Man I miss playing with my old WWF action figures and rings. I was so intune with it, I had a notebook where I was writing down my card with about 7 matches, and storylines.
My dude, all my match cards were shamelessly The Rock vs. Triple H from 98 all the way to 2004 in my toy league, i never kept an accurate list of all my cards though, just some papers kept in my toy room that read The Rock vs HHH over and over lol
Protip for people that make custom rings for play use! Before you hide the knot on the ring post use a clear coat nail polish to prevent fraying. Makes the ring ropes last way longer. Helps especially if you are make a custom ring for kids that might be a bit reckless
My Dad made me a ring when I was a kid, wasn't the most action figure friendly ring in the world but I've never forgotten how cool it was when I got to play with it. When he was done he asked, "what should it say in the middle?" I was like, "WWF VS WCW"!!!!
Liking the custom video. I'd liked to see more. Tip regards the bleeding around the ring. Best to use a low tack tape not painters tape and you must remove the tape pretty fast after applying the coat of paint. Yes this can be very to do tricky but leaving the tape on whilst allowing it to dry you run the risk of the paint bleeding into & through the tape. Which is the reason you find that the edges are not as clean crisp as they should be & result will leave you doing a lot of clean up. I would also recommend when painting items with spray paint to do an undercoat of primer & then paint it & also apply a clear matt or gloss coat depending on finish you want. This will seal & protect the paint from future wear and tear. And if you do diced to do more custom videos. Invest in a couple surgical scissor clamps. That way you can safely hold items with it at a distance and get all angles when spray painting it. This will help you so much on smaller items. Great video! 😀👍
I have quite a bit of experience with spray painting plastic as make custom Jason masks. I would suggest doing a light sand of the parts with a high grit sandpaper just to help adhesion. Also doing a primer coat wouldn’t hurt things either. Once you have it sprayed I would suggest a poly just to protect the paint was chipping and flaking off in spots. You can even use a Flat finish one if you don’t want to overgloss the thing. Still a great custom. Wondering where you got the Anarchy Rulz sticker set from? I got an ECW logo off Steel Cage Customs on eBay but the background is black and so it doesn’t look as good.
I agree!! People always forget the most important part, the sanding!!! Then they wonder why the paint rubs right off with ease. Yes primer certainly helps too. I usually use 400 grit sandpaper or higher for sanding figures or accessories.
As somebody else who has big hands, an exacto knife is your best friend. Get one of the corners of the decal on the tip of the blade and then you can maneuver it pretty easily without your hands getting in the way. Also, Walmart sells ring ropes (parachute cord) in their craft section.
I had an idea with the ropes for long term, well spray painting the ones that come with it was one but for the tied ones, a tiny bit of crazy glue on the knot itself, so the knot can't back itself out over time.
Great tutorial. The black/blue ECW ring turned out great. I have a few still in the box myself and just not sure what I want to make. Also I continue to be tempted to buy more rings but my wife appears skeptical :-)
This is awesome. The ring came out badass 🤙🏼. I got the legends classic ring steel cage which is all blue. I want to switch it to an Attitude Era version of the original Monster Ring for bca figures. Thanks for the recommendation of spray paint. Subscribed 😎
Nick Galianos I saw that . I'm leaning towards ordering one. Seems that I can't find a used one locally. I would have liked to attempt a custom on something cheaper. But ah well. Is what it is.
I heard of some using a scotch brite pad to take off some of the plastic protective coating before spray paint. Looks like you don't even need to. And resistance to the paint?
I'm sure they would. I display some of my Ljn rubber wrestlers in a Mattel basic ring. It's the old school looking ring with the red white and blue ropes and steel cage accessory.
I watched this whole thing high AF. I had that ring when I was a kid. I’d wake my mom up by having Bret Hart slam the shit outta Gi joes. Sometimes I’d paint Mexican wrestlers new mask designs with my sisters finger nail stuff and added glittery shit to outfits. Or I’d tie a piece of cloth to their heads and make it a custom mask, when I’d start ripping I’d take a ketchup packet and apply it to the head. One time I made undertaker with the black and grey version break a light bulb over another head and it was loud AF. It was AWESOME 😅
Can you take off the ring posts/tables/stairs after they're installed? Not sure I want to paint them yet, but would like to know if I'll have the option later if I put them on as is
I agree!! Allways sand first!!!! People forget the most important step. The paint can look great sure, but if it doesn't stick it's useless and a waste of time and money.
I had one of the blue retro rings. I remember I got it in the early 90s on clearance at a Pay and save. Played with it for years until a puppy destroyed it.
Since you're now doing how-to's, how about how-to's on fig bath's? I know you've said you can't fig bath Hasbro's the same as LJNs, so it be cool to see a how-to with each figure brand.
I clean all of mine with some windex on an old t-shirt because the t-shirt material is very soft and non abrasive. Soap and water will make Ljn rubber figures feel sticky sometimes so I don't clean those with water or soap, ever!! The windex does not make them sticky. You just can't use a lot of it or wipe too hard or you could take some paint off, but windex works great, and takes off the old paint scuff marks with ease!! Hasbros can be wiped down with warm water and soap and then dried off, but I wouldn't soak them in water ever because that's how you get mold inside the figures.
I love that they are just normal dudes who enjoy the hobby.
I'm sure the big WWE paychecks help too.
@@subzero8679 their midcard so not quite so big.
They aren't broke but I mean they are not making roman reigns money either.
Yeah, solid men
@@subzero8679 Just because you see them on TV doesn't mean they're rich.

