I actually think one thing that makes pep so good is that he would be humble enough to take an idea from a video like this.
The addition of Calafiori and Timber to the squad doesn't solve the issue that we had at the other end of the pitch with Bayern. There was loads of space behind the defence to exploit if we had someone with pace to attack it.
just got a new sub, really like the fact that you can go in depth without having to use so much tactical jargon and the odd jokes don't feel forced or cringe, keep up the good work mate!
Having many options and tactics for buildup is a huge advantage. Introducing variance early on in the buildup exponentiates the variance in the final third!

I had a dream today, Odegaard scoring against Man United in the 1st half, and he angled his goal towards the right post, it was a beautiful goal. Will come back to this post after our game. But it really doesn't solve the problem that is that pur left and side attack still doesn't scare the biggest teams such as bayern etc. We need width on the left to stretch the best teams in Europe. City do it perfectly with their wingers left and right literally on the touchline. We have the right side but I think we need a sane to provide that left hand side width

This is all correct and our depth is admirable, particularly with Zinchenko & Timber's ability to play in midfield.
BUT..... I am really worried about the lack of support/competition for Saka. The poor guy looks like he is being run into the ground. I'm loathe to draw a Dele Alli comparison (there were definitely other factors at play there) but if keep expecting 70 game seasons out of him, all the quality approach play might count for less.

But the idea has always been to force us wide because getting our midfielders on the ball makes us more threatening. From the pre-season so far Liverpool and United successfully forced us wide and minimized our threat significantly, ESPECIALLY LIVERPOOL.
I'm encouraged by thr calafiori ball progression analysis, something we have done with White over the years. It now means a slanted press that shuts down our right, and option of balls through the middle can not deal with Calafiori at LB.
Again, we had that at LB with Timber before he got injured, Tomi to a limited extent.
We however need to be braver on the ball during build up with those zipping passes to cut opposition through the middle(Refer to Westham game with White inverting to create chaos and balls REPEATEDLY cutting through Westham's middle.
Its one of the things I LOVED about Partey in the beginning. I have seen very few midfielders play pressure passes THROUGH the press or mid block like Partey since he arrived. We need that back!
