- Episode #65 of the UNO MAS levels showcase series!!!
For those that don't know what an UNO MAS level is, essentially it's a short level made to showcase something neat, unique, silly or glitchy in Mario Maker 2. Typically, once figured out, these levels will take under 30 seconds to beat...but those 30 seconds are usually filled with eye opening moments. Let's dive into these levels!

DGR that was amazing with that "Play after you die" setup. Especially when you started rapid firing the fireballs
The fireball glitch looks like the flamethrower in Contra 3. I’d love to see you blast some big bowsers with that.
Smashy has a video on the fireball glitch. In that video he also shows an easier setup for the SMB2 mushroom.

There is a way easier way to do the glitch in SMB1 instead of timing it. Pick up the item, activate the setup shown in the level where you saw the glitch, but have a pipe above that also gets activated. In the pipe you enter, add a fire flower, but add an SMB2 mushroom into the pipe above.
Also, try the fire flower thing with the boomerang flower… it’s great
the boomerang one is harder than the fire flower
I recently saw a video on this that shows how it setup in all modes. The infinite fireball trick also affects other power ups like the boomerang. Try again with the boomerang throw as you jump from the water and you get infinite boomerang

You should have tried the claw lick glitch with Mario on your head to see if he’d fall off

Great video as always Dave! For the "play after death" glitch I highly recommend Smashy's uno mas video where he shows it off as well as a few things you missed with it (for example if Mario takes damage while spamming fireballs and flying he will still throw fireballs). He also shows a SMB1 setup that I have seen a couple other people mention here that is MUCH more consistent and only involves powerups. This would both allow the "play after death" glitch to work, but it also means that you can now carry most items through the pipes in the SMB1 game style without throwing them as soon as you exit the pipe. I can't wait for you to explore these glitches more and I look forward to your next uno mas video!

Ok so my theory is that the glitch turns you into a Canadian Goose. They're always fly in a boot.
I wonder if the heavy mario glitch is from something like him having both a physics hitbox and an interaction hitbox (fair warning i have no idea what i'm talking about). It seems like mario can land on anything the game considers ground, just without interacting with it. For example, he doesn't bounce off the springs (1:39), his feet don't match the incline of the seesaw in new soup (12:07), and the boost pads don't work (2:00). And anything that's just an interactable object, like the bumper (9:33) or the claw (7:02), he can't interact with at all. When mario goes through a door, he never actually INTERACTS with the door & triggers a scene change, so he just gets stuck in the void.
It also seems like when he lands on ground, the game assumes he's still on it until he jumps? I think that's why if you wear heavy mario on your head and then transfer him onto a seesaw, he'll sort of track your position as you run underneath him (8:48). He's always trying to get to the vertical position of the ground he's standing on, which is why he snaps back onto your head once there's no longer a block in the way (9:04, 12:11). It's also why Dave got softlocked as P-balloon mario; mario was trying to reach Dave's hitbox, but it kept bouncing luigi down until he was stuck in the corner. It might be cool to see how he interacts with skull coasters (like what if there was a setup where you could dump mario from a coaster onto a semisolid, and then make that coaster land & move on a track underneath him? I think he might follow its horizontal movement).
I'm not really sure why mario flies up into the air at 12:16. But if you go frame by frame (< and > on desktop), I THINK I see what's happening. There's a frame where mario is transferred onto the conveyor because Dave is jumping underneath it-- but Dave just barely clips the corner. Instead of going under the conveyor, he gets pushed back and hits the side of it instead. The frame where he gets pushed back is also the frame mario shoots into the air.
Anyway, this seems really interesting and I hope more creators make levels on this!

The rapid fire ball glitch works with a boomerang and if you take damage Mario will switch to shooting fire balls again
The fire flover thingy also works with boomerang mario
You can still do the play after death glitch in smb1. You just have to use the same setup but use better timing

Do the play after death glitch in mario 3D world style and use the boomerang instead of fire flower and try to make the same thing when you spam fire balls. Hope you'll enjoy. (Also maybe try to take damage while doing the glitch with the boomerang)

The glitch working across different Mario games is expected. The engine is the same for all games, what changes are the textures and the movement “feel” parameters.
It seems a patch will be forthcoming to get rid of the millisecond multi-event that leads to this glitch - which is a shame, since this is a pretty funny bug.

Mario probably has his cooldown for fire flower tied to his animation, and this glitch is somehow tied to it.
If you could've used the super ball, then it would have probably broken too.

I made a consistent setup to play after the goal in SMB1 style and added lots of objects to interact with. Would be perfect for the next Uno Mas episode! I'll also work on a version with this setup for the 2-player glitch.
