Thank you for coming back to Nightwish, you have a new subscriber here! Today you met Floor Jansen, the 3rd and current singer of the band, in a famous concert from 2013, in Wacken, Germany. You are absolutely right, their energy is intense and optimistic at the same time, unaffected by the passage of time. All the best, from Romania!
When you want to go further on the path of our 1.83m (6ft.+) tall Dutch Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen besides Nightwish, here is some background information on the best and most versitale female singer of our time. Floor joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. Here are some of my favourites: ‘Energize me’; Monolith of Doubt’ and Dreamflight’. Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She also studied 2 years at the Conservatory (1 year Music Theatre and 1 year Opera). 'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song from full operatic to death growls in seconds. Here are some examples: ‘Misery’s no Crime’, ‘Wild card’ and ‘Disdain’. Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. There is a documentary made of this world tour: ‘Please learn the setlist in 48 hours’ Floor joined Nightwish after this iconic Wacken concert in 2013 as permanent member of the band. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp’ also, but it was clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. Floor did a side project called 'Northward' where she dived into the Hard Rock scene. The song 'While Love Died is a must see. Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. There are numerous guest appearances with other bands to find on TH-cam. To see how to get a crowd of metalheads silenced and in awe watch her featuring with the band 'Epica' and the song 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa’ and to see her in full opera mode, watch her rendition of 'O Mio Babbino Caro' from Puccini. As live concerts were cancelled and home isolation due to the Covid situation, Floor discovered TH-cam in these years. Mindblowing covers, chats with her idols and other singers, vocal masterclasses, personal insights and so much more. She even made a video reacting to herself singing Ghost Love Score at Wacken. Lots of technical info and some memories of her starting with Nightwish. Also her Fan Friday videos are hilarious. Just unpack some of these and other presents she left on her channel. Also videos of her solotour she did with songs of her impressive career. Her latest endeavour is her stunning solo album ‘My Paragon. Floor is a high sensitive person, so peace and quiet is as important for her. Living by the woods in Sweden with her husband Hannes Van Dahl (drummer of the band Sabaton), daughters Freja (turned 7 years this march) and Lucy (born last october) ,a couple of horses, dogs and cats, she found this.
Singers sing what they can, Floor Jansen sings what she wants❤once she sang the phonebook in a Dutch radioshow ❤and It sound like a real song ❤her voice just touch your soul and grab your heart ❤she is one of a kind ❤our Valkyrie queen ❤
🤩👍💥💯 🎼 Now that you've seen and heard in what they're capable on stage I kindly urge you to explore more of this magical band. Neat reaction mi lady and keep on rockin' with them! Cheers from Finland. 🤘😎 🇫🇮 💙
Welcome to "new" Nightwish with Floor Jansen singing, third and recent lead vocalist. When she joined the band in 2012, the fans created the new word "Floorgasm" to describe the experience listening to her. This concert 2013 at Wacken Open Air Festival in Germany is considered a masterpiece from beginning to end. Very fitting your outfit shows the national colours of Germany, black, red and gold, beautiful !🥰 Greets from Germany, new sub
Great reaction, you have a new subscriber. Yes, Nightwish is something else - you cannot really compare them to other bands. They have their very own style, dramatic, poetic, heavy and soft, absorbing you totally. And Floor's voice seems to be from another world. I have listened to many great female singers but no other voice is able to embrace me, suck me in, touch my soul so deeply like Floor's. May be it is because Floor is an empath (highly sensitive, her father talked about this in an interview); she becomes the song and is able to pass the emotions in it to the audience. She gives you strength, hope, joy, beauty and comfort with her songs; when she sings the world seems to be a better place. I recommend her solo song "Invincible" (it is about people suffering from PTSD); I always cry when listening to it. Floor's husband Hannes has made a great video for this song (th-cam.com/video/ee3i72-HN6o/w-d-xo.html).
Listening to this for the first time a decade ago was a profound and elevating experience for me. The greatness and glory in the music and especially her outstanding singing were just overwhelming. And this performance will never stop thrilling me.
Quite coincidental that this song was released in 2004 being part of her fifth studio album, about 20yrs ago and one of her most popular songs. Amazing reaction to her performance
@FelicityEffa The original song was recorded by Nightwish's first singer, Tarja. This is the same song sung by the 3rd singer, who adds her own style and an extra ending to the original. Beautiful.
