one reason why i LOVE my kid's private christian school is that we had to sign an agreement that the school does not tolerate any sort of gender ideology BS, will advise any students dealing with same sex attraction to actual helpful therapy instead of just affirming them, and if we decide to participate in any of the gender ideology stuff we'll be removed from the school. they did not care my kids aren't vaccinated (many other christian schools required the covid vax) and the administrator of the preschool and all the teachers i've come in contact with are on FIRE for the Lord. they really seem to walk the wall not just talk the talk.

I’m so glad this conversation is happening! I assistant-managed and then managed an independent bookstore for several years. The family that ran the store had several other locations and when I first started, all the booksellers were raving about this new book called “George” by Alex Gino. It was a middle grade book about a transgender kid. This book went on to win several awards, so many people raved about it. Let me tell you, I never sold a single copy to a customer. Not because it wasn’t there (it was displayed constantly) but because no parent wanted to purchase it! (And our store was in a very liberal town in Chicagoland.) That was about 7 years ago and since then it’s just gotten worse and worse. The amount of propaganda for children that we got in from publishers, especially scholastic, was tiresome. Baby books about consent and feminism, thinly veiled storybooks about CRT… you name it, we had it. Rarely a normal, wholesome, simple story was found, everything had an ulterior motive. I tried to be a light in dark place but eventually I felt like a closeted Christian and if I wasn’t reading or selling a woke book, I wasn’t praised. I love books fiercely but just couldn’t get on board. So I left and eventually my location was closed down. It’s disgusting how something so beautiful like literature has been hijacked to promote lies. Thank God for a new company. I hope enough fed up Christians will start to contribute for alternatives that are done in excellence and Truth!
Please join me in sending emails to librarians about Sky Tree Book Fairs. Many librarians painstakingly take through scholastic books to remove the bad ones, and don’t know there is an alternative. I let my kids’ private Christian school know and they are ecstatic. I will also be notifying as many public school librarians around me as possible.
Common Christian testimony - grew up in a Christian Family, losing faith at school, college, coming back to God in my 30s… school can teach but… mates… Let’s just pray for our children and make our job as parents❤️ God Bless You Guys❤️
My husband and I decided that we should homeschool our kids because as Christians we are to train our children in the way they should go. God never mentions schools or have someone else train your children. It has not been easy because my husband is the only one that works which means we live on one income, one car, no vacations, etc.. but God has definitely blessed us in other ways. God is always with us! Parents need to read: Crimes of the Educators by Samuel Blumenfeld and Alex Newman. Allie, please interview Alex Newman I think people will learn a lot from him.
As a writer who has pursued publishing, I can tell you it's bigger than scholastic too. Many of your big 5 publishers are ACTIVELY seeking writers to write this kind of material for all ages. There are still some great publishers and literary agents out there, but the tide is definitely shifting towards this across many major publishers.
I'm in publishing too. Every monthly issue of Booklist and School Library Journal 100% reflects this. Full of activism books, books on gender, books on race/crt, etc. And those 2 are the gold standard for what librarians look at when determining collections. 😳😬
Yes, this! When I first tried to get published, this wasn't as big of a deal (2016). But it quickly became one. The wishlist for most agents and publishers in the YA (and younger) fiction world excludes Christian authors heavily. It's not that we aren't out here. It's that we're gatekeeped to death. In good news, there are publishers looking for Christian fiction, and from what I can tell, they're growing. We have to keep requesting these books in bookstores and libraries grassroots style.
I'm in publishing too, and it's coming a long way with publishing books that reflect the world we live in. Nothing wrong with books that talk about gender, race, and activism; they may not be for everyone and they're not the only books published. It always makes me laugh when people talk about libraries and bookstores being "filled" with books with LGBTQ+ characters when it's statistically not possible. The latest stats on books published for kids shared that about five percent had LGBTQ+ characters. So that's 95 percent without. Good news for the people freaking out and thinking libraries and bookfairs are filled with them. It's not true!
I’m four decades plus old! And my mum always read every single book I bought home from the library, that was prescribed by school and she’d even get them from the mail, read them and then seal them back into mail for stuff we ordered! It was exceptionally rare something slipped through the nets. But I appreciate she did this. And that was before any of the crazy stuff in schools today. I think it’s being a good mum!
