love your channel! Now onto the video. LOL

Hotdog and hamburger buns make great “garlic bread”. Spread butter on them put garlic salt and parmesan cheese on top and in the oven 350 until golden. So so good!

I would love to see that too. I keep thinking of purchasing a house. And i have a sister planning on buying a house in the future as well. 😁 i would suggest the video to her to watch to see your advice.
What to do when buying a home: be prepared financially with a down payment and be responsible with your credit if you’re getting a loan to finance it!! Get preapproved FIRST and go house shopping after that. No sense in falling in love with a home that you can’t - or don’t want to- afford. House payments + escrow add up quick. And... try really hard to stick with a 15 yr mortgage if you’re financing. Most people don’t realize if they were to stay in the home long term, on a 30 yr mortgage, you’re going to be paying for that home several times over.
Hey Jordan! What I do with onions and peppers is I chopped them when I get them and throw them in freezer bags and freeze them! That way they don’t go bad before I can get to them! I was missing them in my fridge for some reason! Thanks for sharing. 😉
The month of May I took your advice and meal planned not for a week but for a whole MONTH. I put eating out twice a month and it helped SO MUCH. I have saved 165$. Every-time I don’t know what to eat we would order out and that’s like 30$ a meal!!! Thank you Jordan!
Shelf cooking is such a great way to save money!! Recently, I have been shelf cooking at home since we have been staying at home. I find my cooking skills increasing and I have learned how to make so many new dishes!
I just want to say that I really enjoy your videos Jordan! Even though your videos are more targeted towards parents I find they're beneficial for anyone like me (single lady). Using your plan concept of which meals to plug in on which day, I use whatever is leftover from Monday to "roll-over" and add to Tuesday, etc... Sooo, I'll cook on Sunday and have chicken leftovers. On Monday, we'll eat the Chicken leftovers and add a fresh side. On Tuesday, we'll use leftover side with a fresh meat. On Wednesday, we'll use leftover meat with a new side... this method has saved us from having ANY unused food or from having too many leftovers! My other go-to system is to cook large meals on Monday and Wednesday, since we have meetings on Tuesday's and Thursday's. Those nights, we can have leftovers. Friday, Saturday and Sunday is more relaxed and we could make an easy meal, go out to eat or Hubby takes his turn and cooks. Some weeks, we'll have leftovers for lunch amd make a fresh meal every night.
We're big on leftovers too. We'll eat something, let the rest sit in the fridge for about up to 4 extra days and usually finish off the rest of it. Love the aunt idea of a chest freezer as a side table. I think during quarantine, that's my new home project.
I don't know why your videos came up on yt for me...but I love it...its so easy to listen you how you make this and that..you r not pretending..you r real person and thank you on that..😘 from Croatia
and I like so much that you get focused on your task during the day even when the kids are messing around and making noise. How you get motivated and focused on the day, when you feel down?????????
I just have to say THANK YOU!! I've been watching your videos for a while now and with your help I've definitely turned around our family spending habits. After a year, we now have weekly meal plans and budgets in place for grocery shopping and we have saved so much money. You are a WONDERFUL INSPIRATION ❤
It's dinnertime in Germany right now and I'm eating leftover pasta from my roommate's lunch that she wanted to toss, mixed with leftover baked beans from breakfast and some cream from a couple of days ago. Added spices and herbs, threw some cheese on top, popped it in the oven and boom, dinner. It's so flipping delicious, I will make it on purpose again for sure. Making the meal I planned to make and throwing the leftovers away wouldn't have killed me financially, and I am very grateful for that, but it feels great to know that I just saved the ~5€ that meal would've cost 💕
Shelf cooking has made me so inventive! Honestly one of my favourite tips for using leftovers is that basically anything tastes good if you mix it with pasta, throw some cheese on top and bake it 😂 I once made chicken tikka masala and then used the leftovers in pasta bake and it's now one of my favourite meals, weird as it sounds :')
Girl I LOVE your videos! We've saved so much money just by shelf cooking! I'm amazed at how well you can manage 6 kids and 2 newborns! I can only handle 1. 😂😂 Your videos motivate me! So thank you! ♥️♥️♥️
Thank you so much for this tips. I can breath now 😁😁😁 Since i start this journey on saving money and cut on grocery, meal prep , i still can make amazing recipes and have enough food for all the month. When i saw that you post a video i took a pen and a notebook and start writing down the steps. Thank you Jordan, you are amazing. Take care and stay safe. 🤗😘🤗😘
Been following for years. Having a *really* hard time feeding my family of three on a $300 budget lately. I used to do pretty good, but last two months have been rough. Anyone else relate?
