My all time favourite toy line. Nostalgia weighed heavily in my ranking… 10. Davey Boy Smith - would have been higher in my list if not for his small stature 9. Big John Studd - great depiction of the big man 8. Hulk Hogan series 1 - never had him as a kid…had to borrow from friends 7. Dynamite Kid - great likeness and smaller figure didn’t hurt him as he wasn’t an overly big guy 6. Ricky Steamboat 5. King Kong Bundy - the most heavily used heel of my childhood 4. Roddy Piper - not the best likeness, but I was a fan and the sneer on his face works for me 3. Bret Hart - my all time favourite wrestler 2. Jim Neidhardt - best facial likeness in the line in my opinion. 1. Macho Man - iconic. When I think about the LJN line, I picture this figure.
Cool video, I still have my LJN figures. Will always remember Christmas of 1985, I received all 9 original figures, plus the ring. First 5 made were Iron Sheik, Hulk Hogan, Jimmy Snuka, Big John Studd and Andre the Giant. Next 4 were JYD, Roddy Piper, Hillbilly Jim and Nikolai Volkoff. Awesome memories, played countless hours with friends with the figures.
Really enjoying your channel and had to add my Top 10 LJN 10. Jake The Snake Roberts 9. Nikolai Volkoff 8. Andre The Giant (2nd version, short hair, blue trunks, updated face sculpt) 7. Terry Funk 6. Bobby The Brain Heenan 5. Greg The Hammer Valentine 4. Koko B Ware 3. The Junkyard Dog 2. The Magnificent Muraco 1. Randy Macho Man Savage
Valentine was one of THE BEST for playability ! I always hated HTM for not being in his wrestling gear too . Didnt care for LJN Outback Jack , but that is a great and funny , yet sad story you painted there ! I woulda been bummed too LOL ! Brett was a good one ! I bought the two pack with Anvil and the two pack of the British Bulldogs the same day ! But boy oh boy did I have to throw a fit to get both ! I was crying and begging because I had never seen them in stores before and I was so afraid I would never have that chance again . And I DIDNT ever see them in stores again either . Thanks Mom !!!! Next up Macho man was a great too. Im going in order here if yall cant tell , so I never could get Warlord . One of the very few I never owned along with Bam Bam , Rude and Ax . But Hell yeah I sure did have The Funkmaster ! He was one of my faves too even then . And I only grew to love the guy more and more ! (Ha! my Funk comment started before you ended up saying the same thing ! ) Next the red and white Hulk blew the original pale skinny one away !! But The Warrior figure . I was so stoked to get it . I knew it was coming in the mail so I already had yarn tassels in the same colors ready to tie on him !!! Sorry for this very in depth comment but it brought back so many great memories . Im sure no one will read this whole thing anyways but I enjoyed sharing my emotions about how much I enjoyed those LJNs as a kid when times were simpler heh ! Thanks Kyle ! If anyone reads my whole diatribe here , throw me a like . Im just curious to see . I bet I wont get one LOL !!!!!!! But thats ok . It was cathartic .
I was born in 1990 so I mostly grew up with Hasbro. But my cousins definitely gave me their LJN collection, it wasn't a large collection but these are the guys that I remember playing with the most 1. Randy Savage 2. Roddy Piper 3. Junkyard Dog 4. Jimmy Snuka 5. Jesse Ventura 6. Hillbilly Jim 7. Brutus Beefcake 8. George Steele 9. Corporal Kirshner 10. King Kong Bundy Bundy is the most destructive figure in the history of wrestling figures!! You should make that top 10 list Kyle. I brought that bundy figure out of retirement all the way up to my final playing days with the ruthless aggressions. Anytime a figure had the dreaded rattle and was about to break, The Bundy destroyer would come in and finish them. Longest storyline in the history of my playfed
Great list. I loved the LJNs as a kid and I regret selling them. I remember my parents having a garage sale when I was in high school and I sold all my figures for peanuts. One that wouldn't crack my top ten but was special was SD Jones. My brother picked him out for me one Christmas. I wont do a top 10 but my favorites I had were Macho, Jake, Hart Foundation, Killer Bees and Bulldogs.
Iron sheik was always my fav since a kid. Funny story is I hung out with the real iron sheik at his hotel once after a signing and I gave him my ljn figure of him. He was so tickled he was playing with it on his bed. Haha Memories..
Great list. I didn't have any black cards unfortunately. I had no idea there was a Warlord LJN. Wow. 10. Randy Savage - great looking figure although I didn't love the playability. I liked the figures that were crouched a little more. 9. Magnificent Muraco - the t-shirt was lame but I was a pretty big fan. Liked the heels even when I was young. I even put white medical tape on the thumb for the spike. 8. Greg Valentine - yep, fun to play with and I kind of used him like Flair too. 7. Paul Orndorff - Not great to play with but looked so good. I was a big Mr Wonderful fan 6. Terry Funk - Not my favorite version of the Funker but it was still Terry Funk. I could never find the Cowboy Bob Orton figure so Funk was Piper's buddy in my fig fed. 5. Big John Studd - fun to play with and no mistaking who it was. 4. Bobby Heenan - my one manager and it really is a great looking version of the Brain. 3. JYD - fun to play with and I loved the collar and chain. I still have the figure but sadly the collar and chain are gone. JYD was a force in my fig fed. 2. Roddy Piper - I was just a huge Piper fan. The soft goods kilt was awesome and of course the iconic t-shirt. 1. King Kong Bundy - So wide and heavy and when I got him he dominated my fig fed for a while. Just a monster of a fig. So much fun to play with and unmistakably Bundy.
