  • Nico Rosberg retired from Formula 1 at the end of the 2016 season after winning his first championship. Nico beat Lewis Hamilton after years of intense rivalry and controversy, but his entire Formula 1 career was hugely impressive. His junior years caught the attention of many teams and Nico was quickly known as a fast youngster with huge potential. Nico Rosberg's early retirement left a lot of questions unanswered, but his achievements say a lot about how good he was. Enjoy!

I agree that this is a hell of an achievement, but they were certain circumstances fot it to happen. From 2010 to 2012 he faced a way past his prime MSC (he was 41-43 years of age during that time) and then in his 4 years against Hamilton, he was able to beat him just once while Lewis' car had way more mechanical failures.I still think it was well deserved because Lewis seemed to lack concentration at some parts of the season, but again Nico's career is a difficult one to judge

Had Nico Hülkenberg joined Merc instead of Lewis in 2013 Nico Rosberg would be almost certainly a 7-time world champion and considered one of the goats. He was like an A-/A driver, blazingly fast, almost a generational talent. The golden boy, son of a world champion BUT Lewis is like an A+ driver, just above Nico in skill but not by much.
Edit. I know what some of ya'll are thinking and no, Seb wouldn't have won either in 2017 or 2018. Ferrari has been cursed ever since 2008 when they decided to "sabotage" Kimi and favour Felipe to get Alonso in a year early

I think we all agree that Nico's key to lace wad likely his intelligence, and used it to great effect. As much as that's how he naturally is, I wonder how he may have raced had he let "feel" and instinct take over when racing. Sometimes I feel he played the % too much, rather than taking a risk and making it pay off. I still think he had more to give after he beat Hamilton, gutted he didn't stick around for another season or two.

    9:29 Didn't see that coming, tho. 🤣🤣🤣
Last race of 2016, I don't think Seb really pressurised Nico. I watched that race despite not being an F1 fan back then, I was only curious since the news were all over this massive silver arrows battle in the last round. I saw no serious move from Seb. I mean, let's be frank here, Seb is a German, Nico is a German, why would Seb want to deny another title for the country when he really had nothing to lose back then?
So in a way, Lewis' strategy in slowing the pace to make Nico got caught up in the pack didn't really work since it was Seb who sat in 3rd. If it were Max or Daniel, maybe it would be a different story. Even if it were Kimi, I don't think Kimi would take that 2nd place, since Nico can also be a Finnish in Kimi's eye. 🤝🏼
