As usual, I feel like I sound negative in the video, but I did really enjoy Asura's Wrath, I just wish it had a little more gameplay variety and fleshed out his character a little more. Anyway, thanks for checking the video out.
Asura’s Wrath felt like if you stretched one of those really cool one off anime movies like RedLine or Tailenders and made it a 10 hour game. You can tell why it’s got its fan base because you feel the passion that was put into it, but it would be disingenuous to not mention its faults. Really nostalgic for this game, but I probably wouldn’t play it more than once. Thanks for reminding me of this gem.
Yeah it was really cool, just like those movies, but you gotta have that cooldown period or it just becomes noise you know? It would be awesome to see what the team could have made if they got to keep refining the formula.
@@RPC87at least the ps3 emulation had come a long way, though I've not looked in to the roms much because they're so big. I love those games, even if they are all brown and use too much bloom.
@@KalTheSkeleton ya for emulation you need some time to sit down and tinker with it to get the results you want. The bloom problem is real hahaha. I just loved how the developers did so much with so little. Now we have so little in terms of originality with so much power.
@@KalTheSkeletonAll your criticisms were valid. It’s a very flawed game but I love Cyberconnect2 in general and their experimental games like .hack, the Little Tail Bronx series, and this game. It’s so sad that they’re just a Bandai namco anime game mill because when they make original stuff it is always interesting and unique.
@@ObliviousBen it is sad even though as far as the Bandai anime games go they still make some decent stuff, it feels very cookie cutter. I actually really loved those .Hack ps2 RPGs when I was a kid, but I tried playing Infection a few months ago and it is rough.
1:32 I remember that laying the demo on PS3 and this blew my mind. In retrospect, it was smart of the developers to put this fight in the demo, yet I still get the feeling that they set the bar too high for themselves.
You know, I agree. It's awesome spectacle, but the emotional roller-coaster of the intro has such large, consistent spikes that it makes the middle feel kind of flat by comparison. Maybe if they had started with Kalrow, then Wyzen and then the first Yasha fight, it would have broken things up a little more. Anyway, thanks for checking out the video. This is the longest I've made and it didn't get a ton of traction, so I figured it was less enjoyable. I'm glad you liked it.
It really is. For every bit that games like uncharted wanted to be like movies, this game succeeded in being like an anime, it's a shame it's kind of forgotten.
That would have been a huge punch in the gut. It's bad enough when a game cuts off with a "to be continued" but to cut off with a "8 more dollars to continue the ride" would leave me pretty sour. Also, sorry if I pronounced your name wrong.
I really hope some day we get a sequel to this game that has better focus and direction and some ladies on the dev team to reign in the "check out my sweet story board of action figures crashing into each other and screaming while human tragedy is both presented and largely ignored" in favor of check that out out but also look at the horrible cost of our hubris and let's make this make a bit more sense than absolutely none at all.
That would be awesome, a mountain dew fueled teenage Kal probably would have loved this game, but a mountain dew fueled middle aged Kal just wants a little more substance. I don't know anything about the dev team demographics that worked on this one, but I'm all for more people and more types of people making more games for more types of people.

Great video as always Kal!! :D

@@early-tv thanks, and they really do tell a story. Not a story I'm allowed to tell on youtube though.

Asura is angy
Give him some chocolate milk to calm down
Anger management therapists hate this one weird trick!
I would kill for a 4k 60fps remaster. Craziest f'in game ever
@@RPC87 Capcom has been talking about remastering some of their older stuff, it's the least they could do to let people play it on other platforms.

Well I hope I don't sound too critical. It was very cool, even if I do wish some things were different.

I call that a missed opportunity.
But how could you even listen to the video if my voice kept making you want fried chicken?
The camera work in this game is so good.

Man, I remember loving this right up until the ending - where it wanted me to pay for DLC. That was the only shame, really.
