Hi Jay. Just got my camcorder a few days ago. Always good to see another positive review. Been using Gopro black up until now. Looking forward to using a camera good at low light with steady cam. Will road test in Vietnam in a few weeks. Loved your review. Only criticism, Layla should have smiled more on stage. lol
I cannot play my 4k videos on my laptop(windows 7)..first it used to play now it doesnt..windows media player says "the player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file...i tried with vlc but only few got played and rest didn't..Can you help?
Hi, I'm really sorry but this sounds like the standard nightmare of a windows or Mac software update :( Not much you can do other than find a work around or wait for an update most likely. This type of thing is beyond frustrating so I hear your pain, believe me! Basically Windows is forcing you to upgrade to 10 it sounds like, which will cause other programs to not work and require purchase updates I would guess. Over the years I have noticed this cycle and it's very unfortunate. Mac used to be better in this regard, but now it's almost as bad as windows I'm finding....
Yup, I knew it!! Then your computer will run like crap probably and a hardware update will be needed. This stuff is really not right and so scam like at this point it seams to me. Sample Tech Support Call: "So my 4k video used to work and now doesn't? I need to upgrade to Windows 10? Ok, I Upgrade to 10 then the video works again, but plays laggy and still sucks... So now what? I'm forced to upgrade my hardware and all the other programs that won't work with windows 10? Yes, that is correct sir...." Sorry man, this absolute crap is so frustrating.
Hey Jay, I'm looking for a "back of the church" camera for my wedding video jobs. Do you think this would be a good candidate for that or would you recommend another cam? I shoot with a Sony A7s as my A cam so I love that XAVC-S codec. For me the main concern is no record time limit.
Hello, and yes I think this camcorder would be a great option for that type of situation in particular. Plenty of zoom and low light quality all in one package. The battery lasts a long time compared to the smaller battery that is your A7s as well for example. The quality is good enough in my opinion, although a larger sensor camcorder would be better, but way more money with lenses and all. Best of luck!
Thanks Obelix and I agree that would be nice although the optical and other movement canceling technology worked really well. I could not notice much difference in this regard compared to the FDR-AX33 which has BOSS I reviewed here: th-cam.com/video/MNCl0LNkx8o/w-d-xo.html
Nice Review - is use 2 of these cameras, beforce i used a RX 10M2 (2x cameras) and now this cameras. For Photos i use a A7S-M2 I'm happy with this cameras, special for long events.
The spinning platform in the beginning of your video. Did you do that yourself or did you buy it? If works really well. Great video by the way. I have the same camera. To me the only downside is that it won't record 4K when you have an external HDMI monitor attached.
Thanks for the comments! There is no record time limit and no overheating issues. I would imagine in crazy hot ambient temperatures it might overheat, but that would be extreme like 100 plus degrees.
This thing with B.O.S.S. would be perfection. I just bought the AX53 for the better stabilization. Can't wait for the upgrade to the AX100. I'm expecting it to have B.O.S.S. and maybe even 4K @ 60 fps
do camcoders have slow motion.... being a youtuber which one is best? camcoder or dslr
Is touch to focus available on this model ?

Jay SonyAlphaLab True..thank you much for the info!
Jay SonyAlphaLab So what do you recommend should i shoot with 4k with dual recording on or shoot only at XAVC HD?

Looks like great camcorder.
I wish they would release 1" 4K camcorder with BOSS image stabilization.

I noticed some warping in the image with even the slightest movement. Any reason?
Also, did you use a stabilizer at any time?
hey how is the on board mic? does it compare to the ax33 mic? i tried the RODE mic but wasn't all the impressed with sound
On board mic is excellent. you will get 5.1 channel sound rec while HD format recording
Great video Jay, Thank you!

Can't really tell how well 4K is if you only upload in 1080

What about record time? Does it have a time limit or does it have any overheating problems? Thanks for the great review!

Awesome! Thanks for the feedback!
I own this cam, and i got 2 Hr 30 Min Continues rec with original battery and there is no over heating issues.

AX100 does not have B.O.S.S. It has "steadyshot"
RX100V or AX100?
why didnt u go for a dslr instead?
Ba Bu Recording limits.

They need more practice.

Sorry, I was talking about the little dancing girls.