I can totally relate. I feel like I am hawling gigantic amounts of food into the fridge ALL THE TIME and it just disappears. 😳 I do have an explanation for it though... Thanks to COVID-19 we (family of 4) are all home ALL the time. So we eat every single meal at home and also, I heard from a lot of folks that they just eat so much more because they are bored most of the time. So yeah... Our grocery bill has skyrocketed. On the upside: we save a lot of money too, because everything is closed and we have no social life anymore 😂
I started making homemade fruit sorbet/ice cream and snacks and bake cookies on top of making homemade food anyways. That way it's a lot healthier and it's so much cheaper because usually all store bought snacks are heavy packaged, heavily processed and a lot more expensive. I imagine that since people stay home more, they eat more. Also making snacks and baking and all is an awesome activity to pass time and include children 🙈 don't have any of my own yet but my little sister always gets excited when it comes to helping in the kitchen and do fun stuff
I have been spending more on groceries, but we have been spending a lot less on takeout or restaurants so it has been balancing out. Before this virus had hit though I had almost completely depleted my pantry and I have been spending the last two months trying to restock my house with the essentials as well as buy enough food for us to eat.
You have helped me and my family so much. We’re a family of 6 with 4 small kiddos and you’re videos have been absolute gold! I will be definitely ordering your planner when it’s back in stock! ♥️
When i am really bored with my recipes, i select 1 vegetable that I have to Cook every single evening for a week. Like carrot week with carrot puree, braised carrot, carrotsoup, carrot in the oven, carrot salad, carrot cake... It sparks my creativity!!!
It makes me happy to know I’m not the only person who goes around every week making a written inventory of everything I own and planning meals off of it. Though, I hit Costco monthly, so all the weeks following I need so very little, mostly fresh things.
We are empty nesters so when I make meatloaf from back of Lipton onion soup mix it calls for two pounds of protein. I make the original recipe but instead of baking the whole thing, I bake half and put the uncooked half in the freezer. That way I cook it another night and do not have a ton of leftovers.
All of theses tips are so valuable. The recipe notebook is a winner! I started mine when I moved out at 18 I’m 42 now my book got so full I hat to split it to two savory and sweet.
Would love to see a video on tips on how to save with common baby items! IE: wipes, diapers, formula , baby food etc. where to find the best deals or what to look for to get the best deal!
you said shredded chicken, re-fried beans, corn, and tortillas... i instantly thought of Mex chicken tacos lol... sounds good! I had lost all my info and i had to make a new email, thus having to re-sub to my fav youtubers and I couldn't find you. I'm not sure if i was typing your name in wrong, but it has been a sad few months... finally came across you again, so excited! -mom of seven. Thanks for always keeping it REAL!
I’d like to see a cooking video of some of the new meals that used up the leftovers. Like, did the roasted vegetables from the fridge end up in the Mexican casserole? Thx and have a great day!
It's like my family refuses to cook with food from the pantry. I don't think we've ever gotten down to even half of our pantry goods. Drives me crazy when they spend lots of money almost every week even though we have plenty to eat.
Everything just seems so seamless with you, no matter what ! You are such an inspiration, I’ve got three kids and have started to implement your block schedule as best I can - waiting for your productivity planner to come back ! I love to jot things down and this helps so much... ty for all your videos and tips ! ✅🙏🏼💕
I cant tell you how much i look forward to watching all your videos. I dont have kids but my husband and I are on our debt free journey and your videos are soo encouraging bot only for frugal living but also to b productive. If you can do all this w 8 kids I definitely can too! 👏🏻😉
YES!! You got this! Here's a post we recently wrote on meal planning for two! shelfcooking.com/meal-planning-for-two/ It might have some helpful tips for you!
