What they need are some new tough action dudes to pair them off with, since that's actually what they're lacking.
@Cormano980 the storyline never concluded. At the end of RE8 the BSAA was utilizing bioweapons rather then combating them. Hopefully the next game goes further into detail about what lead to their corruption.
I think they will explain it along with Blue Umbrella origins, everything is already set but we need to know what is happening behind the scene and this may be a lot of material for future games
Yeah. I liked how they built up the organization a bit in Revelations and planted the seeds even then that it could be corrupted from the inside due to international politics, and in 8 we saw exactly how that could pan out into something awful. But I think more importantly, we need to see how the world has fundamentally changed due to all the Biohazard nonsense in the RE timeline from 1998 onward. Like, there's zero way a world where medical technology is creating both zombies and first aid sprays and where there's been active Bio-terrorism for decades is "mostly the same" as our own is today. There would be fundamental societal shifts, even if you had organizations like the BSAA or Blue Umbrella trying to police the world of these incidents, and that's not even getting into whatever the aftermath of RE6 was, because the events of that game were nearly apocalyptic. Like half of China was infected and whole American cities were too, and we saw an Eastern European warzone where bioweapons were in active deployment. That incident was utterly global and partially successful on the part of the villains. I just think to the US and how we have permanent fixtures like the TSA and the patriot act after 9/11. In REverse there should be WAY more of a security state at this point, I'd think.

@@mmanzanozr1 Leon is popular because Capcom are pushing him with remakes and cgi movies. When CV and Re5 get a remake, Chris will hopefully take the spotlight from Leon🤞
I wish this game was Leon and Sherry partnering up properly. RE 6 did not do their first onscreen reunion justice. Or maybe have it be another Leon/Ashley game where this time Ashley is more capable. She did say in the RE 4 remake she wanted to be a secret agent like Leon!
I'd like it to be 2 separate campaigns for each character, with their own distinctive tones. Also, exclusive side quests, mini-games, and secrets. Maybe a 3rd campaign in the future, as DLC, with Chris. Let's say around 8-10 hours each if aiming only to complete their stories (double that if aiming to 100% them).

@@Sevatar_VIIIth Might be an option they did this in Village so you never know. I’m fine with either or both offer something of dynamic and horror aspect 7 did this perfectly with its Texas chainsaw massacre vibes.
I guarantee the relationship between Leon and Jill will be stoic and professional with zero flare, per usual for current day Capcom. But the game will still be fun.
I would love a RE game where all the main characters from Chris, Jill, Claire, Leon, Ada, Barry, and Rebecca all team up together. Kinda of like what we saw in that RE Death Island film.
One thing I loved about the molded was like old re games you could read and dodge their attacks. No button press, just slightly shift you character and completely dodge their swing. It felt rewarding for learning patterns. The jack boss fight has a similar thing with an achievement for ducking the insta kill.
If these rumours are true then I’m a little disappointed that Chris won’t be the main character of this game. But oh well. Leon’s cool and it’s been too long since Jill has been the main character in a mainline Resident Evil game.
I hope they will implement the Village DLC's perspective shift, alternating from 1st to 3rd person was really refreshing in multiple gameplays and change of pacing. Playing in 1st person create a lot of immersion in dark and small places, while 3rd is good for the action moments when you have to be quick in shooting and evading enemies.
I for one Drinker, am extremely apprehensive about Capcom right now. While some changes have been expected for the series, their reboots concern me with how the characters act and behave, especially Reboot 4. Minus all the sex jokes being removed, there's a lot of genuinely grinding moments that I absolutely cannot stand, one of and the biggest for me was the Leon vs Ada scene. It's completely butchered and worse in every single way possible, there's no show of strength, skill, intelligence, or athleticism in the entire scene. Leon originally doesn't (and shouldn't) trust Ada and keeps her weapon away from her, even unloading it before tossing it away. He grills her hard about her connection to Wesker and what she's after and she plays coy with him while dropping her sunglasses, which is a trap to later create a flashbang for her to make a getaway from him now that he has the advantage. This simply doesn't happen in the remake and I can't for the life of me understand why, other than the writers are completely hacks and didn't understand the point of the scene, and it's one of the biggest plot points of the *franchise* for Leon's character because up until then, we didn't actually know whether Ada survived Racoon City and were only speculating if it was her because of her red dress that she had during 2. Conveniently in both REmakes 2 and 4 she isn't wearing her iconic red dress and doesn't strike out as the femme fatale that she is. She's just flat and boring now, as well as her interactions and involvement with Leon. There's no spice between them anymore, and no sense their usual cat and mouse shenanigans which, for all its flaws, 6 still built on successfully. All this from ONE scene getting flubbed and I understand it might not mean anything to most people, but still to this day the original Resident Evil 4 is one of my all time favorite games ever. I've played it countlessly time and time again and always found something new either gameplay or narrative wise that I've come to love and appreciate from the game or what impact it had on the series. And I simply couldn't stand the numerous little flaws that drained the soul out of the original, including all the sexual stuff with Ashely. Had that been the only thing removed, no big deal, but when it's coupled with all these other minor flaws, I just wish they didn't touch it and it worries me what Capcom thinks they're doing with their decisions lately, especially concerning how they've been handling Street Fighter 6 and Dead Rising Remake. I just don't trust them to not screw this up, something I didn't know I'd have to worry about since DMC5 but here we are yet again where we don't know if Capcom is gonna give us another banger or vomit sludge again.
To be fair, both Leon and Jill are the most infected playable characters in the REverse alongside Sherry Birkin. Sherry got a dose of G-virus in RE2, Leon got a Plaga in RE4, and Jill got a Nemesis T-Virus infection in RE3 and whatever Wesker had cooked up in RE5. So if they want to make arguments that any of these characters are a bit superhuman and can avoid aging rules, they can. And have in the case of Sherry's appearance in RE6. It's the ones who actually avoided infection like Chris and Claire who have to age up.

