Tedding, raking, and baling the last of first cutting dry hay. Making round bales for the cows on our upstate New York dairy farm. #farming #equipment #hay #roundbales #dairyfarm #johndeere
Great video Mike. Sonne farms in South Dakota they pull a fifth wheel trailer with one of there tractors the bale Speer is set up to pick up two doesn't seem to tear up the field just an idea
Definitely. Got to watch where you put those bales. Fantastic your done love the drone footage 👏 Would it be possible in the future? To put up a poll barn to put the hay in instead of wrapping it? would be cheaper Looks a good skid steer great dealer letting you use while yours is fixed Take care have a good one cheers 🍻
Thanks for using the Drone whenever possible I know it can be a pain but sure gives awesome shots of what's going on in the field great job keep up the great work
So much contempt when you said “square bales” 😂 Round baling on hills can be tricky, I’ve dropped a bale where I thought it was going to lay just fine, only to watch it roll away, lol
Always nice to finally get that first cutting. Kinda wondering when this was recorded. We got very lucky with second cutting. Cut a little over 80 acres of second cutting just in time and we have good weather. If it fills the silo we can still bale the rest but small squares for inside the mow.
First! 😂 It's always nice to finish a cutting, hopefully you get a little break for the Fair, and have a chance to watch the kids show. It's great that they are doing that, and I hope they do well! 👍👍
Thanks Morgan. I'm looking forward to watching the kids show. I'm hoping the weather cooperates this upcoming week to make things be a good week for everyone
Hey Mike. Really enjoyed the video. Great drone work. I've said it before, but it's is really pretty country up there. Hay looks good and that kuhn baler makes a really nice bale. Enjoy the fair. Take care buddy👍
Looking real nice that hay, mayby you can do an sort of timelapse when you drive on the road ,stay safe and cool, thanks and greetings from a Dutch dairyfarmer
Great vid.. and you think your skidsteer is old you should check out my sperry newholland one 😂.. your hay is looking good sir bales look fantastic.. but hearing the need for small squares still sending shivers down me 😮🤣.. stay safe 🏴
Did that skid steer have the pilot controls? I find it much easier to operate a skid steer with pilot controls. That Kuhn makes nice tight bales. Great video. Good luck at the fair.
I THOUGHT YOU WERE DONE WITH FIRST CROP MIKE. WE ARE DONE WITH 2ND CROP AND NOW WILL BE WAITING FOR 3RD CROP WONT DO IT TILL SEPTEMBER TIME FRAME. BUT LOVE YOUR VIDEOS
It is kind of funny to me how people get paranoid about using the skid steer on the field. It's faster than a tractor and saves the steering gear and transmission on your tractor not having to load bales, and is safer. No one has ever had a bale roll on them while moving them with a skid steer. Any damage done to the ground around here grows back in short order and you have less ground pressure to stunt the growth of grass. Best of all no loading square bales in that hay loft! Kittens are fun for sure as are ducklings!
I have been thinking this for a while. What do you have to move round bales in Winter, a problem winter, ice or deep snow. Will you need chains for the wheel loader? What you have Planned?
hi how is the hay is it really dry first cutting, i live in hadley ma and have a farm been very wet rain and humied. where is this farm , thanks for posting and field get fertlizer also thanks.
I wrapped a bunch of dry hay and just didn't put as many wraps on it as the baleage. I'll probably wrap most of the bales in this video. I have a bunch I didn't wrap that I will feed first
MikeP7810 I would rather tear up a little ground in the hay field with a skid steer on tires than the skid steer on tracks that I use out in the hay field
Hay Mike, keep up the great work! Love the videos!
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoy the videos
Love watching u cutting hay
Thank you Patrick
You made a great choice with that round baler Mike! Looking good
Thank you. We are really happy with it
It's almost like hay season never ends😀. I always like a good hay video, keep it up.
It does seem like hay season just keeps going on
That double spear is pretty cool
It does speed things up
Always great content and stories
Thank you John
Another awesome vid! Stay safe and have fun
Thank you Gene
Great video Mike. Sonne farms in South Dakota they pull a fifth wheel trailer with one of there tractors the bale Speer is set up to pick up two doesn't seem to tear up the field just an idea
Thanks Paul. Something to look into

