I have to say I’ve built a few of the new tool Airfix and they are actually really good building models. Recently I’ve done the new Mosquito and the Bristol Beaufighter. I have always kept away from night schemes because if the weathering, but maybe I should try one!
Masking tape removal is always the most satisfying bit

Hi, great build. I'm making the same kit but in the earlier three tone camo scheme.
Great build. Might I recommend getting a rivet wheel to add rivets to the wings - it's a cheap tool and has a very high satisfaction to result ratio with pin washing.
Yea I've been trying to find one, not a lot of specialist tools in NZ.
Very clever, useful and informative, to try things out on other black finished aircraft spare parts. Nice build although, I wouldve pre painted exhaust manifolds and undercarriage before installation.
I'll be honest, I just plain old forgot 🤣
Good job on a kit that i've heard is a bit of a camel, i built the old Airfix kit in the 60s and that was bloody awful, but i think it's worth getting the new tool and giving it a go, thanks for the video.

I built this model over Christmas. It is, without a doubt, the worst model I can recall making. It has far too many very small, very fragile parts. It was as frustrating as hell, it almost ended up in the bin more than once, but a nice model once finished. I tried to do the open cockpit version, but the parts did not fit as they should have and it was simply impossible to do.
I have just finished this kit, in the Starter Kit issue with different decals. The biggest problem with this kit is Airfix's very fragile styrene, making it easy to accidentally break very thin parts like the gun barrels, pitot tube, etc.
Of the six included tubs of Humbrol paint, only one (the dark earth) was usable, the others dried.
"Pre-shading".... I never understood the concept. If the color coat goes on properly, it totally hides the pre-shading, as we see here. Just wasted time and paint, in my opinion.
Yea, I agree on pre-shading. Thought I would give it a try to try and break up the plain black. Worth a try, didn't work but didn't hurt the finish in the end. I agree with the plastic, I had a lot of difficulty making sure I didn't break anything. Those paints it's best to mix water and a little detergent as a wetting agent, that helps with flow and coverage.
Totally agree on pre shading. Never seen the point