Jordan since watching your show, I have saved so much money for my family! My husband and I bought a deep freezer this year and it has helped so much. We are a family of 5 and we hardly eat out anymore. Thank you for all of your tips!
One of the biggest things to help my family, surprisingly, was setting out food I wanted to get rid of. Obviously this doesn't apply to everything lol. but a half bag of Pretzels, a handful of raisins, cut up snacky vegetables or fruit, etc. I'll put them in small bowls, (making it a grab as they walk by option) and let them sit on the table or kitchen counter. Now food that has been sitting for weeks or more suddenly vanishes in an hour! My kids(and husband) love this, and I love it because I am not wasting nearly as much food as I was before I started doing it!
I've started doing this more, with our family being home due to the coronavirus. We have a list of meal options and a shopping list for as and when we run out. Its works well, we'll eat what going first, then have some freezer meal ideas.
Hi Jordan, love the meal plan video. I use the notepad on my phone a lot. Another video you said that you wash all the ziplock sandwich and snack bags until they cannot be used any more. I started washing them too and found that they are quite sturdy or durable. We go through bags a lot slower now. It saves the environment and saves money. Thank you for sharing. God bless
This might totally be redundant but I would love to see you do this every week! It’s legit the hardest thing in my life to meal plan and keeping things under budget!! You’re one of my fave TH-camrs and make it all look so easy!!
I need to start doing this, I can save on groceries but I don’t meal plan so lazy but I need to start ASAP so I don’t stress daily on what to do for food. Ugh 😫 Thank youuuuu
We plan dinners very similar to the way you do it. 😍 One thing we do is to buy cheap meat/chicken that has almost expired (and therefore is 50% off) and put in the freezer (for next weeks dinners). Blessings from Norway! 🇳🇴🙏❤️
Love your videos! I definitely got tons of ideas from this video! One thing I’d like to suggest is to use Pinterest! I don’t print or screenshot recipes. I just have pin boards to help categorize them. Then if there is a winner I have a board where I re-save those recipes. Once or twice a year I screenshot those fav recipes and use free print books to print them nicely in a little book 😊. Then delete the screenshots from my phone so they aren’t cluttering things up. Just wanted to share incase that helps anyone else!
You can't freeze fruits/veggies with a lot of water content ex. Cucumber, zucchini, etc. They turn out mushy when defrosted. Other than that, almost anything else can be frozen!
Hah, I think the meal planning title makes sense, it’s just that she didn’t do a meal prep video. Insert recipe here ___ based on your shelf for shelf cooking.
My mother did "Jumble Pie." She chopped together many savory leftovers. Depending on the seasoning of the underlying ingredients, she added barbecue sauce, sour cream gravy (I swear, boot leather would taste good with my mother's sour cream gravy!), or a spicy Italian-inspired red sauce. She added vegetables either leftover or frozen. Put the whole thing in a large pie crust in a cast iron pan. Sometimes it had a top crust, sometimes she just sprinkled on bread crumbs and cheese, sometimes she topped with leftover mashed potatoes. Bake on medium heat until tasty. It works a treat.
We’re a family of 7 50% of the time 5 the other 50%, we live in a 2 bedroom trailer. The washer and dryer are in my bedroom and we recently added a deep freeze lmao
It’s just me and my daughter but her dad does stayovers to help and visit and I definitely think having an extra freezer or frig/freezer outside in the garage would help 🤗The freezer meals have been LIFE 💖😍
I started using Fetch by your recommendation months ago. At first, it was pretty good, as it loads you with bunch of points right away as a sign up bonus. But after redeeming those points for a $10 gift card, I realized there is not much use for it. As a means to save, I shop for generic stuff, and Fetch only gives you points for certain brand names. So 25 points for each receipt is like a drop in an ocean, where you have to have at least 5000 to redeem for a $5 gift card.
These apps are trying to get you to buy products you wouldn't normally buy. I use Caddle and Checkout 51 but they are the same with mostly having products I don't normally buy. At least you get a check with them so you can buy whatever you want with it and not a gift card.
refer others for more points! I'll bet Jordan is getting a TON of referrals. I'd join with her but I already use Fetch. I also use ibotta and receipt hog and coin out.
