I saw that short and I thought holy jeez you guys have a beast of a chopper all of a sudden not realizing it was the neighbors. I said to my Dad that maybe she should get one of these and do custom chopping. He might actually be thinking about it if the price is right..... It always comes down to is the price right. Those dump wagons are kinda cool for a bunker operation.
I wouldn't mind this chopper at all. Our New Holland is still doing a great job so not really in the market for a new chopper. Too many other things to get 1st
Quite the chopper Mike. I remember number years back one of our neighbors had a dump wagon like that a medium duty truck with the open box. I though it was the neatest thing .
Loved seeing the pull harvester. Rather unusual sight these days. Also, really liked the hinged cover on the tilt cart! I assume that is homemade. Thanks!
When the corn season comes, harvesting corn with a giant machine is very easy, unlike in the old days when our grandparents picked corn by hand, which was very hard work 🥰
I believe you can get extra long spouts for then to chop right into trucks like the self-propelleds. . .I'm amazed at how that 44 pulled the chopper, must be turned up a few turns!
If it was turned up much it would be making more smoke than that. He's getting 4 rows bit he's only going about 1.5 maybe 2 mph we did 2 rows with our 7810 and 6-7 mph so we were still getting almost twice as much done in half as many rows.
i remember working for H Rubin & son , cobleskill . old man Sol . " i sell the BEST forage equipment around in Dion !!" junior , AL Rubin , "yeah , but no body wants to PAY that much for it" prb seems "inexpensive" to selfpropelled stuff thoe 😮😅
We had a 2430 basically same chopper only with the jd knife drum and green paint. With a 3row head behind a 7930 and it could have used more hp in good corn. Way easier backing under the dump wagon then pulling in thats how we always did it. Good video mike thanks for sharing
Agreed, way easier to back into the dump box. It's difficult to see anything pulling into it forward. We have a 2430 also, have pulled it with a JD 7810, and 8110, and the chopper could handle more HP.
Based on video they didn’t look like they was running much ground speed, that and it looked pretty flat ground too. I imagine you put the 4455 on some hilly terrain it would really work the snot out of it. Also not sure if the Dion had a processor on it to make sure the kernels got cracked.
There is a couple factors that goes into his speed. He has a 4 row chopper in really good corn and he is also using a tractor that is on the lower side of the horsepower rating for this chopper. Like Will said, he is actually chopping at the same speed that he chops with his FP240 with a higher horsepower tractor. This chopper is rated to take up to a 300 HP tractor so if they were running a higher HP tractor he could probably pick up a little more speed
On Dion's website the horsepower rating for this chopper is 120-300. I don't know what the neighbors have the 4455 set at but its handling the 4 row good on the lower side of the chopper horsepower rating
Deere quit building their own pull type choppers in favor of selling the Dion choppers with a Deere style cutterhead a few years ago. They are nice choppers, though.........
Yes that is the Dion 2430 that they painted green and used the John Deere cutterhead. I've seen pictures and some videos of them but never saw them in person
Can’t blame them, for no more than they sell and the fact they were such an old design for modern power, partnering with Dion was the sensible choice. I hear this year is the last for New Holland pull choppers, so I reckon for new pull types Dion will be the only ones left.
It all depends on a person's set up. This chopper comes with the longer spout that shoots directly into the trucks like a self propelled. That seems great but this farm has only the 1 truck and 1 driver for that truck so this way works good for them
Great harvesting.
Thank you. I hoping we can possibly try this chopper out during haylage. That will be neat to try now that we have our own merger
Cool video. One of the rare video of a pull type with a high dump wagon. Keep up the cool stuff to watch
Thank you Tim. I'm glad you enjoyed it
Heck of a chopper Mike . Great video
Thanks Paul. Definitely a nice chopper
Great video , that chopper really does the job, congratulations , stay safe & enjoy!!
Thank you Robert
Sweet video I have never seen a wagon like that. Nice chopper!
Thank you Glen. It is definitely a nice chopper

