    Just picked up my G42 today and told the guy at the counter what gun it was and he goes “you mean a 43?” And was willing to bet me money that I bought a 43 💀 his disbelief just shows how much people sleep on 380

      I practiced with 9mm for about 4 years consistently I shot a lot, it was like I would plateau and I was not getting faster or more accurate, after I got the 42 and started practicing my draw I was not just a little faster and more accurate I was exponentially better and now it's like shooting a 22lr I can point shoot playing cards from the draw at 15ft no problem and my draw speed is like. 86 sec .don't let your ego get in the way of progress!

    Good review of both and I carry both. The G43 is exactly a slimed down G26/4, but with a Gen5 addition. The G42, my first in 2014, and again in a Gen5 flavor except the barrel. Both are in my favorite carry rotation and very happy with each and their performance out to 25yds. Don’t regret my purchases.

    My every day carry is a Glock 42 with Trijicon HD XR Night Sights and a 9 round ETS magazine fitted with an XGRIP for a full three-finger grip. I load the magazine with 8 rounds maximum, plus one in the chamber, to ensure 100% reliability. Ammo of choice is Underwood Extreme Penetrator 380+P. This combination has very little recoil, is very controllable and EXTREMELY accurate! I carry it 24/7 in a pocket holster and honestly it's so light and compact that I forget it's there. Keep the content coming! I agree with most of what you said with the exception of, “get off me gun.” I was required by two agencies to complete sidearm qualification (for all “allowed per roster” sidearms) out to 50 meters. Both the 42 and 43 were able to do their part in that qualification! Nearly two decades working for or attached to various units, agencies or departments I have learned; with what you train, is with what you will survive! Never let the idea of this is only a “backup” or “run to the corner market” piece cloud your vision. If you are carrying a rock in your pocket, as a means of survival then you should know that the rock in your pocket is a combat worthy, to hell and back, stake your life-members of your unit lives and your principals lives on it rock! Any time you carry a _____ for protection never be uncertain that it will see you through! Again, keep the content rolling!

    I have purchased a 42 shortly after my post below. I had a "rough" 300 rds or so to break it in. Never had that issue with my other 9mm Glocks. The recoil spring felt too stiff and was causing issues. I left the slide locked back for a week or so. Locking the slide together with 300 rounds "cured" the problem. IMO the 42 likes hotter ammo. For range ammo Freedom Munitions 100 gr seems to work well and is as cheap as I've found. The 42 is operating well and is amazingly accurate 🙂 I use Underwood Xtreme Defender 68gr for edc.

    My extreme defenders shot significantly high on me. Landed on the Federal Hydrashok Deep 380. The Deep makes all the difference. The only JHP to meet the FBI 12+ inch mark. I love my 43x and trying to decide between the 42 and 43 for my next setup. The only thing that makes me nervous with the 42 was all the trouble they had at first. Glad to hear your good with the 42. I trust your opinion.

      @gk5891 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not convinced fluted rounds are not gaming the system. They make a large cavity in gel, but that would be the temporary stretch cavity in living tissue which is much more elastic and results in almost no damage at pistol velocities. I'm waiting to see actual shooting results or at least a goat trial so I know what real tissue disruption would be like. Note I'm not saying they don't work just that I need some evidence from real living tissue because I don't have experience with rounds of a similar design to judge them by.
      I have run XTP because it either expanded minimally and went 12" or tumbled and went 14"+. That was my priority over reliable expansion. Critical Defense was pretty reliable, but sometimes came up short. .380 HS Deep is on my short list for it's replacement as soon as I get 200 rounds through my .380 with zero malfunctions.

    • @ChrisfromGeorgia

      I'd say go with the 42, especially since you already have the 43x. I bought mine new and had a few minor hiccups within the first 200 rounds. I didn't clean the pistol before firing, so that could have played a part. Ever since then, I haven't had any problems whatsoever. I've looked mine up and it was built in December 2018. As far as I know, the 42 did have some issues upon it's initial release. I have a friend who got one when they first came had an issue (can't remember) and Glock took care of it. As far as I know, he still has it and hasn't mentioned any issues since the repair. That being said, I can't remember the early model's that were affected if you are purchasing one used. I do know forma fact, that you want the factory magazine's to have 03 on them. Take care and I hope this helps.

