What is the difference between a regular tiltwall panel and an insulated tiltwall panel? This video explains what an insulated tiltwall panel is and how it is created for use in a temperature controlled tilt-up construction building.
Concrete, which is used to create tilt-up construction panels, is a highly durable material and works very well for commercial buildings. However, concrete on its own does not provide an effective thermal barrier for maintaining interior temperatures. In storage facilities that need temperature control, like an air conditioned warehouse for example, the construction company must add some form of thermal insulation to the concrete walls.
A popular approach to insulating tiltwall panels for industrial buildings that are temperature controlled, and for a wide range of industrial buildings in northern climates, is to sandwich the insulation inside the concrete panel. This is the insulated tiltwall panel.

I recently started working in the offices of a Tilt-up Construction company and this video has really helped me understand what the guys in the field do. Thanks for posting.

great video and informative! thanks for sharing!
haha old mate 5th from the right at 4:26 holding the panel sturdy with his foot... what a champ!
Good video! can you preinstall exterior cladding (bricks tiles or stone) on the exterior during the panel making stage?

General Contractor Videos Hello there, Bricks are also good insulators, then why isn't concret? And are the insulated tilt Blocks better than bricks, which would be cheaper? Thanks!
Dis Master it cuts down on cost significantly, and significantly increases it's r value. I do tilt ups for a living.
Interesting, but it takes away one of concrete's big advantages - the thick and essentially indestructible slab is going to be a whole lot weaker with a split down the middle - while keeping its big disadvantage - the extremely unforgiving surface. For residential use, I'd really like to see if anyone is pouring a structural concrete tilt-panel sandwiched between outer layers of cement-based insulation such as foamcrete or perlcrete.
What base provided for erecting the wall panel on ground , is there any nut bolt system on flor base .
Typically just use embed plates and angles and small layer of grout to attach the bottom.
Good working where are you
How effective would this work for domestic dwellings
So you would run into issues with lack of slab space to cast the panels and time you can't do anything on the area (interior buildout) it'd be hard to do but not impossible. Just saw this video and with this concrete mix you probably could produce all the panels pretty efficiently th-cam.com/video/JJ0xJNw1NiM/w-d-xo.html
How many hours/days does it take to cure?
Mandela Gates it varies depending on the mud mixture.
Also, temperature greatly affects set and cure times. If poured during excessive heat, your set times can be as low as 2 hours (too fast). This will decrease the overall strength of the concrete. Some guys use ice, cool water, or liquid nitrogen to keep things cool and slow down the set times on hot days. Optimal temp for a pour is around 70˚F.
3-5 days
