The thing I don’t like about the show is that he’s actually very smart, he’s a literal scientist, but the show makes him look dumb for the sake of not having to many smart people
I get what your saying but personally I don’t mind. He doesn’t have to measure up to his comic book self to be an enjoyable character. Plus it would be far more difficult for live action to have realistic conflicts if he was his comic book self, as live action tends to have more realistic and grounded stories. I do dislike though when the plot purposely makes Barry look weaker or less smarter at times to create conflicts, but I’ve grown to accept the flaws and still enjoy the show
if he could've kept speed thinking and emotions like he had in the comics he'd finally feel like a grown up flash instead of how he's felt dumber every season

No. But this is an hour long show so we get the usual speedster who's faster than barry, or the villain turned a corner and Barry can't catch him. Its not just the flash. Lots of movies do this too. Quicksilver either couldn't stay to help or had to get his leg broken or put in a coma. But suspension of disbelief is needed for these kinds of things.

Made sense he would get his ass kicked. Zoom rolled in, juiced up on speed steroids, but by Savitar they overdid him so much they just had to nerf him and use the excuse he was fast because he was trapped in the speedforce because Barry wasn't getting faster, Wally was.
The show fell apart. It's evident they didn't have a clear direction, it seemed to be more of a 'let's see what sticks' type of show. It's why I stopped watching it.
They seemed to be implying that this was the speed barry thought at while running but now he's able to do it while standing still (if you ignore the superspeed to use the dry wipe boards)
The difference is the active and “passive” thinking… so before he could think fast when he is using his power, but it is not really the same, as he is still think like a human would. One way to look at it, when he is in his super-speed mode, everything seems to slow down for him and he just simply has more time to think when everyone else is in slow motion (if that makes any sense). But with this new ability, his thinking becomes passive, like he no longer needs to think anymore, there is no “thinking” happen, his brain just passively calculate all the possible outcomes for whatever current scenario he is in and everything is already like a big archive of results in his brain, and this archive is constantly updating live 24/7
It's not the same thing I think. When he's in the flash time the time slows down for him as a whole. Like, imagine if you were in the flash time, does it mean that you would wait in there until you develop a new mathematical formula without being bored? That is the difference. When Barry thinks fast he doesn't think in normal time from his perspective.
If he did he would be too OP. There wouldn’t be a show anymore. He would win every battle in under one second. Even the all powerful Devoe would lose(depending on who thinks what first, because they would just be trying to counter each other’s moves)
The reason why they didn't keep this ability in is because if they did his entire "flash team" would be completely pointless......don't you know that the flash isn't about the flash anymore and its mainly about the side characters.....the show is complete garbage lol ever since the 3rd to 4th season its become a cringey comedy drama series about team flash

This episode and the one where he loses his memory is actual happy for once are the best episodes past season 1. We get to see him smart AND happy. Now all we need is for his job to become part of the story again.

Yes and no, he's not using farsight or clairvoyancy but one of the aspects of his speed thinking allows him to develop simulations for an event to occur. For example in this scene he can tell the direction of the seemingly random movement of the quantum ball ( trademark pending ) by calculations to determine trajectory etc given the surroundings ( the room they're in) and thus determine where it will go, so basically pattern recognition or predictions by calculations given existing values. That's one of the ways he can tell what's going to happen. But there's more science behind it that you can do research on, it's similar to how certain aspects of AI work to compare to an understandable reference. But yes, ideally when Barry achieved a level of control of his optimum speed and here on after he should have been able to keep his super thinking but the direction the writing took limited that for whatever reasons the writers decided on. The comics also demonstrate better how his speed works on a whole and with regards to your last point, his body and mind indeed face challenges with respect to his environment for example although it's not the same thing as this but a similar example is that Barry moves so fast that perception-wise everything seems slower to him, ( this was demonstrated in earlier season for example when he catches bullets or a catches a cup that someone drops ) so something like even talking to people who are non speedsters is practically torture for him and it doesn't really go away when you think about but people just ignore it in the moment or accept that it's happening and continue with the story.
I really wanted them to find a way to find a balance with this. Keep Barry speed thinking but have him not be like a robot and his usual "paragon of love" self. Imagine him then versus Thinker lol.
He should always be thinking like this. Think about it, your brain at its normal speed with super speed can’t process things properly. If you superspeed from home to a near McDonald’s, your brain would still think that your at home as it can’t process everything at that speed. In fact, having superspeed is impossible without having your brain thinking at superspeed.
Well I think Barry always had some level of speed thinking but it was never amplified to this degree. He’s able to read and memorize books in seconds as well as shuffle and change his thoughts at super speed like he did against the Royal Flush Gang in Season 8.

