    I would like to see them issue all of their four conductor pickups with the Gibson Quick Connect Option. It is like having a set of Golf Clubs. I have to make my own from after market four conductor quick connect systems off eBay. You can get a 490r easy with a Stock Factory Quick Connect attached but a 498t is a bit harder to come by. That is a Les Paul Custom set. I have a 57 Classic and 57 Classic Plus with Quick Connect but I would like another set for a different Les Paul. Its fun to change pickups and try new pickups. Someone please reach out to Gibson and remind them how many guitars they have out there with the Quick Connect System owned by guys like me who do not like to solder but who might like to try (buy) a different set of pickups. I might even want a second set of 57 Classic and 57 Classic Plus with those sweet chrome black covers. Changing covers also involves soldering and, again, it might be worth it to me to have (buy) a second set.

    • @frankwebster9110
      @frankwebster9110 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I posted this very sentiment at Gibson when they were doing their initial pickup shop promos on TH-cam. The feedback I got from them was that there wouldn't be enough people buying them or something. I disagree. I understand the Quick Connect was for Gibson's ease of installation but it sure does make for an easy pickup swap for those who buy those guitars. If they made their pickups with an option of Quick Connect, I feel like they would sell enough to pay for the retrofitting at the shop

    One possible problem with an Epiphone Greeny is; how do they offer something substantially different to the regular 1959 model, without making it a $1500 guitar? I think that'll be a hard sell with a laurel board and a veneer top, especially as it'll likely need a fret dress straight out of the box.

  • @StreetPreacherr
    @StreetPreacherr ปีที่แล้ว +1

    And you don't even necessarily need to SOLDER anything. You can always just cut the existing wire and splice the new pickup wires to the original wiring that's already soldered to the pots! You just might need to also splice longer wires onto the original pickups if you want to install them in another guitar...

    • @faustthehammer8706
      @faustthehammer8706 ปีที่แล้ว

    This was a smart idea for Gibson and at $299 for the pair is more than reasonable for the Greenybuckers.
    They are even unpotted being it 50s spec. If you are not into that you can get them wax potted, not a big deal.
    I think the USA version at $3199 would be okay if it were more of a Greeny spec, it isn't. Now that you
    can get the PUPS you can put them into anything that you want. The more options the better, win win I would say.
    For those who say the are expensive? not for what they are, Boutique PUP makers charge more than that.

    I have to think this massive drop of aftermarket pickups is a direct result of Gibson hiring Jared Brandon (the founder of Brandonwound pickups) a few years back.

      I don’t see that happening unless they clear out old inventory they find or bring them back under new branding

      I feel that there would be enough demand to warrant an attempt. I'm crossing my fingers. Thanks for the feedback!

    They’re offering a “double white” humbucker now that’s actually double cream, despite the DiMarzio trademark.

      It still boggles my mind that a company went and trademarked a pickup color and everybody still has to adhere to it.

      @@TylerJohnstonGuitar I know right. I could understand trademarked a custom winding, but the color???? Ridiculousness.

      The original DiMarzio trademark was double cream bobbins *with hex screw pole pieces*. They've pushed that to double cream bobbins and whatever pole pieces over time and nobody's fought it, because boutique pickup companies don't typically have deep enough pockets to afford a trademark lawsuit.

      Dopey, but distinctive. As its oh, and design… It’s not that bad. It’s just that everyone is jonesing in for that Gibson open-book look. One thing I might say about the Epiphone headstock or some versions of it is that sometimes it just seems to be a little bit too long

    The Kramer Pickups intrest me as there made by Gibson pick up shop so USA made and branded Kramer USA & as we all know Gibson sells the pickups they use in there guitars so i have a feeling where going to see some USA Kramers soon like we saw leaked eariler & most likly using these Kramer pickups.
