    Nice to see the farms being worked on! It's cool to finally be getting more and more into the countryside.

    I really wish that the farm assets (especially fields etc) could be terrain conforming as standard. It wouldn't solve the boxy/grid issue, but at least it would look better on hilly terrain (especially for livestock).

    • @pdelmo79
      @pdelmo79 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      They are hard to make due to the limitations of the game. I tried and they just don't work that well

    • @deetoher
      @deetoher 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @pdelmo79 yeah this one shouldn't be on the modders to try to solve (thank you for trying).

    • @rmfurm7935

      you can fix the terrain issue by using move it to raise the farm heaps. raising the building lifts up the thing that controls the terrain, but not the farm asset itself. i have used it before and it works great

    • @avgeek707
      @avgeek707 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      isn't there a mod that turns off terrain conformation?

  • @ViktorVaughan

    I love how organic everything is. Structured but without the structured "grid" feeling. It feels like a place that simply grew overtime and fitted around its environment.

    That highway interchange should not have 3 lanes on the off ramps since it makes no sense for the middle late to literally just go back onto the highway.

  • @HomeTownAdventurers
    @HomeTownAdventurers 2 ปีที่แล้ว +41

    Ouch! No lane mathematics at that interchange. Don't let Biffa see this. 😉

  • @ffoska

    The concrete patches between the two sides of the highway are for road maintenance, when a section of the road is getting paved/ repainted/ repaired, the section between two concrete patches is closed, and the traffic is diverted to take one lane from the other side of the highway, the concrete patches are used for diverting the traffic from one side to the other. So the place with the roadwork has one side closed, and the other side with one lane for each direction of traffic. I see it all the time because the roads here are the cheapest quality and have to be completely broken up and repaved every 5 years or so...
    Might be cool to put in some road work in progress into this build, with the workers taking their 6th. well deserved smoko of the day

  • @vanessamak1065
    @vanessamak1065 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    You could put some Highway Patrol Police on the highway, hiding behind a tree or something.
    You could also put andoned car beside the highway, or some mobile stall that sell flowers or fruits.
    Roadworks is very common in Australia, that could be interesting.

  • @thelexico5972

    With the heavy vehicles it might be worth trying some warehouse. The Bruce trucks will hopefully go to them to pick up goods but you’ll still see the tractors moving around to get farm resources to the warehouse.

  • @cougar_mountain

    You can drag the cow marker away from the road with moveit and they will still work. Love the work.

    I’ve noticed around the highways of Australia they have these emergency telephone bays which cars can stop and call for help if there is no reception using the blue landline phone. It would be a great addition to your highway

  • @stefslon

    Creating more dynamic farms that change over time and with seasons would be EPIC. Great job bro, favorite episode so far

  • @Doddibot
    @Doddibot 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    For the truck issue, it might be worth experimenting with Klyte's mod called Vehicle Master Control. It's supposed to let you choose which vehicle can spawn in individual districts. Might not stop large trucks from delivering to the farming areas, but could stop the farms from spawning large trucks and make them use smaller farm trucks instead.

  • @MatthiasRozema

    Great work. 5 to 2 lanes on the intersection around 10:00 seems a bit weird tho... not sure what you're planning for the future there, but that Intersection seems way oversized considering the road that it leads to. Im dutch so I dont know much about Australian infrastructure, but I would do a bit more of lane mathematics ;). Anyway, great build!

    • @alexanderhellert2477
      @alexanderhellert2477 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      There certainly doesn't need to be a centre lane. People shouldn't be using the exit to go straight thru. Turning only.

    Looks so good! Only thing I would add is proper paddocks on the farms and greenhouses, also more gravel roads rather than dirt roads. Oh and stockyards for every farm because these are essential. Cheers.

  • @TheBeetrootman
    @TheBeetrootman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    You can move the fences for the animal paddocks using move it by holding down alt. You might also be able to add more nodes using network multitool in the fences so you can customise the shape more (not sure about this second part- haven't tried it myself). There are also moving animal sprites on the workshop you can download too I think.

    Farm industries are notorious for generating unrealistic traffic. The game does class them as industries and generates vehicle appropriately. I once had a farm area which was literally generating twice as many heavy trucks as my cargo station and similar sized area of associated warehouses/industry. I had to hack it to pieces and practically start again. All my original landscaping and aesthetics down the pan...I still weep. BTW your work very inspirational and beautiful .

    I hope that in Cities Skylines 2 they address a lot of these issues that modders have found the solution for. One thing I really hope they add is the ability for buildings to follow the terrain they're placed on so you don't have a house sitting on a void gap because the backyard is slightly sloped. The need for relatively flat surfaces for most buildings is really frustrating. I also hope they allow for more realistic urban spaces and better parking lots.