@@michellemorrell1658 You know you contradicted yourself right? But that’s okay because I covered all bases anyway and pointed out that my mum checked EVERYTHING, which she did!
They are “rigged” in that those people know normies don’t show up to those elections because they trust that the school boards were just nice people who had the best in mind for their kids, as stated above, and so they know they can vote in whoever they want because they’re the only ones showing up to the school board elections. Just start showing up.
We’re in Brooklyn NY. We were thrilled to come across a Christian homeschool group that was created by former NYC DOE teacher. It was such a blessing to find. My son is 6 and there was absolutely NO WAY that I was going to put him into a New York City public school the intro of pronouns and lgbtq agenda is soooo ridiculous!
SO THANKFUL for Kirk Cameron and all the courageous and amazing work he’s been doing for the kingdom!! He continues to inspire me and shine hope!!! 🙏🏻⭐️❤️
Thank you so much for this wonderful encouragement. I love Kirk Cameron even more now! I'm praying for my kids, all 5 in public school because my husband (not a follower of Christ) made this decision regarding their education & won't listen to my arguments in favor of homeschooling. I've always wanted to homeschool, as I was homeschooled & so value that my mom pulled me from public school to teach me. I want to homeschool my 8-year-old twins. Their school does Scholastic Book Fairs; actually it's next week. Thankful you are exposing the harmful stuff they're printing & marketing! I would see their order forms, and I notice just how *woke* they have become. There aren't many Christian books that I could find (other than Berenstain Bears). And I'm glad another parent mentioned how they are just plain bad! (poor writing/art, too much toilet humor). Why should I give my money to this?
Does Kirk Cameron not strike you as the nicest person in the world?! I just want a pep talk and a hug from him 😆 Great interview! I wasn’t expecting it to be so encouraging.
This is such an important conversation! I am so grateful for this because I didn’t know how bad Scholastic Books truly is! I used to love their books as a child in public school, and I'm only 31. I cannot believe how bad thess books have gotten.
Two of my favorites in ONE episode. this is a FANTASTIC episode. a quote that stood out to me was from Kirk when he said: "siri has lots of knowledge but she has no wisdom".
This may be my very favorite episode you’ve ever done Allie Beth!! (And that’s not because I had a poster of Kirk Cameron hanging on my wall when I was in middle school! 😁). So much truth & wisdom shared. Thanks to both of you!!
Getting ready to watch video, BUT this is Soo crazy this popped up. I LITERALLY was at my child's book fair today and I complimented the books they had, and there wasnt a ton of razzle dazzle just books and the librarian told me they no longer use scholastic they use a different company.
Allie, you are very talented/gifted in many areas! Motherhood, discipleship, wisdom, and displaying the fruits of the spirit! And yes talking ❤ thank you Kurt Cameron for the encouragement and hope. Jesus is shining through you both! Praising Him for giving you the courage to stand and do His work
Father thank you for people like Allie and Kirk! What a great reminder 46:29 to know that we are apart of one body. We each have different roles in His plan. I really needed to be reminded of that today! My youngest is 19 and after giving years of staying home and raising my children (they still need us as adults btw) it’s easy to forget that we have other roles to fill in His plan. We are one body working together. I am praying that God will show me what my part is in this new part of life! Blessings
Thank you for sharing! I was hesitant when my kids brought home scholastic. I always loved them as a kid...but as I read the titles, something was "off". Yikes! I had no idea. Appreciate your insight as we continue to guide and protect our kids!!
Kirt’s encouraged expressions after hearing Allie Beth speak such great Biblical truth is exactly how I am after listening to your podcast! Great discussion! Thank you both for your time and investment into my children’s future (clean ground for them to till 😉)
Y'all 😭 I tell you what...God works is such mysterious ways!!!! I can't even explain it all!! It's book fair time here in East Texas. Tonight is family night my 4yp grandsons school. In preparation of the chance that I might be able to attend, I looked at the Scholastic flyer on the school website to see if there were any that I thought would be a good match for him. There were a few that my spirit cringed at the title, so I looked them up online and marked them as a big fat NO. Then, as I was listening to podcasts as I'm working, this one comes on next in line...no searching needed...just God. Vanguard and Black Rock!!! 2 of the biggest companies that are after our kids!!! Thank You, Lord, for guiding me to dodge this bullet🙌. You have instructed us to be good stewards of the finances You have provided. We will gladly support Brave Books and Sky Tree book fairs. Needless to say, I won't be attending Scholastic book fairs.
