Roman says tech for the sake of tech is just silly. Please knock it off with the ageism. Just because it’s new does not make it automatically better. For example the latest iPhone is just a more expensive copy of the last 10 gens.
I couldn’t even get past 5 minutes of this video bc you guys complained about every single thing. It was literally unreal. Maybe you all should’ve left this car out of your review bc it was grossly critical.
Roman is the wooooorst for these. What’s with all the charging FUD? Someone who can afford this will have a place to charge at home. “People are getting turned off because it’s so confusing” and you’re purposely trying to muddy the waters.
I don't know anyone who has an EV who relies predominantly on public charging. And I'd say, frankly, if your use case involves the need for significant public charging then it's probably not yet time for you to get an EV. I dunno. It's like people are so hidebound in their ways they can't get off the service station paradigm. I thought Toyota's recent patent for a non-functional 'gearshift' for EVs was one of the most inane ideas I'd seen recently but it might actually appeal to guys like those two. Toyota might be onto something.
Does that touch door button fumbles when it's wet? Can you guys test them? The touch keypad on my wife's escape didn't work when it rains. Hopefully we don't have to see mach e owners do that dance in the rain 😆
I agree with Nathan on the name. It should’ve just been “Mach E”. And I also agree with Roman’s rant. For us charging at home would be the only way to go.
Yeah putting “mustang” on this was a mistake. Similar to the “bronco” sport, which isn’t anything but a marketing ploy to sell more of their smaller suvs. Nice cars, but they aren’t legacies like their names would otherwise have you believe.
The only thing holding me back is the infrastructure of electric charging and the price of ev's. Hopefully over time they'll be cheaper. Nice product 👌
Ford did a brilliant job keeping the Mustang name alive making a raised up version of the Mustang. It still needs work but has potential, Ford could really fix the hood to make it look like a Mustang, the door "handles" need to go so it has proper door handles at least to look like a 2-door, and the rear tail lights could be pushed out a bit more which could give it a bit more cargo volume. A decent vehicle and it does anger The Mustang fans but Ford has to do what they gotta do to make money it's the beauty of Capitalism in our country. They can afford to lose Mustang fans while they recruit new ones.
Nice car and I’m glad they’ve kept the Start / Stop button 👍🏻 This in the UK will be about the same price as a fully loaded 2022 facelifted Jag I-Pace , so I’d go for that instead 🚙 I agree about the charging at home, get a few solar panels or wind turbine and a few storage batteries and you’re laughing, especially the way fuel prices are rising !!!
4.71 seconds to 0-60 in the Mach E GT? Yeah, there were 3 people (2 of them quite large) and around 66% battery, but doesn't the regular Kia EV6 GT do around the same? They also didn't mention that the Mach E GT only gives 5 seconds of max power...
The center console it seems their issues are age centered. Like a younger person used to technology would be able to use it a lot faster and easier than them. It is like when my parents called me to show them something on their phone over and over again because they don’t underit
Ordinarily it would be a definite Lease from me. However, from a financial standpoint, I say buy. Because, the market is so hot right now that if you get tired of the thing after 6 months to a year, you can just trade it in on something else for top dollar. IF you Lease, you are stuck in a financial bind of paying for it longer than you might want to be. Otherwise, yeah, Lease is usually the way I would go for flipping a NEW vehicle in the short term.
100% agree. These things are getting marked up anywhere from $5k to $15k and with I’m guessing the market will be constrained with supply for quite awhile longer so you should have no problem selling it and getting your money back in the short term….assuming you don’t pay a $15k markup! They have a “Ford Options” financing plan for just for the MachE and Lightning that operates like a lease but you get the full tax credit instead of Ford getting it with a lease.