It's like driving a car that goes at 100.000 mph through an obstacle course that has obstacles at every 50 feet. Do I even need to do the math and tell you how many times per second you would have to steer the wheel in order to avoid the obstacles ? The show can't afford decent CGI, no chance they would have been able to get a somewhat decent physicist to fact check what the writers threw onto the script haphazardly
I can almost swear there was a comic book panel about the flash complaining that the watchtower's super computer was too slow but it was literally the fastest computer (aside from maybe cyborg?) they could make.
I used to think that Speed Force Nora was going to give Barry this power back but without side effect of lacking emotions. Disappointed that didn't happened.
This is part of what’s wrong with this show. He should’ve already been processing information in attoseconds in season 1. All of these powers come from the normal speed force
The reason he didn't have superspeed thinking is because team flash would literally become useless. If he can figure out the answer faster then his "team" can then what's the point of them. Barry is smart but by making him stupid they can kept writing bad stories and unless characters.
He had it already on season 2, when he literally read 5 books with Earth 2 Wells. He had time flash in episode 2, in which he could perfectly think at super speed
It can argued this is slow thinking for comic flash. In one of the injustice comics Superman asks flash to play some chess. Barry had never played chess before and didn’t know much. So he went over to the watchtower computer and in between 1 panel, which is probably like a second or two, he was able to absorb so much information he was able to not only play Superman at super speed while having a conversation but he even beat him. Like he was able to go from not being able to play, and within 1 or 2 secs he was able to play at super speed, have a conversation, and win.

If you think about it when Barry says 'She wasn't the first to sue my emotions against me." that is the EXACT moment Barry realizes through speed thinking that his emotions are getting in the way so he pushes his humanity back so no one can use them against him again. Of course this backfires.. but that's sort of the point.

Okay so there's several problems with the idea of him being super smart all the time. One if he was super smart all the time it'll erase the point of other characters. What's Cisco going to do if he's the super smart one? This clip basically showed that Cisco became irrelevant because he became super smart. There's no need for a bunch of cheerleaders. Two it erases the idea of anyone being a threat to him. What are they slightly faster than him? That wouldn't even have lasted one season. The great thing about flash's villains and they aren't just all faster than him. Sometimes they're smarter sometimes they're more clever. The idea of a relatively normal person being able to outsmart him makes them a good villain. Cuz they're not going to outrun him. If you're going to write a comic about a character unless you're writing an isekai..... He has to have flaws.
I think they often forget he is supposed to be the one who made giddeon a futuristic ai... Unfortunately if he was actually as smart as barry in the comics team flash wouldn't need exist he would be a solo act...

The reason he didn't have superspeed thinking is because team flash would literally become useless. If he can figure out the answer faster then his "team" can then what's the point of them. Barry is smart but by making him stupid they can kept writing bad stories and unless characters.

It can argued this is slow thinking for comic flash. In one of the injustice comics Superman asks flash to play some chess. Barry had never played chess before and didn’t know much. So he went over to the watchtower computer and in between 1 panel, which is probably like a second or two, he was able to absorb so much information he was able to not only play Superman at super speed while having a conversation but he even beat him.
Like he was able to go from not being able to play, and within 1 or 2 secs he was able to play at super speed, have a conversation, and win.

His perception of things around him is different to having precognition
His Flash time ability just allows him extra time to think, but super speed thinking is basically precognition as he's seeing the future
His perceptions also shift, he can only stay in super speed for so long. An example of this is the "Enter Flashtime" episode from Season 4.

If you think about it when Barry says 'She wasn't the first to sue my emotions against me." that is the EXACT moment Barry realizes through speed thinking that his emotions are getting in the way so he pushes his humanity back so no one can use them against him again. Of course this backfires.. but that's sort of the point.

Okay so there's several problems with the idea of him being super smart all the time. One if he was super smart all the time it'll erase the point of other characters. What's Cisco going to do if he's the super smart one?

The great thing about flash's villains and they aren't just all faster than him. Sometimes they're smarter sometimes they're more clever. The idea of a relatively normal person being able to outsmart him makes them a good villain.