The 1st person perspective is pretty cool though; makes it feel much more claustrophobic, especially for the first half of 7 and House Beneviento in Village. I'd recommend playing them, especially now they're dirt cheap.
@@Garviel-Loken Yeah but the game wasn't designed to be played that way and it shows; it doesn't have anywhere near the combat nuance of the over-the-shoulder games.
@alondite215 I disagree with that. With the exception of melee combat, which I always thought was a bit ridiculous in games about creatures you want to stay as far away from as possible, I don't really see a difference. Both 1st and 3rd person offer the ability to aim at body parts and you can run around monsters to aim at other body parts from behind. 4, 5 and 6 truly jumped the shark when it came to melee combat, it's not nuance to make a kick the same comparable strength as a magnum because you shot something in its knee.

One of things that made Resident Evil Vendetta so good was it showed Leon basically sick and tired of all this. And let's not kid ourselves, Leon has carried this franchise as much as Jill has. As a fan of his character, he deserves a break and good retirement.

I like the idea of a Kennedy/Valentine team up. They were the only two player characters to have never canonically even met until literally a year or so ago in a new cg movie.
The thing that always bugs me in sequels is how the regular dude, in this case, Winters, becomes some kind of super legend on the next round. Ethan was just a random bloke in 7 but then in 8 monsters, governments and every talking character talk about and refer to him as though he was this incredibly famous bass ass who even obscure Southern European vampires are Star struck by.
In RE8's case, that was more on that game having dogshit survival horror design and being a power fantasy than Ethan being anything close to Leon or Chris.
The lore for Resident Evil is so unbelievably batSchitt & all over the place... There are games that feel like standalone genre pieces for the most part... then there are incestuous shipper bait dumpster fires that make current year Disney seem subtle.
I know death island wasn’t all that great. But I did like seeing Jill struggle with the guilt of Weskers mind control I hope they maybe explore that a little more. She’ll be at least 50. I’d like to see our hero’s at least come to a place of contentment in their lives. However I do think that if these rumors are true it’s a good step to better quality games.
Maybe if they'll get infected by the Mold, it will regenerate then, so they'll look younger (into their perfect form), but more damage they'll suffer (in cutscenes) or the longer it'll go uncured, the more they're gonna be risking the Mold taking over.
Well, the Bible does call the Roman Catholic Church "Mystery, Babylon the Great, the Mother of all Harlots and Abominations of the Earth". And back in the 1970s, Pastor David Wilkerson prophesied there would one day be nudity in the Church and be seen as a form of worship.
It's even hinted in RE3 that Jill may have an immunity to the virus. She def as some gene/weird stuff going on but I do hope they tie it into the story and give an explanation. Either way, I play ALL RE games so I'm stoked regardless.
His terrible, poorly thought-out one-liners conveyed a lot of personality imo. He's just a dork trying his best. A lot more interesting than infallible action man.

I get the others being cliche action people but Ethan just has no identity at all.
I cannot believe with the sales these remakes have generated, that they haven’t done or announced remakes of either Dino Crisis, RE:1, RE:CV, or Onimusha in the REengine. An Onimusha remake might have to be a different style, but Dino Crisis and RE1/CV would absolutely work perfectly with the RE2/3/4 remake style. Honestly, though, I’d love to see an Onimusha remake in the same style. They could figure out a way to make it work.
I just hope they embrace being a horror franchise. Resident Evil 7 was much scarier than Village, by miles. Prioritising action over horror is what caused the franchise to fall in the first place.