Thank you. There are still quite a few farms around here that uses a pull type chopper. I'm not sure about the roof of the neighbor's wagon
Really good video Mike👍👍

Takes another truck or 2, and driver's that can pull up on the "off" side and not hit anything. 😮🤣

Awesome vid! That is a beast of a machine!
Thanks Gene. Definitely a nice machine

very cool! thanks for the video!
Thank you.
👀🙄🐾👍Great video Mike silage looked a bit dry
Not sure what their moisture was running at. I know when we chop our corn looks really dry and you'd be surprised how much moisture is still in it
That 44 must a runner to take 4 rows like that 🤯
Its a good tractor
@@mikep7810 THANKS FOR THE VIDEO MIKE
@@MATTREBARCHEK28 Thanks Matt
You went to a Dion. Have 340 HP on it and it takes every bit of it. Beautiful chopper.
It is a beautiful chopper. Maybe someday

Nice video Mike

Jeez...what a beast!
Definitely a nice chopper
That looks awesome
Definitely an awesome chopper
I ran a two row on a 3255 110 horse she worked hard and slow going miss them days the sound of a chopper eating corn was music to ears
Gotta love chopping corn
cool vid did not know there was a row pull type chopper bet the tractor was pulling hard to run it
Thank you. The tractor actually handled it well
Potent chopper, and I don't think the tractor is exactly factory spec on the injector pump. 🤔 Great video, Mike!👍👍
I'm not sure where they have it. I don't see smoke pouring out of the pipe so if they have it turned up they don't have it turned up much
Those Dion choppers will eat alot of material. We have a F41 Dion. We have the grass head and a 3 row Dion corn head.
I was pretty impressed seeing it work
That's quite the machine never seen a four row pull chopper
@@johnhenderson299 Pretty impressive chopper indeed
Was that 4455 turned up? 4 rows seems like a lot of corn for 140 hp
I'm not sure what he has it running at. If it is it might just be a little, you don't see black smoke pouring out of the pipe
Based on video they didn’t look like they was running much ground speed, that and it looked pretty flat ground too. I imagine you put the 4455 on some hilly terrain it would really work the snot out of it. Also not sure if the Dion had a processor on it to make sure the kernels got cracked.
Great video Mike. Hope yslls silage is close.
Face it boys...the older deere's performed !!!!
You need around 300hp to actually make that chopper work
Looks awesome although a little bit slower speed ?
Looks a great setup
Cheers
Was actually running tractor same gear they normally run woth a FP240 and 3 row head

Is that same as a JD with different knives?....I heard some where Dion was building choppers for JD ?....
Yes Dion has a chopper that they paint green and they put in a John Deere cutterhead in it. Everything else is the same as this chopper
Truck sounds like it has a Detroit 6-71 in it.
I'm not sure what it has in it. I always liked the sound of a Cat or a Cummins over a Detroit
@@mikep7810 I didn't say I liked it. 🤣
Nice crop just amazing if you had the 300 hp on it it be very useful
Yeah even if they were running 200 HP it would be nice to see what it could do
They are asking alot out of that poor 4455 putting 4 rows through that chopper.
They didn't push it. They found a good speed to take the 4 rows at
seems to chop very easy
It did a great job
I have a Jd4555 with 210 hp.
Nice
Hi , its "eating the corn" so fast. But i think 100k Euros is bit to high price for it. Did you hear about Celikel CHALLENGER III (Turkey)?
No, I haven't heard about the Celikel Challenger III
Were they running a kernel processor?
Right behind the cutterhead
I thought you bought a new chopper
Bamboozled again
I know what a stinker!

Wonder how many horsepower ya have to have to run that four row chopper ?
On Dion's website the horsepower rating for this chopper is 120-300. I don't know what the neighbors have the 4455 set at but its handling the 4 row good on the lower side of the chopper horsepower rating

Some of that corn seemed a bit past it's best, yes??
There was still plenty of moisture in it. It was some good silage