I did the same thing, I even wrote down what number a wrestler was in the royal rumble lol.
@@tocoul4u duh how else would you remember
I miss the Old Wrestler u cant buy Hogan or Barber Brutis beefcake man they are hard to find now days

Mod Podge hard coat works better and is non toxic and safe for kids.
Always loved those ECW rings. Brings back memories. Well done sir!

WWF/E Vs WCW that is The Invasion storyline or the end of the Monday Night Wars
Awesome memory... reminds me of something my dad would have done
:)
And the cool dad award goes to!
I hope your dad left for cigarettes and never came back after such a dumb idea.

blue.warrior I should have read this comment first because I just repeated everything you said.
Man that looks slick. Great job and Congrats on the Tag Titles.
Definitely the most underrated channel ever
My favorite video you put up so far! Your ring came out amazing! Can’t wait to customize mine! Keep up the awesome content!
Perfectionist that I am, I would paint the mat the ECW blue but it looks pretty damn good.
I like how the dog left during the tap layout. Good stuff Brian
Great job love see people trying their first Custom collectibles
This guy's the Martha Stewart of customizing rings.

Big pop for Piper. Hope she becomes a staple.

Frog tape would have helped with the bleeding paint. But otherwise awesome custom.
Knowing how to paint the right way helps too.
Starting the early stages of my S.T.O.M.P. In Paradise Ring. Definitely going to be coming back to this video a bunch.
you could 3d print a piece to cover where the stairs go
I had an idea with the ropes for long term, well spray painting the ones that come with it was one but for the tied ones, a tiny bit of crazy glue on the knot itself, so the knot can't back itself out over time.
Loved this video. I've been contemplating ordering a second ring to try customizing it and this pretty much sold me. Thanks!
Very intricate and a wonderful creative aged piece .🤼♂️

You and me both. I'm finishing up my MBA, so I'm sitting on 5 rings right now.
Ha. I bought 5 too. Customized 3 already. Don’t know what to do with the other 2
I’m thinking of a camo paint job. Just need to get ambitious 👍
You should do another one of these, it’s one of my favorite videos.
Loved the tutorial. Hope to see more, along with custom figure videos as well! Great job.

Awesome job! I think I'm going to do something like this for my 5 year old daughter.
Cool video. I'd like to see what these rings sell for Canadian. Would have been cool to see the stairs painted in a silver metal paint.
In Canada, Amazon Prime are offering it for thirty bucks. Not bad. 👍

Great job Brian!
I’m a big fan of the dog and I don’t think I’m in the minority.
Great Job , The Ring Looks Awesome ECW ECW ECW!!!
best thing to apply stickers is to use a pair of tweezers. i use them when applying stickers to gundams. helps alot. mainly for small stickers too.
I fucking love you guys content, y’all reengaged my love for figure collecting
Wow awesome Custom Ring
Love the dog just chilling like "What the hell is he up to now?"
Brian, Really AMAZING JOB!! And love the shirt PLEASE let us know where we can get one .Thanks really LOVE these shows
That Mike Awesome shirt is beautiful I know that must’ve cost you an arm and a leg.
That looks great Curt Hawkins aka Brian Meyers
try using tweezers for small sticker application. nice custom bro!
Sweet build dude
I kept those small pieces in the turnbuckle and painted. Was able to reuse and completely hide the knots on my ropes
Looks awesome
Great job. I wonder if the stairs could slot in backwards (under the ring) to fill the gaps?
so they send you a generic ring and whatever decals for whatever promotion you want? thats cool, I like how the dog was trying to be a part of it lol
Love this channel
I love it. Do more custom work. There’s something about it that’s more unique. Awesome job.
Amazing job, I geeked out tbh lol
Seriously. The Hawkins videos are so much better. He’s calm and real. I like that he doesn’t care if he’s flexing his biceps just right.
That is sick as a skateboard trick.
Did a great job
Great video! Thanks for sharing! :)
dang, i wish we could be friends, im lit painting some old LJN figs as i watch
wonder if the OSTM ecw figures look good in a mattel basic ring?
I'm sure they would. I display some of my Ljn rubber wrestlers in a Mattel basic ring. It's the old school looking ring with the red white and blue ropes and steel cage accessory.
I loved the custom work. I think we have another Bob Ross on are hands.
I did this same thing with Mattel's modern basic ring I bought custom ECW stickers off ebay
Happy bday Bro!!!!
That was Awesome

Dudes a nice guy.
turned out great
sand before you paint so it sticks better
I agree!! Allways sand first!!!! People forget the most important step. The paint can look great sure, but if it doesn't stick it's useless and a waste of time and money.
dude now you have to show us your finished display!
I wonder if you could attach the stairs backwards, under the ring, to fill the gaps on the sides? Or would they not be flush?
I love the custom ring bro. Im workin on a real scale elimination chamber for the old build n brawl figures
Nice I’ll try to do the same Curt!
I wish I could do all this stuff back when I was younger.
I had one of the blue retro rings. I remember I got it in the early 90s on clearance at a Pay and save.
Played with it for years until a puppy destroyed it.
