Jeremy, the statue that you filmed in the Taksim Square represents the founding fathers of the Turkish Republic; the generals who conducted the independence war and later turned into statesmen. One curious note: hidden among the figures are two Soviet officials who coordinated the delivery of military supplies to the Turkish resistance army during the 1919-22 independence war. The Soviets helped Türkiye to defeat the British, French, and their proxy Greece, out of a geopolitical and strategic understanding. After the establishment of the Republic of Turkey in 1923, however, relations between the two countries soured as Atatürk didn't allow communists to operate in the country, as he was averse to that ideology.
@@JeremyandAlly You're welcome. One question: Is Jeremy really a grumpy guy or is that his "persona" for these vlogs? Seems like you are the optimistic, cheerful and positive one, and Jeremy is the counterfoil with his frequent complaints 😅
@@Kenan-Z lol. We always try to be our authentic selves. Our moods change as we experience life and travel. We do our best not to sugarcoat our experiences to try and make them seem one way or another.
Nice Vlog and Hotel is also very nice but I prefer the original "Pera Palas" Hotel where Agatha Christi have stay and write her Book " Murder in the Orient Express"
Çok güzel paylaşım için teşekkürler
Horrible hotel, many people got robbed there and had a horrible experience… its a big scam and should be avoided at all costs!
