People talk about "The "Walking Dead" attributing to bringing back the Python. But it was featured in a ton of movies, tv shows and video games way before that.
yeah... it is a gun used even today in many many movies... the 1911 and Colt SAA also end up in zillions of movies. The walking dead tho? well it went on for a lot of seasons and the gun was featured almost like a character in the movie much like the model 29 44 mag was in the dirty Harry 'series' of movies. while mostly other guns are just... in the movie.
@@TerryBenton LOL.... yes... the way to look at it is say the Makarov. I own a few and love the gun so I notice it in movies. It is also a pretty period correct gun for anything cold war.... but... even tho it is in the movies (lots of em) and is correct and looks cool (bigger PPK).... I doubt that more than a handful of people even notice it. Sidenote. I bought 4 of em years ago for $125 each. they were.... 99%? unfired it looked like. came with the tools and the manual etc. also bought 4k rounds for $90 each thousand. This gun will easily shoot 3" groups at 25 yards from sandbags... it has a chrome bore. it is pretty much 'bulletproof' and tested for decades.
Those are some mighty fine revolvers. I'm all out with S&W with a "K" frame #10 and a "L" frame #586. Just need to find a good revolver gunsmith trigger job and suitable hammer spring. Once I do that I'm golden.
Good video! You are absolutely correct that buying the more expensive revolver will not make you a better shooter. That only comes with practice. That being said, I own a Manurhin Mr 73 Sport with a 5.25 inch barrel. It is similar in price to the Korth and has a very smooth action plus being very accurate. To me it is worth the price, but I agree that the new Colt Python is a bargain for what you get.
The new Pythons I've handled have not had a very good SA trigger, but I would agree that the DA trigger is excellent. As someone who owns both original Pythons and a Korth Mongoose, IMO the new Colts are nowhere near as good. However. . . . with a SA trigger job, the new model Python would be something I'd buy.
I am.sure they are going to be way nicer than the orginal ones. I had a viper a long time ago. All it was was a Cobra with an alloy frame and a long barrel. It was a commercial flop.amd thatbis why they did not make them very long. Collectors go nuts over a sub par gun. I bet the new ones will be awesome
It’s funny peeps say the same thing about the Anaconda and the truth is the new Anaconda is so much better than the old ones. They’re basically giant Pythons now, have both and love em.
The anac9nda is light years above the old ones. You should check out my video where I compare and old and new Anaconda. The old ones are terrible. They were an exploded king cobra. Now they are exploded pythons!!!

That said I wanna pick up a MR73 or Korth or maybe Spohr. I just don’t want to pay the California tax to get one IF I could get one. I have an Atlas Athena and getting that involved some bullshittery; showed up as a single shot break action 22LR and then you send that bit back and get the proper barrel and slide which belong to the gun…they’re all serialized together.

you are of course correct that either gun will shoot better than almost any of us can shoot but.... a patridge front sight increases your accuracy. simple as that. it does not increase inherent accuracy it increases how accurately you can shoot the gun.

Believe it or not, I briefer the colt python because Firstly I prefer the guns which I will be using often Secondly the pythons are very well crafted, and I don’t care for the extra craftsmanship which Korth providing , it will not add more to the joy and usability Thirdly with the price of a Korth I can buy three pythons of deferent barrel sizes for multiple porpoises Note: am not an American just not to think am biased
I cannot disagree with your comment. The Colt is a very well put together revolver. It is hard to justify that much extra cost for the Korth when you handle or shoot both. Thabks for watching
I'm going to go against the grain here in saying I would prefer a CNC produced gun. CNC machines can mill to micro accuracies and can do it repeatedly. I don't think any human can match the precision of today's modern CNC machining systems. I will have the cash to buy that Python around Feb. this coming year. My buddy asks me why I need it after just buying a SW 629 44 Magnum. He is not a gun guy, so he doesn't understand. Really like your vids, the way you compare two guns up close.
I once owned a Pyrhon with a 4 digit serial # starting with 8... Sad that I sold it... but I was broke. A friend whose dad was a cop carried it, and he traded it to me for replacing the cylinder head on his truck. But it was pitted from storage in a salt air environment..
Have you by chance noticed that the Korth has a bit more felt recoil than the Python? I have a Mongoose with a 3" barrel and a Performance Center 686+ with a 2.5" barrel. The Smith seems to have less felt recoil and i cant figure out why. The frame sizes seem identical and the Korth is an ounce or two heavier.
I want a conceal carry revolver, and I've owned the best of most the big brands. 686, Python, GP100 Match Champion, etc. It's illogical, but I can't wait to see how the new Colt Vipers turn out. If they fix them up so that the action is as smooth as the other snake guns, and they have the durability, I'll get a 3 inch for conceal carry. Can't wait to start seeing reviews on them. I'm not a huge fan of the Cobra guns, and I really want a second Colt. Hoping for the Viper's success.
Absolutely gorgeous firearms. Question: do the black screws on the stainless Korth bother you? Do you understand why the cylinder release is painted red? I’ve wondered what the advantage to this is.
@@TerryBenton I presumed that the black screws are black because they are dlc coated but I never understood the red cylinder release. Perhaps it has something to do with European competitive shooting… Nevertheless the revolver is truly a work of art and true craftsmanship. New subscriber, and I am really appreciating your content.

