I bought the m200 about 3yr ago. I've fired 0ver 1500 rds of 200gr 38 police hand loads . My timing and fit of the 200 are still the same as before I started. Trigger and hammer have smothed up from use. But for a cheap pc. It's been alot of fun. RiA says they are made from 4140 steel through out. Even as cast 4140 is much better steel that some of the older revolves. So far so good 👍
I bought one. Shot 100 rounds on day one. I'm not emotionally invested in this gun and don't even feel financially invested since it was $200 and I've spent that much on dinner for the family before. I'm not a gunsmith by any stretch and am trying to learn more about revolvers. I do have a wrangler, a SP101 and a blackhawk. ALL of the cylinder catches come up, prior to the cylinder catch notch and prior to the dip that leads to the cylinder catch notch. If they're not supposed to, then all of my revolvers are out of sync. I'd like to see a video of a revolver that is in sync with that notch. Also, my extractor rod slides in and out very smoothly. Don't get me wrong, this revolver isn't as slick as my SP101 or Blackhawk by any stretch but I don't see the problems you're pointing out. Maybe you got a lemon. I'll bet Armscor will replaced it for free. Lifetime warranty. I'll check back in when I've put 1,000 rounds of reloads through it, but It may be a while.
Has this gun been redesigned since this video was made? I picked one up in October and i've put over 300 rds through it since then and it runs like a swiss watch.
They will honor supplying you with a brand new replacement especially if you tell them you have a TH-cam account and review. I own this gun and it is PERFECT. EVERYTHING that is wrong with yours in this video is absolutely perfect with mine. As a matter of fact I’m going shooting with it tomorrow and will be shaking my head thinking about this sad video while enjoying my awesome M200.
I don't know what to tell you, but my m 206 (snub nose version of your gun) is excellent. I must compliment you on your excellent eyesight though. Being able to distinguish the difference in the gap between the forcing cone and the cylinder with the naked eye is indeed impressive.
You said it yourself the gun is obviously used, I'm no gun expert by any means but isn't it a little silly to attribute the flaws of a used gun to the same models that come out of their production facility? People in the $200 market for a pistol probably aren't looking for something to win a shooting competition or beauty contest, at least me. As long as it goes bang when I need it to without exploding I'm happy.
Jeez, I almost bought one. I’m sure glad I listened to an “expert” such as yourself. Now I know that all my other revolvers are out of time too. The cylinder stop “pops” up in all of them. Mmmm….
You are the first person to go over it that way good job, they say you do get lemons but it's a life time guarantee send it back. But once you get a new one they say you can't beat it for the money, they love them. You know your guns. Good luck
Lol it's a 250.00 gun not a 450.00 gun . Of course it's Not finely tuned . This is a gun for someone starting out or just a kick around gun for your Grandkids to shoot when they are over on the weekends. A half assed table top gunsmith can smooth up this thing with .50cents of Emery cloth and make it 50% better with out paying 100.00 more for a kick around gun. Like they say it is what it is . You get what you pay for
There's a bit of misinformation here in regards to timing. Ideally the bolt should come up in the lead to the cylinder notch. Not at the cylinder notch. You don't want the bolt to start peaning the edge of the cylinder notch. That will cause problems later when the bolt won't fully enter the notch.
I take strong exception to the Armscor 200 critic. I purchased my first Model 200 in October 2010. I have put a lot of .38's down range with my Armscor. When I say a lot, at least 600-rounds+ in a near 14-year period of ownership. My 200 was so bad that I purchased two more Armscor revolvers, the Model 206 double & single-action and a DAO Model 206. The first 206 came 10-years ago, the DAO 206 a recent purchase. Yeah buddy, the fact that the 200 has the same exact profile as the 1977 Colt Police Positive, with exception to the Colt blue finish. Right out of the box in 2010, at the local gun range, I have shot mostly standard load .38's, with quite a few rounds of +P ammo. The 200 and 206 Armscor has thick steel top straps, excellent fixed sights, and factory grips that can be interchanged with post 1966 Colt D-Frame Grips, if desired. I don't know about this man's Model 200. But food for thought. Considering the excellent, no problem service I have received from all three Armscor Revolvers I now own, if I were a young cop again, back in our revolver days, my confidence in the Armscor would extend to duty revolver use. This young man needs to price the new Colt Viper that. Colt has recently introduced. At 999-dollars a pop, for a fixed sight .38/.357 revolver, the Armscor critic can get that fine detail to polishing, minus some of the machining markings on the inside of the frame, totally invisible to the naked eye. My trigger-action on my first Armscor, the Model 200, seem to smooth out after a couple of hundred rounds or so. For my 250-dollar Model 200, and the two Model 206 Revolvers, smooth sailing from hard time testing. The Model 200 is a working man's handgun. You can pack this arm in your vehicle, in your boat, at home for violent booger-bears visiting uninvited, for the armed security officer, that wants a reliable duty revolver that will provide the defense needed. The only competitor that comes close to the reliability of the Model 200, is the Taurus Model 82. Why would this gentleman pay 250-bucks for a new Model 200 just to make a video bad-mouthing the hell out of it? There are plenty of satisfied Armscor 200 and 206 owners that will disagree with your "short-life" prediction of your Model 200. Maybe you were one of the unlucky buyers that got a lemon 200. Send it back to the factory with a detailed explanation of what you think is wrong. They back their product line up. My ownership of the Armscor also extends to their excellent GI 1911 .45 Pistol.