Hugs and cookies! 🍪🍪🍪🍪 Edit: your sense of humor and down to earth energy and "bloopers" are so refreshing and genuine! Love it 😊 Also, any phone can download Google Keep! It's a fantastic note-taking app that syncs across all devices you download it on.
Aww thanks! We'll look into it! Since all of our devices are Apple, the notes app shares with the other devices, too! PLUS we can share notes within the team when we're working on projects...like TH-cam videos!

I love that you don't let anything go to waste, it's such a great way to lessen your impact on the environment
You are amazing! Hope you are ok. And hope everyone’s families are ok. Stay Safe!
Thank you so much! Stay well and safe yourself!
I've discovered the most delicious meals with the exact same method!
Like I said....you’re a superhero. I get stressed out meal planning for only three of us. You go, momma!
Hey Jordan literally love watching your every video it is so much learning and top of it the way you have patience and things you do just love it!!!
Mother of 6 here! Super thankful for all your videos! I'm working on getting better with meal planning, it's been such a struggle lol
Aww thanks for the LOVE! Glad shelf cooking is helping you!
I do this already, because of you! However, we are vegan, so I start with the veggies and build a meal around the veggie(s) for the night.
Also: current me thanks past me for putting extra pans of Pasta Bake in the freezer last month. Quick dinner = happy me!
Jordan! You make meal planning so fun! Thanks! Sending love to you and your family!
I do have an explanation for it though...
We’re experiencing the same thing.
I have a family of five and I can’t seem to keep my budget below $600 lol
You have helped me and my family so much. We’re a family of 6 with 4 small kiddos and you’re videos have been absolute gold! I will be definitely ordering your planner when it’s back in stock! ♥️
When i am really bored with my recipes, i select 1 vegetable that I have to Cook every single evening for a week. Like carrot week with carrot puree, braised carrot, carrotsoup, carrot in the oven, carrot salad, carrot cake... It sparks my creativity!!!
What a great idea! I've never thought of cooking this way!
Agreed. And I would like to see if her Tips Work in Germany too.
you said shredded chicken, re-fried beans, corn, and tortillas... i instantly thought of Mex chicken tacos lol... sounds good!
Hey DeAnna! So glad you found us again! ❤️
I’d like to see a cooking video of some of the new meals that used up the leftovers. Like, did the roasted vegetables from the fridge end up in the Mexican casserole? Thx and have a great day!
I just want to say I love you and your videos. You are so positive and happy and I love that.
Aww thanks, Angel!
We are a family of 10 as well and love your videos! :)
I love that Jordan is quirky and fun but still is straight forward (makes me laugh and makes me learn stuff) 😂😉
Hello 👋🏻 Jordan😁
Shelf cooking is just so fun 😊😊
Saved me many times and empty out The fridge betveen The shopping trips 🙃🙃
It's like my family refuses to cook with food from the pantry. I don't think we've ever gotten down to even half of our pantry goods. Drives me crazy when they spend lots of money almost every week even though we have plenty to eat.
Your videos are so value-adding! I always learn something from you that helps my day-to-day life 😊
I have save loads with your videos I love them. Thank you for making them. ☺️
So glad to hear this!
Congrats on saving so much! You did all of the hard work!
I’m SO excited! I haven’t watched this video yet, but I already know it’s going to be good!!
Hope you like it!
Love this . Unedited real life of a family with kids
My family keeps a running shared note on keep where we write every meal we like so we always have ideas
❤
Great idea!
Awesome!
Jordan: I love using the check bubbles
Me, having used notepad on mob for years: we can add checklist bubbles 😳
Awesome video thank you xx
I've started doing this more, with our family being home due to the coronavirus. We have a list of meal options and a shopping list for as and when we run out. Its works well, we'll eat what going first, then have some freezer meal ideas.
perfect time just doing my freezer inventory
Oh for sure! It definitely is the perfect time!

I'm going to need you to start posting like three times a day. You are literally the only TH-cam channel I eagerly wait for new videos from.
