  • The mangrove tree crab eats red mangrove leaves and helps keeps the mangrove estuary clean by eating leaf litter. At high tide, the mangrove tree crab climbs to the tree tops. At low tide, they can be found on the ground. They are small omnivorous crabs and are only about an inch long. Their speed is their defense mechanism, as they can run up to a meter per second. This week, we have Park Naturalist Christine McDade from Anne Kolb Nature Center who will provide a closer look at the mangrove tree crab.
