The generation of brave patriots who fought and lived through this horrible war are passing away at a rate of nearly 1500 a day. There are only 135,000 alive today. Much respect is due to these brave Americans.
Strangely enough, the Americans came very late to BOTH World Wars, when the rest of the world had been fighting and dying for some time, in BOTH instances before they arrived on the scene. Much respect is due to ALL who fought and died for the freedoms we enjoy today! The Americans are only latterly part of that group.
I absolutely love these pictures, sometimes they choke me up, these men gave so much for us! May all of you that survived live long & happy lives, you were amazing! Thank you one & all.
@@rustylucy5636 I’m actually an Australian, but I spent 22 years in Australian S.A.S Regt & am a Vietnam veteran. WWII veterans did it hard, five years of intense combat, I salute them all & thank them from the bottom of my heart, we owe them all so much.

@@rustylucy5636 I can't even begin to fathom how to ever thank all the brave men and women, who answered the call to duty and helped end World War II...
everytime i see the news about america nowadays, really breaks my heart.. seems that kids there dont value those sacrefices..in my poor country here in the pacific, we still take care the remains of our heroes(american heroes)..we'll never forget them. they gave us the true meaning of freedom, they gave us music and sports(billiard)..stay strong america .we dont know how to pay the love that your ancestors had shown to us-our tears isn't enough..salute to you.,.
My gosh these are so good. People bless the servicemen as we should; but I tell you you do a wonderful service to them and for us. Thank you for bringing the Greatest Generation to life for us. To find these photos and then the present day places...thank you for your hard work. I love these.
Thank you to the greatest generation , because of you I was born and grew up in a free country . A debt we can never repay . Much respect and gratitude!
It's amazing how the then photos fade just as who they portray fade into history. It's our responsibility not to never forget them and what they did to keep them alive
Your videos need to be archived somewhere they will be accessible to future generations...Library of Congress maybe...with their GPS coordinates and dates. Locally, permanent markers should be installed to allow future reconstruction of history's events, regardless of how insignificant they might appear. It was significant to those who were there and certainly to the photographer who thought it important enough to memorialize it. Thank you so much for your efforts.
hi, I'm an Italian boy passionate about the Second World War, I'm happy to have discovered your channel, the shorts with the soundtrack of the pacific are really exciting. keep it up and congratulations
My dad served 30 years. WWII and NAM. He was murdered by the nation he served via Agent Orange. Many others were also murdered by this nation by the same method or are maimed.
I don't know why, but I feel very nostalgic for that time although I haven't lived through it, I really would have loved to live that time and learn from it, that generation was strong and full of courage.
Same here, I did recently in a documentary about the army air corps , my dad was a combat medic and trained with the RAF. I know from an old “Vmail” I saw years ago.
I love these small snippets of war. I memorize their faces so I see a part of what they were doing at that moment. I think and wonder how long the lived. I hope that after this they went home and became a 9-5 guy. But lastly I look because most every person in these photos have gone on love your work.
How lucky we are today that our young generation still enjoy peace and its still to this day down to these brave men and women our great grandparents doing what needed to be done and leaving us a better world to live in .

Brings back memories of my dad, was in the army but towards the end of the war, I miss him so much, I not only lost my dad but also my best friend 😞❤
It’s amazing that those houses are still there today, in my country, people would just tear them down and build a new factory or something.