@@brianprice1531 That puts you and I in the smart/wise category. lol But you know, TFL has admitted many times they are not financial wizards when it comes to the profit of buy and sell of their vehicles. Buy high, sell low and pay for a ton of repairs in-between. lol
You must not have had a choice about the car you were given to review. The GT Performance Edition should have been the GT, which would have given them a way to create a higher trim level that had more performance for those that think that autocross, tracking, and quarter-mile times are the most awesome things. This model has the ugly rims, doesn't have the panoramic roof for more headroom and perceived interior room, isn't a PE so it doesn't have Magneride shocks for a better ride, and sits lower than the Premium so there's less ground clearance and a lower seating position (which is often why people buy SUV's and crossovers). There's very little reason to choose the GT over the Premium or the GT-PE. You literally picked the worst model in the lineup! Your complaints about the name are old. Give it a rest. It wasn't all that clever when it started, and here we are years later, and it just makes you look foolish and biased. Given the large block of time you spent complaining about tuning Sirius XM stations, you could at least have shown if/how the voice activation could have tuned your beloved Chill channel vs. hand-tuning it. I've never paid for Sirius XM because it's not worth anything per month, much less the prices they want for it, so I can't feel your pain, but watching you grouse about tuning to a radio station was painful enough. There are plenty of things to push Ford on to improve in the Mustang Mach-E. Unfortunately, you spent so much time on insignificant things that you must not have had enough time to compile useful criticism that would help Ford improve and help your viewers decide for themselves whether or not this was worth checking out. A disservice all around. Please stop the griping, though, it's painful to watch. I won't stick around for it, and you've gotta wonder how your analytics might do without it.
Fast charging definitely could be better, and looking forward to improvements… but honestly how often are you driving more than 200-250 miles in a day where you’ll need to fast charge?
Romans comparison of going to a gas station vs charging an EV…. Really misleading. EVs are charged at home. Charging on a road trip is uneven but it’s typically 10-30 minutes… a 500 mile day is one or two stops.
Originally it was supposed to be the next generation of the C-Max but the C-Max name doesn't carry the weight in the US that it does in Europe. If you look at the body shape it's basically just a C-Max with a hastily tacked-on body cladding.
Thanks for the review guys. I think the glass roof option makes a big difference in the feeling of spaciousness inside. I actually am picking up this same model/color in a few weeks but it has the glass roof. Always enjoy watching your videos and glad you now have a dedicated EV channel. Also, the Mach E was named one of the 10 best cars for 2022 by consumer reports and was the top overall electric car.
They tested the rear “door handles” and less than 5% of kids actually used the door handles. Front doors less than 30% of adults used the door handles.
I like Ford's method of opening the door more than my Model 3. The model 3/Y is almost impossible if your hands are full. At least with this, you only need a finger free. I carry a lot of tools and things for work and it's annoying to have to put stuff down first. Of course just a regular handle that you pull would be best, I'm sure they could think of a way to make the aero negligible on one. The Model S method would be OK if it was reliable.
Agree. Electromechanical complication aside, it's a very good door opening mechanism once you get used to it. I think there's an argument to be made that it's unnecessarily complex, but I think it's less inherently subject to problems with icing over than designs that recede flush into the door. And I also think a lot of people just dislike it because it's different.
@@krane15 Its pretty practical. I have 2 kids and it has more than enough room for sitting and luggage if the need for a vacation arises. Not pretty, is your opinion and subjective. Its a great looking car, way better than the tesla hands down. hell, better looking than most SUV's out there.

Ford calling this a Mustang will go down as the greatest marketing strategy of all time. Think about it... If this thing was just called a Mach-E, or anything else (besides a GT40 spin off), it would've been an instant flop. No one would care for it, talk about it, and people would have little to talk about. With the Mustang badge, the controversy is helping get FAR MORE eyes on it, resulting in more sales than they ever would've had otherwise.
Can I just say I hate how new cars seem to no longer include even a space saver spare wheel. I think every car should have that. A flat can leave you stranded and needing an expensive tow without one.
And, in a potentially dangerous situation, too. My wife suffered a flat tire, unrepairable with the miserable inflation/tire goop kit provided by Toyota in the trunk and the dealership wouldn't even sell me a donut spare because her car wasn't equipped with one from the factory.
Most vehicles like these come with run flats, they are terribly expensive tires but have saved me when I got a flat. I was able to drive on a flat tire to the nearest tire shop when I hit a curb with my hybrid. I think run flats can go about 50 miles as long as the speed is relatively low. I just paid $1200 for brand new tires but they lasted me almost 3 years so it's not too bad.

Couple of thoughts, batteries are batteries to a certain point- by that I mean as they get closer to a full charge the charge rate has to decrease. I wonder how much of an oversizing game the manufacturers play or should play for a good consumer experience. So if the fast rate is to 80% and the car is rated at 100 kW/hr battery but was actually 125 kW/hr it could have more opportunities to rapid charge to “full” at 100 kW/hr more frequently and possibly keep that rating for longer as the battery ages. The rear hatch door handle being not an integral piece is likely due to the handle construction. I’m guessing there’s a metal hoop connected to the hatch and shrouded with plastic half shells to keep the material similar in color, texture..so some gorilla doesn’t yank it from its moorings by doing gorilla type tricks like ratchet strapping the gate down on something large purchased at the big DIY box stores. 😂
Ford named this vehicle Mustang because I believe they lacked confidence in a new product, hung that name on it and could not care less about losing some of their loyal customers. It looks like a Focus.

