- In this video I'll show you how to self drive South Luangwa national park in Zambia. We'll start at Chipata, then drive the 114km to the village of Mfuwe from which you access the park. I camp a few nights at Wildlife camp, then do a self drive of South Luangwa national park. Later in the day I take an organised game drive, enjoy a sundowner on the Luangwa river and get to see some leopard.

Hey bro, love your videos, thank you for promoting Zambia's tourist attractions. If you can please speak to the minster of tourism and have a discussion, see how you can turn this into a win win for yourself and the zambian tourism board
Yes please tell the Minister to send some kwachas for fuel🙂 happy to help where I can
Lucky to call South Luangwa my home. It’s just the most magnificent place on earth! ❤
Its really is an amazing place
I'm glad you're enjoying your adventures in my country.
South Luangwa National Park is without a doubt our best!
Its fantastic🤩will recommend to everyone!
ONE OF THE LAST BEAUTIFUL WILDERNESSES LEFT ON THE PLANET = Protect this Eden Zambians
My ancestors are from Luangwa.. This video is everything to me.. Love it
South luangwa my homeland, peaceful place
One of my favorites
Fantastic
Beautiful.
Your videos make us feel like we are in the passengers seat with you.... keep it up
Another great and highly informative video. I have a three week self drive camping safari in Namibia for October but you've already got me thinking about Zambia for 2023. 😀
Zambia is just a bit "rougher", but a great place and South Luangwa must be on your list
@@NickfrNamibia Your comments and advice are always truly appreciated.
Much respect for you and the work you’re doing. I can only imagine the amount of work you put in editing these videos.
thanks, not everybody realises that. All they see is a guy traveling around and enjoying life😁
Zambia a beautiful African vacation place.. Luangwa superb national park
You are so lucky. The road was not tarred when I was a kid. When I took my wife there, I was amazed how fast the journey went.
I could only imagine. No its less than 2 hours, as long as you dont stop as much as I do🙂
I'm really enjoying your content!! Thank you very much!!
Its a huge pleasure Paula🙂
great, just the sort of information I was looking for. Thanks for that and I will follow to see how your 54 countries journey develops...
Thanks🙂
Always wonderful to see more views of this wonderful reserve...both its wildlife and landscape.
I dont believe that private vehicles are able to night drive and encounter the noctural wildlife.
Ive visited 3 times and found the walking days wonderful and so memorable....and that includes encounters with wild dog..and buffalo.
Would seriously recommend any visitor to support Consrvation South Luangwa...poaching as everwhere remains a threat.
Hope one day to return for a fourth time...kick over some elephant dung and who knows see Lycoan Pictus again....or head up to North Luangwa

I like your car, and hope you enjoyed your time in south luangwa.
it is one of the best parks I've ever visited👍
The road from Chipata seems to have improved since I was there in 2004, when it was pretty rough and took 3hrs to drive. It was so expensive to enter the park, but because entry fee at that stage was for 24hrs, we would go in one afternoon, then again the next morning (one fee) and spend the other half-days enjoying the amazing views from camp. We had elephants come through, and hippo and even saw leopard from camp on the other side of the river.
Great video
Another fantastic video! Enjoy Mate! Big hugs from New Zealand. Deon and Chef Mizé travels..
Thanks guys, Ive got Mize on Instagram as well
@@NickfrNamibia Mizé is originally from Namibia. We have Family in Walvis Bay...
In the nineties the Chipata Mfuwe road was a challenge to say the least and the great east road was driven next to, not on the road!!🤪🤣👍
so its getting better....🙂
Great video Nick, content keeps improving, thanks so much
Thanks John, appreciate the comment🙂
Nice one Nic. Some awesome footage
Thanks Bruce🙂
Mfuwe my motherland, call us again
Awesome Nick. Bought back some lekker memories!
PS - tell us more about this girlfriend!!!
Always a pleasure Simon. What an amazing park.
Im not allowed to😊some things need to remain private
Zambia is beautiful man, would love to explore that area one good day. Enjoy my bro, keep safe and keep sharing. You are my inspiration
Thanks Dru, great place and add South Luangwa to your to do list if you are coming this way
Appreciate all your time and effort going into these videos. We were at South Luangwa 10 years ago ( February) and they were just building the road. Perfect tar turned into sand and more sand. Seems the perfect tar is not so good any more!!! Campsite was nice lush grass and the river almost above the banks.
So many holes in that tar road at the moment...wont last too long, hope they have a warranty🙂regardless, one of the best places I visited in Southern Africa, the campsites, park, surrounding areas, everything spectacular😁
We have done the tour from Lusaka to South Luangwa a few times at all different seasons around the year. The park is so amazing and self drives much recommended if you have some expertise in the park. Thank you for the nice video 😊
definitely one of my favorites👍
Great info about the park! Please let me know who is singing the song with the lyrics
'something ain't right.
Thanks! This was very enlightening. We were planning to enter through the north, but since the roads should be bad... I think we're gonna skip the park. Unfortunately...
Due to rain?
@@NickfrNamibia a lot of rain and bad maintenance all mixed. We were very sad about it, but everybody told us it was bad ideia even with a big off-roader.
Great information about the park! Please tell me who is singing the song with lyrics 'something ain't right.

Any tips for camping along the river???? We will be camping in Divindu next year.
In Namibia? campsites are so cheap there... do you use the iOverlander app?
Hi Nick net vinnig het jy verskillende pryse in petrol of diesel gehad in Zambie? Maw moet n ou maar by groter sentras groot maak waar brandstof goedkoper is of is dit vasgestel deur die land?
Dit word gereguleer deur die land, maar raak duurder hoe verder jy van Lusaka af gaan
Hello! I'm Alessandro and I'm writing to you from Italy. I am planning a trip to Zambia with my family. We are 5. I would like to go around the parks on a self drive. don't need a guide in the parks? can you recommend a trusted rental car please? how long does it take from Lusaka to Mfuwe… .and from Lusaka to Victoria Falls? Thank you very much
I am not to familiar with Zambian rental agencies, but there is a very good company, bushlore.com/ that provides rentals throughout southern Africa. It is best to do Lusaka to Mfuwe over two days. There is a basic camp at the Luangwa bridge, maybe sleep over there, and carry on to Mfuwe the next day. Lusaka to Vic Falls is an easy trip to do in one day, about 6-8hours depending on how fast you drive.
Outjo
huh? this is Zambia...
1000% 4x4 required during rainy season, lots of black cotton soil and it costs an arm an leg to get towed out
Thought so🤣
𝔭𝔯𝔬𝔪𝔬𝔰𝔪 😉
That is not expensive.
what is not expensive?
How can you give ONLY 30 seconds to CHIPATA ??? CAPITAL of the North 😂😂😂😂
Capital of the north😂 actually a nice town for a traveller, get everything you need there and easy from there to Malawi and South Luangwa