    • @gk5891
      @gk5891 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @bigdummy77 I did the math once and the recoil of 124+P out of a fully loaded G43 is 240% of the recoil of a 85 JHP out of G42. The latest American Rifleman has a article on a very accomplished shooter working with his daughter (who is well beyond a novice in my opinion) and the difference in her split times with the G42 and G43 was eye opening.
      As a matter of fact some of the rounds I fire out of my G43 have almost the same recoil as my G30S when both are fully loaded.

    I was wondering why some choose .32 ACP, .38 ACP vs 9mm.
    Looks like it effects the "stack", the thinness of the gun, & therefore the grip.
    So making multiple Glocks is casting a wider net in the market.
    The business, engineering & ergonomic design of guns is fascinating.

    I consider the G43 to be more versatile than the 43X. Lock in a standard baseplate mag and it will conceal well in pocket, on the ankle,or IWB without unnecessary printing. Back it up with a couple of standard. 6-round mags or a couple of extended capacity specimens. The 43 probably fits small hands better than them43x and up. All I can say on the mags, however, is to test any aftermarket mag and mag parts. Maybe Wolff will start making G43 mag springs that will work with not just factory but also with some of the aftermarket plus-whatever number bases. The Johnny Glocks OEM flat trigger is worth looking at and still keeps the trigger pull stock. Just so much friendlier to the trigger finger.

    42 is my summer carry or my walking the dog gun in the evening. If I’m going somewhere the risk is higher of really being in danger I carry my canik mc9. I know some people have had issues with there’s mine has been 100 percent and now you got 12 plus one and if you put the 42 over it it’s smaller but not dramatically smaller it’s the thinness and weight that’s the big difference. But for just running around town walking the dog I feel like 7 rounds of 380 is enough personally.and the mags are so small it’s not a big deal to throw a spare in your pocket something that is harder with the canik it’s a proper double stack mag and it’s 12 rounds of 9mm it drags the pants down for sure.

    I have an lcp max already so i shouldnt even want one of these, but i do. Im sort of a pathological glock hater, i own an m&p 2.0c, which i do think is leaps and bounds better than a g19, and my lcp max, i want another pocket/ankle size gun, and i guess i gotta go to where the market support is.

    generally the 380 is kinda marginal, i had the bodyguard but it went back for repair after a few hundred rounds and accuracy was poor. due to reloading supplies, i bought another 380. got the 42 on the blue label deal so barely more than 3 hundred bucks. accuracy is consistent, easy 3/4" at 7 yards. smallest was just 1/4" yup, you read that right. shot placement is the key and with the 42, you can make the shots count.

  • @arorath9170

    I didn't know glock made a pistol in .380. I can see the appeal though. Still, i think the 9mm market has come such a long way in fitting more into smaller profiles that i personally don't see the point. That 43 would definately be my choice between the two.

    • @BuddaBanks
      @BuddaBanks ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I bought a 42 recently, I wanted a pocket pistol but the 43 would print too much im skinny as hell lol. Light weight and recoil + glock reliability is a win in my book

    • @arorath9170
      @arorath9170 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BuddaBanks i feel that. 5.5 and skinny enough. My first ccw was a m and p shield 2.0 in 9mm. I would say is pretty comparable to that 43. At first it would print on almost anything i wore. YMMV, but i found a smaller pistol was not the answer. It took a couple months and some trial and error with holsters but i determined the leading cause of printing was my belt, holster, and clothes. Spent the extra money for a stiffer belt designed for CC, a holster with a wing, and some different fitting clothes and boom. Comfortably invisible.
      Side note, i have since moved UP in size and have spent the better half of the last summer working with a glock 19 with optic. Yeah, it still prints on about half my wardrobe so i only wear it on occassion if it's just a t-shirt kind of day. But with fall right around the corner it's going to be my go to. Still love my shield but the larger glock just feels better in my hand when shooting. Can't go wrong with glock.

The best self-defense pistol is the one you never leave home without!

      Only to willy nilly wave it around. Even when you've been in a situation where you pull your gun, and don't use it, you're supposed to call the police anyway. If you don't you run the risk the criminal calls first and the cops come after you for this exact issue. Common sense is out the door these days.