While I adore veteran characters like Jill or Barry as much as the next person, RE never had a clear-cut central protagonist. Chris might be the closest to that idea. As for RE 9 rumors, I'm hopeful for Jill making a return to mainline entry - her possible presence would probably soften the burden of another game with emo Leon.
Ever since I bought the original on release day in 1996..resident evil has been my favourite franchise ever since..i was also 12 at the time...regards from dublin Ireland man love your channel 🇮🇪
I want a RE game where you play as Chris and Claire 😢
Capcom hates Chris. unfortunately.
@@infinitePenguin0 They don't hate him but it's obvious that Leon is much more popular.
@@mmanzanozr1 Leon is popular because Capcom are pushing him with remakes and cgi movies.
When CV and Re5 get a remake, Chris will hopefully take the spotlight from Leon🤞
@@infinitePenguin0 brother Leon is popular because he's the protagonist of the 2 best Resident Evil games. Simple as that.

I wish this game was Leon and Sherry partnering up properly. RE 6 did not do their first onscreen reunion justice. Or maybe have it be another Leon/Ashley game where this time Ashley is more capable. She did say in the RE 4 remake she wanted to be a secret agent like Leon!
As long as it has VR support, I'll happily play as a lump of tofu
It's about time Jill was playable in a main line title.
She's playable in three mainline titles.
@@KrokPanther she will get overshadowed by Leon. Because Capcom only cares about Leon. 🙄
I agree, The best character in the series for me
Please, please:
-Be offline
-Be Third person
-Have mercenaries / Raid mode (Reunion would be amazing)
this is exactly what I want
I'd like it to be 2 separate campaigns for each character, with their own distinctive tones. Also, exclusive side quests, mini-games, and secrets.
Maybe a 3rd campaign in the future, as DLC, with Chris.
Let's say around 8-10 hours each if aiming only to complete their stories (double that if aiming to 100% them).
They're saving Claire and Chris for the Code Veronica Remake :')
They need to give Jill and Ada some kind of deaging serum that keeps them biologically 24 forever.
These IDIOTS at Capcom should never have aged these characters.
WHY would you age these intellectual properties??
These are IPs so many companies would kill for.
Leon and Jill focused plot! Hell yeah take my money!
Should be Chris and Jill. Leon is overused. 🙄
@@infinitePenguin0 I disagree vehemently
@@mmanzanozr1 cool. doesn't change the fact that Leon is overused.
@@infinitePenguin0I like Chris as well but they need to do something besides repeat how jaded and cynical he is and then having him find his motivation again before going back to being jaded for the next game.
@4thSurviver It's a game about fighting bioweapons. As long as he is cool and looks cool, I'm happy.
Leons back flips and suplexes means he will never age.
Hey Gamer, i must say, i hate those rumers. I don´t click at any news that says "rumors". But when i see the Critical Gamer making a Video about those rumors, i have to watch it! Thats how much of a reputation you got for me! Keep gaming you drunken legend!
Ada Wong was supposed to have an appearance in RE Village, but was ultimately cut, so hopefully she will have a part in RE9.
Its so hard to get back to Resident Evil without VR. RE7 in VR broke me in a good way and I can't play anymore without the VR support. I hope they bring it at release so we don't have to rely on mods!
*Looking at the end of RE5* "How the hell is this *grounded*?"
*Glances at RE7 & 8* "By comparison."
you have to turn off the suspension of belief in RE5
what we need is a remake of 5 that feels more grounded. And yes, keep it in Africa, he was shooting at Majini, not people. I still love RE5 though lol
I’m not gonna lie Jill looked way better in RE5.
That's because they changed facial models for 3 REmake and onwards. I miss her old face.
@@redvelvet5374 I don't like the new model. She doesn't have to look like Eve from Stellar Blade but how about making her look like she did on REmake at least? The new one is so overly skinny that I find it hard to believe she can even pull a trigger lol
Resident evil games when good: this is great!
Resident evil games when terrible: i just can’t stay mad at you!
If they continue the FPS route I'm out, I prefer the three remake camera styles.
@@Sevatar_VIIIth Might be an option they did this in Village so you never know. I’m fine with either or both offer something of dynamic and horror aspect 7 did this perfectly with its Texas chainsaw massacre vibes.

yeah, I get that FPS makes it a bit scarier, but RE is more than just a scary game. We already have enough FP scary games, why copy them?
Jill, Leon, Chris, having each seperate playthrough story while having interactions like Claire and Leon in RE2.
Heck yeah.
I guarantee the relationship between Leon and Jill will be stoic and professional with zero flare, per usual for current day Capcom. But the game will still be fun.
Yep.. they ruined ada by making her less flirty and more "buisness". Even changed her iconic lines in RE4. 🙄
@@coreymckee4844 Yup, just as they also took Leon "Ladies Man" Kennedy out back and shot him.
I would love a RE game where all the main characters from Chris, Jill, Claire, Leon, Ada, Barry, and Rebecca all team up together. Kinda of like what we saw in that RE Death Island film.
I feel like the series hasn't been right since Wesker snuffed it.
You missed out.
Because RE5 is where the main story for RE ended. Everything after has been bonus chapters essentially.
I love the voice matchup right at the end. The Critical Drinkerette. =P
8 was not a horror game, 7 was.
8 still had horror elements wouldn't you say? Perhaps it wasn't scary enough though.
That's basically only RE3, isn't it? In RE1 she was the easy mode.
ye what happened about that plotline with Chris and his squad dealing with a corrupterd BSAA?
Capcom hate Chris. It's obvious.
@@mattmark94if jill is still working with the BSAA as the leak is stating that means they have to address the BSAA situation