A poll barn would be nice, we are just very limited in space
Thanks for using the Drone whenever possible I know it can be a pain but sure gives awesome shots of what's going on in the field great job keep up the great work
Thank you Jack. I really enjoy the drone and think it adds so much to the video
A thought, perhaps a loader on one of the tractors for field loading. Maybe a way to fit in your budget
Its one of the things we've talked about
Never too many haying vids Mike. 😊
Thanks Don. Glad you enjoy them
Man I wish I was wrapping up first cut! Awesome video Mike! 👍
Thank you. I still have to get the bales back to the farm and wrapped but good to have them all baled up
So much contempt when you said “square bales” 😂
Round baling on hills can be tricky, I’ve dropped a bale where I thought it was going to lay just fine, only to watch it roll away, lol
I've had a couple get away from me this year. Hid a couple in the bushes to see if I can find them later
The drone gives a good look at how close to the river you are. Lots of water real close by. More shots like that when you get the opportunity please.
I love the looks and views the drone provides
Great Video Mike, Good to see the Hay being baled, thanks for sharing
Thanks Tony. Glad you enjoyed
Some good looking first cutting
Thanks Mark. Cows should like it
No matter the topic I look forward to your video’s.
Thanks Glen I really appreciate it

It was recorded over the past couple of days
First! 😂 It's always nice to finish a cutting, hopefully you get a little break for the Fair, and have a chance to watch the kids show. It's great that they are doing that, and I hope they do well! 👍👍
Thanks Morgan. I'm looking forward to watching the kids show. I'm hoping the weather cooperates this upcoming week to make things be a good week for everyone
love your videos Mike you do a lot of bales
Thank you. I appreciate it
Hey Mike. Really enjoyed the video. Great drone work. I've said it before, but it's is really pretty country up there. Hay looks good and that kuhn baler makes a really nice bale. Enjoy the fair. Take care buddy👍
Thanks Kevin. I've been really happy with the Kuhn Baler. It does make a really nice, tight bale
Looking real nice that hay, mayby you can do an sort of timelapse when you drive on the road ,stay safe and cool, thanks and greetings from a Dutch dairyfarmer
I'll have to try that sometime and see how it looks
Looking good Mike.
Thank you
Great video. I enjoy the hay videos.
Thank you James
Great vid.. and you think your skidsteer is old you should check out my sperry newholland one 😂.. your hay is looking good sir bales look fantastic.. but hearing the need for small squares still sending shivers down me 😮🤣.. stay safe 🏴
Yeah that's going to be a fun time climbing up into the hay mow
Did that skid steer have the pilot controls? I find it much easier to operate a skid steer with pilot controls. That Kuhn makes nice tight bales. Great video. Good luck at the fair.
Thanks Rick, I hope fair week goes well. The skid steer had the foot controls
I THOUGHT YOU WERE DONE WITH FIRST CROP MIKE. WE ARE DONE WITH 2ND CROP AND NOW WILL BE WAITING FOR 3RD CROP WONT DO IT TILL SEPTEMBER TIME FRAME. BUT LOVE YOUR VIDEOS
I was done with 1st cutting chopped hay. Baling we still had a lot to go
@@mikep7810 OH OK
that skidsteer must have a nice price tag
Its a used one. Has cab, heat, & air. They didn't bring it down with the door though. Has a tag on it for 35
Really nice tedder. What brand is it?
Thank you. Its a Pequea TT6101

That is the best part is stacking them with the wheel loader and not in the hay mow
We stack with the payloader when we’re moving the hay mover then when we use the semi to haul we load it with a tractor and unload with the payloader
I have been thinking this for a while. What do you have to move round bales in Winter, a problem winter, ice or deep snow. Will you need chains for the wheel loader? What you have Planned?
We have the wheel loader. The winter wont be a problem
What are you going to do with all that grass hay Mike?
Feed a lot of it and sell what we can
hi how is the hay is it really dry first cutting, i live in hadley ma and have a farm been very wet rain and humied. where is this farm , thanks for posting and field get fertlizer also thanks.
Its been a really hot/dry summer so far. Hay is pretty dry
Are going to rap all you hay now or just your bail age
I wrapped a bunch of dry hay and just didn't put as many wraps on it as the baleage. I'll probably wrap most of the bales in this video. I have a bunch I didn't wrap that I will feed first
What did you buy a new skid steer
Didn't buy a new skid steer. I mentioned in the beginning why we have that one there
MikeP7810 I would rather tear up a little ground in the hay field with a skid steer on tires than the skid steer on tracks that I use out in the hay field
I'm glad they didn't drop off a tracked machine
You need a loader on one of your tractor
Or a loader tractor
Bad choice with the baler. You need a Newholland.
New Holland makes a pretty nice bale but in no way did I make a bad choice with this Kuhn baler
