    Thank you, this was the demo I needed to see and you have nailed it. Covering these necessary aspects of this amazing art, has made me more determined to sit down with my quilt sandwiches and practice, practice, practice. Thank you so much. You are not just the "Quilting Nerd" in my book, you are the "Quilting Queen " of explaining and sharing your brilliant talent. I really appreciate your demos.

      Now I am blushing 🥰😃😁. Hey, quilting queen is also a cool name for a channel!
      I am happy to get such feedback. This is a basic video and I know that I would love to have someone to explain things to me all those years back. I was getting many questions about stich length and machine speed. it look like there was a need for this content. My theory is that if more of us would spend time doing nice and slow things, the world would be a bit better. Technical details belong to the art ❤❤❤

    Very informative for new quilters. My regulator is the wiring between my foot and my hands. It takes practice but now I have found it..I am hard wired for success.

      That was a very good description. I just operate by hearing. Once the machine hits the right frequency I am good to go. The last two years were very intense so I can handle also high speeds, but mid-speed is good for my soul ❤❤❤

    Yes, like all the others, i also learned from you, & need more practice. Just a few years at quilting thus far, & less in the fmq, but it IS FUN, & has so many possibilities! On a recent wall-hanging I completed, I used fmq to quilt some flowers & sunshine, but the words I attempted were very difficult & messy, but bc she was "mine", lol, I luv'd her anyway ☺️ a family treasure now. Thank you so much for caring ❤️

      This is beautiful, thank you! You know, my first quilt I really quilted was simply " pretty in a different way" but all my boys loved it. It was the favorite for sic years, even if better and nices quiltes were available. Quilts are for love. ❤❤❤

    My stitch regulator is back in its box - I tried it maybe 3 times (12 years ago) and did not like it at all! I do, however, love the motor speed control on my sit-down so I can work my fabric movement speed together with the motor speed.

    • @quiltingnerd
      @quiltingnerd  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I so get you! several years back I was sure I need a Bernina with thir stich regulator for perfect stiches. It was too expensive and at first I was a bit sad I had to "settle" for Janome. Till I had the chance to try it out. It is not my style. I love my Janome machines and my slightly irregular stiches. I think it is more about the perfect expirience than perfect stcihes. ❤❤❤

    How high do you sit at the sewing machine? I have adjusted my chair so many times to find a comfortable position. It seems like my left hand doesn't make an effort to help the right hand. I am using a brother sewing machine. I have quilted several quilts and i will not give up.

    • @quiltingnerd
      @quiltingnerd  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I put my chair all the way up and my pedal is also on a wooden block so it is relatively healthy. but I needed some time to get used to. The best is if you can lower your machine into the table, but it is not always possible. I don't know why your left hand is less cooperative. I hope it will get better with exercise and focsed effort. There are so many factors. And I am happy to hear you are determined to keep quilting. I am trying to cover most of the questions and problems from the comments to help as many as I can ❤❤❤

    Thank you great video. Could you please tell us what kind of machine you have and if you change the tension.

    • @quiltingnerd
      @quiltingnerd  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi there. I have a Janome M7 and sometimes I have to adjust the tension a bit depending on the batting and threads. But this machine has pretty good auto settings. With my small brother I do not have to touch anything. It just works. ❤❤❤