This was a great conversation. You guys had really great insight. I’m going to read Jeremiah 29 again and think on it. We lose hope but everything y’all said gives hope and encouragement. So many good points! Knowledge without wisdom… love that point. I have to remember that God put me on this earth in this season and this time for a reason. Oh my goodness I’m gonna share this podcast and also watch it again. Thank you both for ALL you’re doing! God bless you both ❤
Thank you so much for your youtube channel. Thank you Allie and Kirk for exposing Scholastic, I will give out the print out from SkyTree book fairs about the inappropriate books to a Christian teacher at the school and a few others that should read these. I will make more copies if necessary. Like most Christians I am concerned about what they teach in the schools, and these books teach also. God bless.
Yes! Thank you! I am doing the same thing! Pdf shared with my kids’ school and they are so grateful, as they have been painstakingly screening every book. Now they don’t have to. I’m going to share the info with as many librarians as I can.
Kirk & Allie - thank you for recognizing that some of us public school teachers are out there trying to fight the good fight! And that there are still SOME public schools that aren't indoctrinated.
Not every school has these types of books and I DO know this as a public school teacher here in Orlando Florida. Our state has had laws put in place to make sure this doesn’t happen. My district/state took it to the extent of having us list every book that every teacher has in our own personal library in the classrooms. My school is making sure teachers comply. Parents must have access to this list which has to be found on our school’s website. And then from there parents can list books they do not want their own kids to read with a “limited access consent form”. Or a full access consent from which gives students access to teacher’s and school library. I get that all this is very important. As a teacher who spent more than days working through this process so that I wouldn’t have to have my library not available to kids for another year due to this, I made sure to make my list, wait for my books to get approved, and then finally give my students access back to fun books. Our librarian and myself do not want to risk our teaching certificates because of books that are inappropriate or not suitable for kids at certain ages so we have taken this seriously. As a Christian I understand the importance of making sure certain types of books are not being shared with kids. I have heard of these inappropriate books in many places. But it’s not like this everywhere. Maybe it’s thanks to laws which drove us teachers crazy but now protect us if we followed through with getting books approved.
Shout out to the small town schools still holding on! When you live in a rural small town, all the teachers live in the community. You know where they go to church, how they raise their own kids, and their own kids are in those schools too. So thankful for God leading my family to this town!
Ok but what did Kirk say at the very beginning? Small towns are safe now but shortly they will not be, this is coming for you too. So be ready to fight.
Oh my goodness!! I haven’t watched yet but I have been trying to tell people about Scholastic for years!! I hope to check it out and listen this week. Started homeschooling 2 yrs ago and would like to thank KC for the encouragement.
This conversation makes me think of one of my favorite Switchfoot songs, Burn out Bright: "If we only got one try If we've only got one life If time was never on our side Then before I die, I want to burn out bright"
That's exactly what I needed to hear. It's so easy to get caught up in all the evil in the world, and these were just the uplifting things I needed to be reminded of. We serve a BIG God. Thanks to you both and to Jesus.
Thank You Jesus that we are financially able to homeschool. I understand fully how much of a blessing this is and how many families wish they could do this as well
Great interview! Thanks Kirk for all your work. Parents need to know about these issues and empty nesters like me need your help because our kids are grown and we don’t see what’s going on in schools anymore.
14:01 this is how we win... NOT by giving up public education and taking out all of our children. It's honest to say not all parents have the option of homeschooling or private schools. Only by fighting back, together, can we save the future for our children. ✝️
I love and appreciate Kirk Cameron, and now I do even more. Especially after quoting Lord of the Rings in this context. This is encouraging, thank you!
This is horrifying that this is going on. Are people without children but who are concerned about children allowed to ask if these books are in our school library?
My daughters as in 2nd grade with a 4th grade reading level, and goes to a private Christian school and we always read together. She brought home the Dork Diary Books which were in her reading level and I was shocked when I heard what she was reading. Long story short the principle had the library overhauled and those books and some others were removed. Just make sure you know what your kids are reading.
