Thank you. I hope this is what's allowing only about 70 pics on a full charge. They should put this in bold that having this on will greatly deplete the battery.
(Contined from above ) - However, the Fuji F600 EXR does have a Pro Focus Mode, which captures several images at different focus points and combines them in order to blur the background behind your subject.
When the Fuji F600 EXR is zoomed all the way to approximately 360mm, yes you get somewhat of a background blur but not as pronounced as you would get from a DSLR, here's why: When doing a portrait and you are trying to achieve a shallow depth of field by knocking the background out of focus, several factors determine the degree of "Shallow Depth of Field". Sensor size - (1) A larger sensor will give a shallower depth of field. (continued below)
Because of the small camera size the Fuji F600 EXR has a fairly small battery. Be sure the GPS system is turned off. That should increase your battery life substancially. Also, it has been my experience that not all batteries are created equal. If you try a new battery you may experience better performance. The F600 EXR is a pretty amazing piece of equipment.
Thank you sir, I figured something like that must be the culprit because the camera is awesome. I like this 660exr more than the canon s95 and Nikon s8100, for just PQ for a casual user like myself. But I didn't even know it has GPS, I've been tooling around with it reading the manual set up but don't see it anywhere how to turn it off.
thank you for this video mr. fonz :} i ordered my Fuji Finepix F660 on ebay for a very lovely price. should be here on monday, just before the christmas. i needed something small and good for capturing streetview, nature and home pictures. also i want to film some nice footage and i heard it has also nice hd movie capture. thank you for the vid again.. have a nice holiday snaps ;}
Hi photofonz, I got one too and I love the PQ the battery can only take about 70 pics before I have to charge it. It might be a defect so I could ask amazon to send me another one. Do you have similar issues with the battery or do I have a lemon? thanks
SO I just picked up one of these cameras I want to learn how to take better photos, Don't want a camera that I have have to fidget to much with to get a quality photo. I have had it for 2 days and I love it already. Have you done anymore Videos to help us beginner old guys along..... :)
Hey I really liked this camera's spechs overal and I was looking to buy one. do you recommend the f600exr rather than the f660exr? I noticed that the f660exr doesn't have the gps function, doesn't shoot in raw and has 0.1 gb less internal storage compared to the f600exr, while in the other hand the f660exr is a little smaller, has stereo speakers and shoots/records 3d. I really need your opinion as i'm looking to buy it soon and it's almost out of stock on amazon!
You can turn the GPS info off on the Fuji F600EXR by pressing the F button on the bottom right side, then press set up>. Turn OFF Location search and location info. I have all 4 turned off on my F600 EXR.
I went to the F set up menu but didn't see any option to turn off location search. is possible I don't have gps on my 660exr. Its a newer model than your right so not sure why I don't see it
Thanks I am trying to learn in stages so much to know about camera settings. I am a technical guy (since I am in the IT world of Voice on the Internet and traditional telephony) I am trying to better understand ISO so if you have a quick lesson in that I would appreciate it. I have been using the D range setting in EXR you spoke of but I have ISO set to auto 800 and was wondering what to expect if used 400, 1600 or 3200. Thanks
I own the Fuji F600 EXR and am very happy with it. I don't shoot raw with this camera and keep the GPS function turned off as it puts a faster drain on the battery. If you neeed to shoot in 3D the F660 EXR may be what you are looking for but the F600 EXR gets a bit of a higher rating in some reviews. Either one would be a great choice. I really like the small size of my F600 and it takes fantastic panoramas. I also utilize the HDR and have mine set to shoot an 8 MP file which is plenty large.
(Continued from above) - Since compact cameras have a smaller sensor than a larger DSLR, you will not get the same effect as if shooting a fast prime lens or a 70-200mm f2.8 zoom lens wide open. (2) Lens aperture (f stop) - By using a larger lens opening this narrows the depth of field and knocks the background out of focus. (3) Distance - The closer you are to your subject, as long as you are in the focus range of your lens, the shallower depth of field becomes. (continued below)

got this today due to this review .. jeff ..
At 360mm equiv, does it allow shallow DoF?
Check speed of memory card. You may want to use a class 10 or at least class 6 memory card for movies. Also check battery charge.
pictures look good a real nice, cam air rah .. jeff ..
To set the Fuji F600 EXR 's language - Press menu, scroll to Set Up, in Lang choose English