A couple of the parts are mim. Very few if them and none that really matter. For example the cylinder release is mim in the new one l. Ask yourself this, does that matter. It looks identical to the old one and is it really a high stress part? Thanks for watching
I'd like your optinion on a Manurhin MR-73 thrown into this mix. The silver DLC finish on your Korth kicks the price up even more. The new Python is IMO superior to the old one and if you wanted a new one built like the the old ones you'd have the same price as a Korth.
I completely agree. I have nevernowned or handled a Manurhin. I do k kw they are suppose to be top notch revolvers and I belive the folks that say it. I just have not personally handled o e so I would be lying to you of I gave you my take on it and I will never do that. Maybe one day I can get my hands on one and try it out. I own a MR73 and it is a stunningly good revolver. I have a couple thousand magnums and about 800 38spl through mine now. The accuracy and action are excellent. I replaced the grips with Nill checkered wood finger groove grips. Most people love the feel of the stock grips, but I far prefer the ones from Nill.
@TerryBenton Well, I have never handled the Korth so we both have things to look forward to! I have honestly considered adding a Korth to the collection, but I don't know if I can add a fourth 357 to the mix.
our tastes in handguns are pretty similar except that I am a fan of the 6" barrel instead of 4" Honestly tho I think 5" is really the sweet spot. Not many revolvers are offered in 5" these days.. I actually had a 5" barrel and shroud made for my Dan Wesson 44 mag. My favorite barrel for Colt SAA is the 4 7/8" followed by the 5.5" One thing tho is that I like cut rifling. I shoot cast and coated slugs almost exclusively. I think maybe the coating would work with poly barrels but have not done any testing .. mostly cause I don't own a gun with poly LOL. In the old days before coatings I would cast and lube my bullets meticulously for sizing etc. they would still lead the barrel at 'high' velocities. To help clean em? I would actually shoot 2-6 rounds of jacketed bulletws after a session! with the coatings that is a thing of the past. there is no leading at all and the guns come clean almost with a dry mop. Notice also the Korth has a patridge front sight. in accuracy tests that sight is like cheating. I cheat with all my revolvers that I can nowdays.. .even my Python has one. for my eyes it is the difference between 1 3/4" groups and 1 1/4 or less groups. That little gold bead doesn't hurt either but a little yellow nail polish works as good or better on a stockish patridge.

But.... have you tried the HT coating on cast bullets? you can buy bullets already coated which I more and more do these days. It took me two years to convince a famous magazine editor to start trying coated bullets. now almost all their loading articles for hanguns include some data using coated bullets which..... in every case... outperform the lubed bullets but they still will not flat out admit coated is superior... I get it. I have lots of lube/size equipment and books and experience that is no longer useful. hard to just toss it all out and admit you are doing it wrong or... that there is a better way.

My 4 in bright stainless python was made late eighties. Sent it back for a recoil comp and a little more trigger work. Life is good.

The Colt is the real thing..the Founder of it..where korth is just a refiner of Revolvers..to improve them for marksmen..sportshooters....🤔

I had read somewhere that most of if not all the internal parts were billet I could be wrong just something I read in a forum from a supposed colt rep