Yes! We've purchased several books that we've just had to throw away! We hate that we supported them by purchasing the titles but I had conviction about donating... didn't want it to reach other kids. So sad 😢
As a school teacher, I have seen Scholastic Books/Book Clubs change since the pandemic. Really, right now they are expensive and too progressive not the classics or dollar deals for the classroom anymore.
As a single mom I found a way to pull my son out of the LAUSD school system and homeschool him from 6th grade and now he is in 11th grade and has been on the honor roll since. There are public school online programs that are fully accredited! I recommend K12! God bless you both for standing up for morals and the rights of children to not be indoctrinated! "All it takes for evil to advance is for good people to do nothing!" TRUTH!!!!
I don’t have school-aged children yet, but am thinking about my options when they reach that age. So, if you don’t mind me asking, does K12 teach evolution?
@@KT28818 here’s the thing: whenever I hear a teaching that contradicts what my home does which is serve the Lord Jesus Christ, I am there to teach my son the ways in which he should go. We cannot fully avoid this world. We must live in it. We must also teach our children what is right and wrong. To answer your question, I don’t know but I do not fear the teaching, I counteract it with the truth! Homeschooling allows us as parents to be there for our children!
Allie, any way Kirk has a Website to point Christian Families to events in their local areas? My Son & Daughter-in-law and Littles live outside of Indianapolis. Thank You! ❤❤❤
Yes, read the print! This has been going on for years but parents trusted their child’s teacher… No more can we put our children in the hands of public schools, woke or just complacent teachers! It’s past time to take our tax money and choose the best education we want our children to have!!!
As someone who grew up on 90's sitcoms, I remember Phoebe Buffett on Friends going on a date with a man who wrote erotic literature for children. Phoebe was grossed out and horrified and left the restaurant. We all knew that was wrong and disgusting. Here we are 30 years later and it's in the libraries.
It's unloving when you don't speak up against this garbage. Parents and Christians need to wake up and stop with this love is love lie, and stop being a bunch of cowards by not standing up for righteousness and for our children. THANK YOU ALLIE BETH AND KIRK FOR DOING THIS STANDING UP FOR OUR CHILDREN!!!! STANDING UP FOR PARENTS AND SPEAKING THE TRUTH OF GODS WORD AGAINST THE evil IN THIS SOCIETY
So good. Thank you-as always, both of you speak with bold, firm Scriptural authority, yet with so much love. I homeschooled and used my degree to teach in our homeschool co-op for nine years. That was about 7 years ago and since then it’s just gotten worse and worse.
Thank you Both for speaking out and ALL your efforts to protect children.
Its sad but I have to do a google search on EVERY book my kids want to take out of the library or purchase at the book store
Even that's sometimes not good enough. Make sure you look through them personally as well.
We all should have paid attention to the school board elections instead of thinking they all had the best in mind for our kids.
You can pay attention in the future. 🤷🏻♀️
Most of those are rigged anyways, depending on where you live. That means you have to fight through other avenues.
Not just ridiculous… insidious.
I live in Brooklyn New york
I just want a pep talk and a hug from him 😆
Great interview! I wasn’t expecting it to be so encouraging.
"the Eyes of the Lord are on the righteous but the Face of the Lord is against all those who do evil"
Kurt... Your question at 43 minutes made me cry.
As a Christian conservative mom I struggle with that question often!!!
Wonderful encouragement. What a great revival that is coming.
This may be my very favorite episode you’ve ever done Allie Beth!! (And that’s not because I had a poster of Kirk Cameron hanging on my wall when I was in middle school! 😁). So much truth & wisdom shared. Thanks to both of you!!
Good for this administrator & other staff as the fight for these kids!!!🎉❤ 🎉
God bless you both! I have no grandchildren but am very concerned for young children in schools
Blessings
My kids LOVE our co-op! They learn everything from knitting to personal finance to gym to Spanish to famous battles and everything in-between. ❤
Y'all 😭
I tell you what...God works is such mysterious ways!!!!
Love the Gandolf quote! And love Kirk Cameron. Wise man!
