    Thanks for the link Adam! I really didn't think about adding steps showing the E-brake assembly coming together since I thought there was info out there but now I should have! Going to take photos of it next time I have some time and update the story with proper steps. Let me know if there's anything else I missed that you think I need to include.

    Adam... the breaks did not look right to me. Let Alberto take a look at the footage... The spring on the adjuster is not the way it suppose to. It will not readjust it self like it is. Somehow I think you do not have the right parts in the right place. Just make sure it is right I don't want that Nicole crashes because of that.

      It's A parking brake, and every shoe has a different way to self adjust the star wheel, via spring or key

    • @Flashflash1989
      @Flashflash1989 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Its just for a hand brake and doesnt readjust itself. There is gonna be a rear caliper on the rotor for braking. The rotor should a hole for where you can poke a flat head through to adjust the star wheel
      Usual way of doing it is to adjust star till you cant spin the rotor then back off the star wheel about 3-5 clicks

    Once your done pull up the ebrake and count the clicks. Should be no more than 7-10 clicks. Also spin the assembly with the rotor on and make sure they spin the same amount of times or pretty close at least. That way the same amount of pressure is applied to both wheels

    Those ebrake cables are gonna end up on your drive shaft with those thin brackets. Believe me, I know. I went with a street faction z32 ebrake conversion bracket. Comes with hardware and (pre-drilled) screw holes for plug n play. Also when you go to use the ebrake that little bolt on either the top or bottom (been a while) moves and I believe adjust the brake shoes. Keeps adjusting as the brake shoes wear. I believe..

    Drum brakes are one of the most straight forward things to do. I rattled through them in college but you need the correct tools to help you do it properly and a knowledge of the systems parts . If you don't have the know how then this is hard for you. Some people just don't have the skill in them to do these tasks. Imagine if they were proper drum breaks with a wheel cylinder and the parts to go with, would never be able to do it.

  • @HowlerBikeVlogs

    i remember the first time i had to replace drum brake shoes, it's a pain and a half to learn and see what you're doing but after a while you git gud at it. it's just one of those things like installing valves in a cilinder head, practice makes good enough ;-)

    The e brake Setup is probably the same on Nicole’s car as it is on the z32, if it’s using a z32 backing plate. You could probably find how to’s on z32 parking brake setups to compare to confirm if it is or not. But it should either be the same as the z32 or the same as the normal s13 parking brake I’d imagine.

    HAHAHA drum brakes (including parking brake drums) are the BIGGEST PITA on a car/truck. Drum brakes on all four corners are even worse, because you better hope they are all adjusted correctly.

      The hardest set I ever worked on were on my 2000 Montero. Those were BRUTAL. Easiest ones were on my 71 Dodge pickup. They were the same all around. My current toy car (1988 Mitsubishi Cordia turbo) has rear drums but they are not bad at all. The front disks are another story since the rotors are bolted to the inside of the hub. Not fun.

    I have an s15 & you can do a skyline r33 brake conversion & its pretty straightforward, the s14 has the same suspension asthe s15 & 13 have similar suspension, maybe you should try that instead. But at the end of the day the stock brakes are ok, really not worth it, a lot of people do it cause it looks better, the stock discs are pretty small.

    ADAM I JUST TOOK BRAKES AND YOU DID A COUPLE THINGS WRONG. The little dangling thing on one of the shoes is actually the pawl for the starwheel adjuster (Siamese twins thing). This makes sure that when the shoes wear down, they can still contact the drum! As you have it right now I’m not sure if the adjuster will work and it might roll away if you set it one day! Like so he can see!

    Do you leave the car in gear, when it is strapped down, in the trailer for transportation?

    • @eirikhustad
      @eirikhustad 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not a good idea since it could damage your gears if it moves a bit on bumps and accelerations. just strap it securely and leave it in neutral. If you HAVE to use something use the parking brake instead.

    That spring is not supposed to be resting on the adjustment screw. How’s it suppose to move and self adjustment with the spring holding it place.??

    YES that is exactly what I pictured in my head when you said blurple in the other video. If you guys do decide on that color for sure (I hope you do) I would like to know what the color code or what you mix to make that color I really want it for my next project. Thanks!

    To ajust them properly, when you spin the rotor you should be able to hear the shoes skuffing on the inside of the rotor