At this point jill should be Grandma now.
It's because of the T-virus she doesn't age as normal people. She was infected in RE3

Resident evil 9: Asmongolds house
What about the rumours of the Code: Veronica remake? As someone thoroughly enjoying the REmakes right now, that's what I want to see.
2:20 that joke was wild man 😆
I hope they will implement the Village DLC's perspective shift, alternating from 1st to 3rd person was really refreshing in multiple gameplays and change of pacing. Playing in 1st person create a lot of immersion in dark and small places, while 3rd is good for the action moments when you have to be quick in shooting and evading enemies.
Bring back an older version of normal Jill...the one from REmake!!!
You forgot to mention to also stock up on whiskey too.
Well it’ll be trash if they use the emo girl boss Jill character model…
Bring back 1990’s Jill or I’d even take early 2000 Jill lol just don’t give me RE 3 remake Jill or whatever that was in the Netflix death island version

@@themightydenis loved how 7 and 8 brought down the scale of the story and games overall to something more streamlined. Capcom really needed that shake up after throwing everything and the kitchen sink on RE6 which had ideas for at least two separate games if played right.

8 is ok but rips off RE4 way too much. 7 is one of the best
Dude, if this game doesn’t include anything regarding Ethan Winters or the family in general, I’m buying it day one.

I skipped RE 7 and 8 due to being first person only perspective. Hopefully RE 9 will go back to 3rd person. If not, then I'll just have to wait until the RE 5 remake.
You can play 8 in 3rd person now.
@alondite215 I disagree with that.

Jill, carrying this franchise as much as Leon? Are you high?
@TheCyclicGamer I mean I did say the reverse. But when many people, especially those who have played from the beginning, when you think of Resident Evil, Jill is usually the first one who comes to mind.

Resident evil cant abandon the core characters while still advancing time. They have to either fill in the gaps or reboot the series and start a new story with these same characters, im not sure which one would be the right direction.
They already have abandoned them by reimagining them into a bunch of Dontes from DmC.

Old Leon : " where's everyone going , Bingo?... I'll get my dabber"
@TheCyclicGamer they really can't seem to find their footing with the franchise. They keep shifting the themes and structures.
It's explicitly stated in Death Island that Jill no longer visibly ages as a side effect of the T-Virus cure.

The lore for Resident Evil is so unbelievably batSchitt & all over the place...
There are games that feel like standalone genre pieces for the most part... then there are incestuous shipper bait dumpster fires that make current year Disney seem subtle.
As a long time fan, I pick and choose the lore to suit myself 😂
As a new time fan (3-ish years) I chose to follow the remake lore for the most part
Wait till you get into Resident Evil Gaiden where Leon Dies.
If Jill doesnt look like she does in the RE3 Remake then WE FCKING RIOT MATE
Maybe if they'll get infected by the Mold, it will regenerate then, so they'll look younger (into their perfect form), but more damage they'll suffer (in cutscenes) or the longer it'll go uncured, the more they're gonna be risking the Mold taking over.

Yeah, the Ethan Winter story was great in RE7, a bit unnecessary for RE8, and now I don't want to be about him again in RE9.
Honestly, Ethan should have been a one and done protagonist and then become a supporting character.
It's even hinted in RE3 that Jill may have an immunity to the virus. She def as some gene/weird stuff going on but I do hope they tie it into the story and give an explanation.
Either way, I play ALL RE games so I'm stoked regardless.

Bro, Ethan's poor maimed hands have more screentime and character than he does. He's a one-note silent protag that they forgot to make fully silent.
His terrible, poorly thought-out one-liners conveyed a lot of personality imo. He's just a dork trying his best. A lot more interesting than infallible action man.
@@tyclips4155 I get if you like that as a matter of personal preference, but it is a bold claim to say he has more personality when he's 80% audience insert/silent protag, 10% bad jokes/lines/plot decisions and then 10% exposition machine.
Personally I enjoyed conclusion to Ethan's story a great deal, thank you very much, his journey to save his loved ones brought at least bit of human element, and we didn't have much of that since Claire. I just can't help but feel that Capcom shoves him in too many projects, not to mention he was most entertaining as a rookie cop anyways.
