I lost both keys to my Yamaha vstar 1300 in a move. I was able to remove the helmet lock which is the same key as the ignition. I noticed the key goes deeper into the ignition than the seat lock. If I got one cut to the helmet lock, would it still work in the ignition?

@ZedsD3adBaby hello, the helmet lock doesn't have all the wafers in there only the ignition switch has all of the cuts .

@ZedsD3adBaby ok. I pulled my whole ignition off and took it to a locksmith. I'm hoping he can get it

Yes one key fits any lock on the bike.

@gregoryratliff1069 not exactly. Yes it fits all the locks but you need the ignition switch to make the entire key because the helmet lock and or gas cap lock doens have all the wafers in it . If you make key for gas cap, it might not have all the wafers as the ignition switch does

I realize this is an older video but perhaps you received another Zuma Ignition switch since then. Under the cap there is a spring how does this spring position.
If you have a complete disassemble of this ignition switch and reassembly id be happy. Recently I bought a 2012 Zuma with a broken key in ignition in the run position. I dissembled the switch and reassembled. I remove the broken key. I had a key made off the broken key and it works the gas cap. Unfortunately, I must have assembled the casing slightly off as the fresh new key made design would not turn the wafers. It did prior to installing the top cap hence my question on the spring. If I figure it out ill post a video of the complete process.

No option to rekey it with new wafers?

The existing key would also fit the gas cap and perhaps helmet lock so it was best to key it as is.