One thing that you really need to do anytime you buy a revolver is test it for push off, especially anytime you're messing with sear angles. With the hammer cocked back, push forward to make sure it doesn't go forward! If it does you have one dangerous firearm and the sear and trigger need to be reground. Also I've never worked on ANY revolver that had Loctite on the side plate screws. Just tighten them down with a proper screwdriver and they'll stay put.
My M200 did the same seizing upon backing the hammer. And on the same chamber each time too. I simply forced it back when the hammer snagged a few times. The problem solved. Obviously due to the rough parkerized finish on the cylinder/forcing cone.
Send it back for either repair or replace...they have great customer service...Good luck Amigo! great video!...LEEP ON ROCKING IT!....Nelson Gunsmithing......
I was thinking the same thing watching the video. They're chambers. The entire piece with the chambers is the cylinder. I'm relatively new to firearms, so I was confused.
I'm thinking that if you stripped down my Dad's old 1911 that he brought home from WW2 you'd pronounce it to not be an acceptable duty weapon that you could rely on. But it worked ever so much more reliably than his beautifully machined and finished and precisely fitted Luger that he also brought back from the war. And is there any revolver that won't eventually show drag marks on the cylinder or that you can't "short stroke" the trigger?
I trust what your saying because your a smith. But with these being budget out of 5 revolvers you might get 3 ok. Check timing and lock up. Cylinder gap and barrel cant. If shop wont let you ge somewhere else. I looked at 2 and did this and picked the one i wanted. Granted this is only a range gun for me. Not a carry piece for sure
So many people in the comments are emotionally invested in this gun and getting angry at this simple honest teardown. I bought a brand new M206, and it had all the problems he outlined in this video. To their credit, RIA has a great warranty system, and replaced the entire gun with a new one one within 6 weeks of me mailing it out. The new one functions very well 99% of the time, but is definitely still rough around the edges(like you would expect on a 200 dollar gun). But the fit and finish on that first one was truly awful. I have no idea how it made it out the factory. Yes, it is a 200 dollar gun. But that doesn't exempt it from a fair analysis and require that you shut your brain off when it comes to the flaws. And these days the excuses are getting a little thin, when other manufacturers like Taurus have stepped their game up considerably and are offering guns like the 856, which is slightly more expensive but miles ahead in quality. I think that RIA should have made this a 250-300 dollar 38 and spent some extra time on QC.
I look it it this way, this is a question no one asked, of course no one is going to use this as a duty gun, I don't think that question has been ask since 1995. but for what it is, and it's price, it's an acceptable tool
@@NelsonGunsmithing I told ya they were ugly though lol. I cant believe there are people out there who will claim these are on par with Smiths and such. Hell, a Taurus is a massive improvement over these
HiPoint.... One of the most reliable guns ever sold. With a service dept that puts most companies to shame. Ever own one? ...Or are you just another "parrot"?
Yes I bought a Yeet Cannon last year. I can't get more than 3 rounds before a jam. I've tried multiple mags and interwebs mag mod. I bought it because I needed a Yeet Cannon!!! It's a great joke which is all it's good for.
@@hvymax Lifetime warranty. Call them, I'm sure they will fix your issue....with the gun. From your whining.....it sounds like you might have a real "limp wrist" issue too. 🤔😂🤣😂🤣
The design is the same as the old Colt MKIII from the 1970's. If it is made the same way, then there would be no polishing on the bearing surfaces. Those were made from scintered metal with very thin hardening, and couldn't be polished. They were fitted by just grabbing a different piece from the bin and trying that one.
Sir, It's a $270.00 +/- gun. I totally disagree. Before your review did you even bother to take this gun to the range to see how it actually performs. I have watched many reviews on the revolver and your review and comments are definitely in the minority.
In short it does the job and you aren't out $1000 when the cops confiscate it after a self defense shooting. I can't imagine why anyone would consider this one.

And the bolt catch isn't a bolt catch, it's a bolt