Another great video Kyle! When I seen that Jesse the body Ventura I was transported back in time. I would bet CPL. Kirshner doesn't make too many people's list as well, but I had h as well as Outback jack.
My top ten favorite LJN figures are. 10. Iron sheik I only had 4 figures until I bought a friends collection when I was 15 9. macho man he was one the greatest. 8. Special delivery Jones such a rare character for me to have 7. George the animal Steele I loved the molded on chest hair. 6. Bruno sammartino I don't remember where I got him but he was 1 of my 4 and he was the only one none of my friends had. 5. Junk yard dog you could easily do the thump with him. 4. King Kong Bundy this was a solid figure 3. Andre the giant with the afro. 2. Hulk Hogan he was my second. Let's face he was a must have. 1. Big John studd he was my first and only one for a while.
Here are some ones I really loved other than the ones mentioned . First Im gonna go with an oddball . Its supposedly fairly rare too . Ted Arcedi . What a monster !!! I had only seen him wrestle a few times but man , that figure was cool ! Then we got Steamboat , Jake , Snuka and Studd . They were all fun and toyetic . Bruno was another one I liked a lot . But ok . Now hows about we do an AWA Remco list !!!
Have no nostalgia for this line. Remcos were the line I preferred growing up. That said I can weigh in on my 10 faves: 10. Bundy 9. Hart Foundation 8. Mean Gene 7. Bam Bam 6. Series 1 Hogan 5. Series 1 Andre 4. Warrior 3. Piper 2. Bulldogs 1. Macho
Love this line and have all of them including slaughter and variants. I always loved Steamboat, Ax and Piper. WORSt of all was Rick Rude. Found a few black cards at a thrift shop and have doubles of Bossman. Andre and Rude.
Never had that Hogan.. but yeah I had to buy Warrior and Warlord in retrospect.. all the black cards for that matter.. Warrior, Bossman, Warlord were very expensive.. I did have Ax and Rick Rude but sadly sold them.. just never had Sarge or Haku
I sadly left all my ljn's at my parent's house when I moved out. Then my parents moved and my sister moved into the house. My nephew used to play with them and would leave them out. Their dog chewed up every figure except big boss man. I guess her dog knew better than to mess with the Boss lol. I still have that figure today!
I only had one LJN as a kid, Snuka. Growing up with Star Wars, Motu, & Joes ,the LJN's zero articulation was let down. I've grown to appreciate the appeal and nostalgia people have for them but they don't do anything for me. I may have to get a Snuka again though.
Great review, 1st- Andre(Long hair), Favorite as a Kid- One Man Gang, side note Greg Valentine identified as Tommy Rich or Ric Flair for storyline purposes....Happy Collecting!!!
Definitely one I've been waiting for I never had all of these but they are a holy grail of mine in good condition. 1. Hulk Hogan yellow version 2. Randy Savage 3. Warrior prolly the highest I'll have a Warrior 4. Bret Hart 5. Harley Race 6. Jim Neidhart 7. Terry Funk 7. Bobby Heenan greatest announcer and manager of all-time 8. Big Boss Man 9. Warlord 10. Miss Elizabeth gotta have a face manager to balance out the heel. Just winged this on one's I want the most. Macho at 5??? What are we doing???!!!
They are under the LJN license but they aren't true LJN figures and were made decades later. Someone bought the rights to use the LJN logo and made them. It wasn't the real LJN company.
Those figures look good, but the paint is even worse than the real LJNs. I know people who bought the XoX ones and the paint was cracked and peeling before the even received them. Better to buy the unpainted ones and use better paint yourself.
I always loved the John Studd figure. The stars painted on his pants were really cool and nostalgic.
I remember when I was in the hospital having my tonsils out as a kid and my mum had bought me the Ax figure as a present.

Outback Jack was a fun figure to play with as a kid. I used him as a heel jobber. Once I teamed him with Kamala and called them The Headhunters.
Did they win the tag team titles or are you xenophobic?

Honky Tonk was my 2nd favorite WWF wrestler. He was such an entertainer!
I never had his toy, but I love that it's in his costume.

Wait, wat. Why is Warlord in Speedos? He had long pants in the Powers of Pain days. He didn't get trunks until around 1990/91 in his singles run.
Oh man brings back so many memories. I remember having Jake, ventura, macho man, piper, bulldog.
Another great video Kyle!
When I seen that Jesse the body Ventura I was transported back in time. I would bet CPL. Kirshner doesn't make too many people's list as well, but I had h as well as Outback jack.

Nice list but my # 1 would be Rowdy Roddy Piper......
Ax
Disappointed LJN Cody and Young bucks didn't make the list
The cm punk would 😉

Outback Jack the peg warmer was your 1st score 😂. Awesome story
You can order LJNs from xox customs there amazing
Yes, fantastic site and seller. I bought a few from them.