TFL needs a new channel featuring exclusively Roman reviewing new car tech. Call it "cranky old man car reviews." Love TFL, but man with every passing year Roman becomes more and more of a luddite and curmudgeon. Reminds me of talking to my grandpa about anything that was invented after 1980 :p
Roman says tech for the sake of tech is just silly. Please knock it off with the ageism. Just because it’s new does not make it automatically better. For example the latest iPhone is just a more expensive copy of the last 10 gens.
@@TFLEV I’m over 40 myself. No ageism here. I’m just ribbing you guys and love your channels. I have heard Tommy tell Roman the same things!
7:38 there is no lvl 3. its dcfc.
“People are getting turned off because it’s so confusing” and you’re purposely trying to muddy the waters.
why electric car charging stations dont have a roof like gas stations do if they're so weather sensitive?
Thanks for the addendum that for most everyday use you charge AT HOME and NEVER have to go to a fuel station.
Does the button to open the door work when it's freezing outside? Like freezing rain or snowing?
just remote pre-heat the cabin before? it's not 1980 anymore
I haven’t seen you 2 work together in a while. I miss it! Thanks for the review.
Nathan and a buddy review. Now that is a win win.
Old men yell at clouds: the youtube video
Ford did a brilliant job keeping the Mustang name alive making a raised up version of the Mustang. It still needs work but has potential, Ford could really fix the hood to make it look like a Mustang, the door "handles" need to go so it has proper door handles at least to look like a 2-door, and the rear tail lights could be pushed out a bit more which could give it a bit more cargo volume. A decent vehicle and it does anger The Mustang fans but Ford has to do what they gotta do to make money it's the beauty of Capitalism in our country. They can afford to lose Mustang fans while they recruit new ones.
Charging speeds are really a factor if your on a trip, most people charge on lv 2 overnight…… no big deal.
Nice car and I’m glad they’ve kept the Start / Stop button 👍🏻
This in the UK will be about the same price as a fully loaded 2022 facelifted Jag I-Pace , so I’d go for that instead 🚙
I agree about the charging at home, get a few solar panels or wind turbine and a few storage batteries and you’re laughing, especially the way fuel prices are rising !!!
Roman is spot on to rant about the sad sad state of the charging situation.
The last Ford Fusions design language was inspired by the s550 mustang, so technically...... It still looks like a Mustang.
I've seen one of these in the wild and it looks much better in person.
Originally it was supposed to be the next generation of the C-Max but the C-Max name doesn't carry the weight in the US that it does in Europe. If you look at the body shape it's basically just a C-Max with a hastily tacked-on body cladding.
The Snarf's test is back! I thought that went away years ago, lol
I’m right on the fence for this car. Has anyone used one as a daily for a decent amount of time? Any thoughts?
You guys are way too emotional about a word for Horse.
Roman rant. Love it.
A friend just found out that the 'Mustang' Mach-E was being made . . . he came unglued. I don't care much myself, actually
I find it a little amusing.
They tested the rear “door handles” and less than 5% of kids actually used the door handles. Front doors less than 30% of adults used the door handles.
Sounds like most kids and adults need to learn to treat their cars better. Use the handle! It's not hard.
Best vehicle on the market right now
kia and hyunDIE are NOT competition ! lmao
those new mics get rid of wind buffeting.
And I also think a lot of people just dislike it because it's different.
nice looking..wish it was electric & gas. is this manufactured in the u.s a. being an American car?
$64,000 for a compact hatchback, basically.
Its fast, but not pretty or practical. Consider it a sports car.
@@krane15 Its pretty practical. I have 2 kids and it has more than enough room for sitting and luggage if the need for a vacation arises. Not pretty, is your opinion and subjective. Its a great looking car, way better than the tesla hands down. hell, better looking than most SUV's out there.
They should have called it the Donk-E.
I'd give up a second or two on 0-60 to add more range or shorter charging times.
Although not Mustang related Stellantis is building a plant for battery manufacturing in partnership with LG.
CBC news has unofficially confirmed this today.
“The plant will be built by Stellantis and LG Energy Solution, according to Bloomberg, which first reported the news on Friday. A source who later spoke to CBC confirmed the report that a plant is coming. “
The plant will be built in the Windsor Essex region of the province of Ontario, Canada.