He spoke at our church in Leesburg VA. Cornerstone Chapel. And he was amazing as well 🙌🏻🙌🏻we are blessed
This was such an EXCELLENT conversation!! I feel so encouraged and, honestly, … empowered. Thank you!!!
Florida is its own animal. It IS like that everywhere else.
So much Truth and Blessings for us all in that podcast. Thank you Allie and Kirk! 🙏❤️
Kirk’s words are incredibly encouraging, he knows what he’s talking about… and Allie, just ❤
Oh my goodness!! I haven’t watched yet but I have been trying to tell people about Scholastic for years!! I hope to check it out and listen this week. Started homeschooling 2 yrs ago and would like to thank KC for the encouragement.
This conversation makes me think of one of my favorite Switchfoot songs, Burn out Bright: "If we only got one try
If we've only got one life
If time was never on our side
Then before I die, I want to burn out bright"
That's exactly what I needed to hear. It's so easy to get caught up in all the evil in the world, and these were just the uplifting things I needed to be reminded of. We serve a BIG God. Thanks to you both and to Jesus.
Ty for the warning.
Thank You Jesus that we are financially able to homeschool. I understand fully how much of a blessing this is and how many families wish they could do this as well
Praise God for Sky Tree
Great interview! Thanks Kirk for all your work. Parents need to know about these issues and empty nesters like me need your help because our kids are grown and we don’t see what’s going on in schools anymore.
Thanknl you from Poland. Now we' re watching how it is going for our children in Poland. And we also need to do something to stop it.
So many profound statements/thoughts today. Thank you for making me think!
Now how special was that?! Informative, inspirational and encouraging. Wasn’t aware of Scholastic Books. Now I know.
A Nana-fan in North Texas ❤
14:01 this is how we win... NOT by giving up public education and taking out all of our children. It's honest to say not all parents have the option of homeschooling or private schools. Only by fighting back, together, can we save the future for our children. ✝️
Yes, I think about so many underprivileged children. What are they supposed to do? A kind, Christian teacher may be their only lifeline.
Please parents, check out the scholastic book fair at your child's school! Don't always go by the cover or title, read the content.
What a grace-filled and inspirational conversation. Thanks, Allie Beth and Kirk!
Thank you for all you do Allie and Kirk.
And yes good ranchers is great meat.
Love this! I have loved Kirk for so long.
Allie Beth- what is your favorite study bible?
What a treat 😊😊😊 Love you both, looking so forward to this❤
I love and appreciate Kirk Cameron, and now I do even more. Especially after quoting Lord of the Rings in this context. This is encouraging, thank you!
I'm stealing that Gandalf quote. God bless Kirk Cameron!!
This is so, so good. Thank you! Preach, y'all!!!!! Yes!
Why am I not surprised! So very sad!
Hope is much more powerful than despair
This is horrifying that this is going on. Are people without children but who are concerned about children allowed to ask if these books are in our school library?
Thank you for that great show
Every time I hear Kirk, I just smile.
Thank you both for this 🙏🏽 I’m definitely sharing this valuable info w/other parents and friends.
Wonderful episode!
for me its such irony that their name is "scholastic" :(
Yes! We've purchased several books that we've just had to throw away! We hate that we supported them by purchasing the titles but I had conviction about donating... didn't want it to reach other kids. So sad 😢
Goodness! Brought some tears to my eye around 26min! Didnt expect that!
We need a Brave book written by Allie Beth Stuckey next! Love everything he is trying to do for the kids of this generation and generations to come!
That was very inspiring... thank you both
So good 💛
Thank you for the encouragement and inspiration!
This is so inspiring!
amazing conversation
Thank you ❤
Best podcast you’ve done. So encouraging❤
@@KT28818probably, they are still controlled by the system. It’s public school online.
Kirk just quoted a Tolstoy-a Catholic! Way to go!!
If I had kids I would homeschool them for sure!100 percent
Excellent video!! Thanks!! ❤❤
This guy is nuts.
It was wonderful! I graduated my oldest last year, and my youngest is almost done. My husband and I don’t regret taking their education home one minute.
This is great Interview. Thank you for posting. I highly recommended a podcast on children’s literature where the host recently talked about this too. It’s called bright wings: Children’s books to make the heart soar. Her most recent episode addresses this issue November 13th.
