  • Covering more than 22,500 sq km (8687 sq mi), Kafue National Park is the largest in Zambia and one of the biggest in the world. With terrain ranging from the lush riverine forest of the Kafue River to the vast grassland of the Busanga Plains, the park rewards wildlife enthusiasts with glimpses of various carnivores and their nimble prey, including a good chance of sighting lions and leopards, and if you're lucky cheetahs in the north of the park, plus elephants, zebras and numerous species of antelope. There are some 500 species of birds too.
Kafue is one of the few parks in Zambia that’s easily accessible by public transport, with a handful of camps just off the highway.

I am a foster parent (year 202O) of Olimba calf elephant and I am very glad that Olimba habitat is in this Kafue national park. I hope so I can come soon to this beautiful National park in Zambia to meet Olimba and all the staff. Greeting from The Netherlands Europe.

Striking - Yes. Beautiful - Nope.
We went to Busanga Swamp area a few years ago - not sure which was worse the flies (tsetse / horse), mosquitoes, or midges, Or The smoke from burning grassland.
Rangers and Guides had to spend their entire free time putting out fires or trying to get them back under control, so the Camps/Lodges would not be torched.
    Some National Park !