Yeah, we know they exist. Our dealer has been sitting on the same one for over a year. He can't give it away.
All press negative or positive is still press.
You guys may as well just made it a 30 second video and just say you hate the vehicle 😂😂🤷♂️
Nathan the eel thing is neat, I told my dad who sells for Stellantis group to bring the Viper back Electric and call it the Eel
The Moray!
Can’t wait to see a comparison video of the Mach E and the Lightning. Best bang for your buck which one to get.
It is funny that Nathan likes hair Nation when he doesn't have any
I want to trade my MYP in for this. Just need a charging network. Few more years? Maybe?
depends where you live, most ev's just charge at home
@@tuminatr I have an EV, I charge at home most the time. But I travel with it too and that is when the network matters. Do people buy an EV and don’t go anywhere?
Eventually every Ford is either going to be a Mustang, a Bronco or an F150.
I clicked because the original duo were in the video. Other hosts are fine, but these 2 are good.
You guys should only be allowed to drive cars from 70s. Anything else has too many new features for you.
I'll have to finish watching later, but do they take it for a quarter mile? Seems like Ford doesn't want people to know it's slow
For the good of the EV channel pls keep Roman occupied elsewhere…. I fully expect him to start yelling “hey get off of my lawn!” Sheesh
Agreed, you could tell he had a chip on his shoulder
100% Ford Options it (balloon financing with a guaranteed residual) and still claim federal tax credit. Sync 4a criticisms are spot on.
You are spot on…Ford Options the way to go on the MachE.
It’s disturbing to see how much time was spent driving and fooling with the tech screen. It’s like texting and driving all over again due to these cars having all these distracting, hard to navigate computers. We need standards for cars or we will suffer from more distracted driver incidents guaranteed.
These guys are always complaining about stupid stuff and are completely non techy. Its a compact SUV and updated to compete w/ the Tesla's modern feel. Also, they complain about how easy about getting gas is vs the charging stations, but if your going for an electric car, odds are, your doing it for a few reasons and one is probably your wanting to get away from fossil fuels. So, I could care less about any gas problem, especially the prices.
I just bought the GT and love it. I'm a bigger guy and love the seats and have plenty room at 5' 10" 220 lbs, more than enough room. other adults have also no problem with thhe room in the back and say its roomy.
If you want this, get it, you wont be disappointed. I literally freaked my 8 year old, because I was showing her and my wife the 0-60 and the head pull back is definitely there.
Wow Roman!
I've watched tons of TFL videos. And you came across negatively biased toward this car to me. Makes me wonder if there was something behind the scenes. Maybe just a bad day.
Rough ride, claustrophobic back seats, complaints about the touch screen, doesn't sound appealing.
But ford calls it a frunk on the lighting? "Mega Power Frunk" ? maybe they changed their mind on the terminology
I have a problem as well, Nathan, of it being called a Mustang.
The mustang has looked like a fusion since 2015 though.
I like Roman's rants!
Title should be “Two old guys roast Fords new EV!”😂😂😂 Just kidding you both had very excellent points that I mostly agree with. Feels Ford tried too hard on this.
You couldn't pay me to own a small electric vehicle. I need a full size electric Suv or truck. Or else I'm sticking to gas combustion

I am the same height as Roman and I had a hell of a time getting in the back of the Mach-E, and the visibility was terrible. In the driver seat my knee hit the corner of the screen that they installed the wrong way.
Own one Love it I just run the tires soft

Oof this channel has old mindsets that are basically full of old dudes saying get off my lawn. The guy in the hat tries to use logic but the other guy isn't listening and is just waiting to talk and spout out of touch thinking. Go test your ICE cars if that's what you like otherwise leave progressive and innovative concepts to the more open-minded and frankly smarter people.

This is giving me old man yells at cloud vibes.
"It's still a pain in the @$$ compared to an ICE car." And I thought Roman was going to say Tesla instead.
no no no no....that doesnt look like a ford fusion.... i think it has Urus appeal
Give me a daily electric for my commuter car to work 65 miles round trip with plenty of range to spare for 25k and I'm a customer.
went on the website and leasing a mach E costs more than buying it....
The 2022 Gt 240v DC. Very catchy.
Ford named this vehicle Mustang because I believe they lacked confidence in a new product, hung that name on it and could not care less about losing some of their loyal customers. It looks like a Focus.
The Focus design was based on the Mustang