Wow it’s like you have 10 more hrs in day than me 🙈. Thanks for sharing 👍👍
I love watching your videos when you include your whole family in it
Thanks for this video!! I have been on the struggle bus lately with meals!
You got this! We have a HUGE list of meal ideas here! funcheaporfree.com/foodie-tuesday-what-to-make-for/
Hi Jordan, love the meal plan video. God bless
Funny enough, I grabbed my phone to browse TH-cam to avoid meal planning and I see this. Guess this is a sign to meal plan along with you! 😂
HA!!!!!! YASSSSS!!! Get those meals planned!
Everyone can always appreciate all your ideas,so helpful thanks so much Jordan😃🙏
Hey Jordan, I just thought of this as you mentioned doubling and freezing: what items or meals with certain items should you *never* freeze?
There's very little you can't freeze! If you can find it frozen in the freezer section at the store, it can be frozen at your house!
@@jordanpagecompany Thank you. I worry I'll always put the wrong thing in the freezer.
You can't freeze fruits/veggies with a lot of water content ex. Cucumber, zucchini, etc. They turn out mushy when defrosted.
Other than that, almost anything else can be frozen!
Frozen zucchini is awesome in smoothies!!
@@bobbijohall9395 Ja it depends what you are planning to do after the freezing.
I love your family! I take a lot that you say into consideration and into my home ! Thank you
What i thought I was gonna learn: how to meal plan.
What I really learned: Tomatoes don't go in the fridge 🤔
😂😂😂
You are just superwoman aren’t you 🥰🥰
Right?!! I am just in awe of you mama ❤️ I could listen to you for a lifetime!
You are so funny, crazy & HELPFUL!! You are my favorite person!
It's 30 seconds in and I'm so READAAAYYYYY ❤️
Your way of being straight to the point, organized, and come across well and clearly amazes me! A very neat and though out video! ❤️
We’re a family of 7 50% of the time 5 the other 50%, we live in a 2 bedroom trailer. The washer and dryer are in my bedroom and we recently added a deep freeze lmao
Go girl! You doing it!
Love u girl.... Starting this right away
Whaa? Family of 7 50% of the time 5 the other 50%. What does IT MEAN
Olle Dolata step kids. I have 2 steps and we do a week on week off schedule
Rachel Cantu it’s rough some days but I know it’ll be worth it.
Agreed . It’s not that of a big help
refer others for more points! I'll bet Jordan is getting a TON of referrals. I'd join with her but I already use Fetch. I also use ibotta and receipt hog and coin out.
@@janicetubman8378 agree. There aren't any apps that make the effort worth it. The only app that is good is the Racetrac gas station app.
Thanks for reminding me to do this before we go shopping tomorrow. Right on time!
Hugs and cookies! 🍪🍪🍪🍪
Edit: your sense of humor and down to earth energy and "bloopers" are so refreshing and genuine! Love it 😊
Also, any phone can download Google Keep! It's a fantastic note-taking app that syncs across all devices you download it on.
Aww thanks!
We'll look into it! Since all of our devices are Apple, the notes app shares with the other devices, too! PLUS we can share notes within the team when we're working on projects...like TH-cam videos!
@@jordanpagecompany Thanks for the info! I'll have to let my Apple friends know that. I haven't ever them comment about that and it's a great feature!
@@jordanpagecompany it would make me SO HAPPY if you respond to my comment! I'm having a really bad day and so it would make me SO HAPPY if you respond to my comment!
I like Evernote as well.
You are absolutely AWESOME! i admire your personality and you are seriously just AWESOME! Wish i had you as a friend! Your ideas and systems are genius! Everytime i watch your videos i always learn something new! THANK YOU FOR DOING WHAT YOU DO. STAY AWESOME JORDAN 😁

Aww thanks for the smile!
That was funny

Sorry
Thank you!! I've just discovered your chanel and I love your videos on meal planning. I have started implementing them as of last week and I already saw a decrease in my grocery budget!!! I'm so excited. We are a single income family- I'm a stay at home mom, so whenever I can find a way to save money I do it!!! You are an inspiration ❤️
