Hey Bob. I've already commentated on this rendition some time ago but having come back here and listened to this again, it totally bewilders me how two very young ladies can produce such a majestic sound. If music could be compered to paradise, then this is it!!!!
Indeed! The contrast between Martha's angelic crystal soprano and Lucy's rich vibrant tones set up a beautiful frisson that songs like this highlight. The time-window is very short and I would hope a member of Lucy's team is searching through the catalogues where this dynamic can be replicated to best effect. Already, here, Martha is reaching as deep as Lucy and it seems it may become a 'natural' register for her. I do hope they remain distinct in the manner of Don and Phil of 'The Everly's' and perhaps be inspired to cover at least one of their many hits.
I think The Andrews Sisters are a perfect example of what you were talking about with those sibling harmonies. Absolutely got to check out their recent Christmas song, Mary Did You know. Because now Martha is 14 I think and Lucy is 19 I think. It's amazing to see the progression and of course what the attempt is even more ambitious. It's such a delight.
Love the shake of the head in just shear disbelief. Your 100% right. Best version of the song ever. No one can hold a vibrato like Lucy and she blows this song out of the water with ease. But man is Martha maturing, although still only 13, she is amazing too and can stay in the song with the best pipes in the world and even compliments it.
They are both amazing voice. There duet's is perfectly awesome and beautifully tone quality. Martha voice is amazing. This is perfect duet's synchronization together. Thank you for watching these two wonderful singers on your channel!
You are right. This was as good as it gets. They are exceptional. This is the standard by which all artists should reach. Pure! Hands down my favorite version of this song.
Same here, Sir. This is my favorite version of the song, if not my most favorite. And it touches me a lot to hear people say that too. Thank you so much for your reaction. God bless you…😊😊😊
Great reaction. I listened to this non stop for days weeks etc. I always loved The Prayer. I thought Andrea and Celine sang it to perfection but these girls take it to another level...angelic..these girls are special. ❤️
First I have to agree with you that Lucy get to this level of talent by hard work. She was born with a nice voice but not an exceptional one, like some others you know... She worked hard since she was 7. And now we can enjoy her talent and stunning voice🥰🥰 About this video in particular , I have to confess , after discovering it, i listened to it for almost 24 hours non stop. First time such thing happened to me. Lucy and Martha performance is more sincere, more heartfull, more angelic than Celine and Andrea. For these big stars , it was another song to sing ( i saw the studio version of them ..i felt the lack of genuine emotion, only technics) About the Thomas sisters duets you can look at an older , very good, video : you raise me up. Martha was younger but the emotion is there too. You spoke about angels....if you read the comments in her channel," angel" is the word which is the most frequent.🥰🥰🥰🥰
I believe. Angel popped in my head pretty quick. LOL on the 24 hours! I replayed this SO MANY TIMES after I recorded it. I even had ti playing while I was producing the video. Just had to hear it again. Ha. Thanks for the listen.
Lucy Thomas's videos are like a drug for the ears and eyes. Absolutely addicting but in a healthy way. I have gone on Lucy binges especially when I need a lift. Some of her music brings tears to the eyes, that is part of being human. After that, her music is very inspirational and it lifts a person up. Consider me 'Hooked' on Lucy.
The sisters are amazing together if you ever happen to see there blooper real it's hilarious it took at least 3 cracks at it cause Martha kept making Lucy crack up laughing you have to love little sisters
Absolutely amazing but I had wondered how many takes it took. Can you please post the link to the blooper reel as it would make them even more human and it must be great fun! Many thanks
Hi Barbara. I've only heard three songs from Lucy, and they just keep getting better and better. Glad you liked her. I'll definitely be reacting to more from her. Thanks for the listen.
Glad you have discovered her! I did three years ago, and haven't regretted one second. You should subscribe to Lucy's channel. She has covered a ton of classic songs! Several are duets with Martha. This young lady is not only beautiful outwardly but beautiful inwardly as well. An outstanding character, great wholesome values, a loving heart, and a sweet, humble spirit.
I forgot to congratulate you on the 10 k subscribers👏👏👏 looks you found a public liking your reaction. About Lucy thanking you , she is doing it a lot because she is as beautifull inside than out.🥰🥰
I saw an Italian viewer comment on this performance on TH-cam some time ago and he was extremely complimentary about the pronunciation of the Italian lyrics by Lucy and Martha. I’m not surprised, these young ladies are talented and passionate about everything they do. They are wonderful. They are magical. They are angelic.
Listening to the younger girl Martha in perfect Italian on her own is almost spiritual and extremely moving. Of course both are awesome - it's just Martha has something very special about her here almost musically Merged with Lucy. One of YTs greatest duets by anyone. Once you have heard this sublime version there is no looking elsewhere. Every time I come back and listen I am equally Overwhelmed and wish to write more praise. You want everyone to realize just how beautiful this is.
Bob, thank you for taking time to produce a video review of Lucy and Martha's Duet of The Prayer. I just subscribed so guess that makes me # 10,000 plus 1. Love the backdrop and your presentation style. The Thomas Sisters have performed several other Duets earlier and one later (The Climb - Miley Cyrus). All of them are beautifully done. Their rendition of The Prayer is a great example of their perfect harmonizing. They match each other in tone, volume, even vibrato. What makes this truly remarkable is they do it with just 1 mic. It's easy to create great harmonies in the studio or on stage with separate mics. Their sound engineers love them, as they make the post production so easy. Bob, you have a good eye and ear. It's true, siblings share genetics in more ways than eyes or hair. Vocal cords, facial bony structure, tongue, mouth cavity, lips, and more all produce and affect sound. They are perfect matches for more than just organ transplants. Their harmonizing with both a developing voice and a more mature and more powerful voice adds up to magic for our ears. So many great things in store for the Thomas Sisters. Listening to them is almost a religious experience. Lucy has so much control of her vocals, Martha has found her voice too. It's not hard to imagine how Martha will sound when she is Lucy's age now. They just get better every time. We all wonder when Martha will release her first solo. She is ready and so are we. I am so happy you have Lucy Thomas and now Martha Thomas on your radar. They never disappoint. PS: I loved the 70's and 80's. We had great music, great TV, and great Radio. All those albums on your wall mean something to me as I listened to all of them. Music has always been an important part of my life. I have over a decade of singing and acting. I even debuted in mid 80's with several Rock Groups in Seattle. Today, I watch new talent on TH-cam. Lucy Thomas is the real deal. I have never in my career seen or heard any artist come close to her perfect performances. The truly amazing thing is she improves with each new song. I always wondered when she will plateau, finally realized she is not even close to peak yet. She grows better and better every next song.
@@ModernLifeForThe70sMind Have you reacted to her (Lucy's) rendition of "Hallelujah" yet ? It is beautiful 🙂 Link : th-cam.com/video/4hjgkvuKES8/w-d-xo.html
I watched this and your other reaction accounts when you posted, and I added this and others to my critic playlist. I’ve returned to listen again and now knowing a lot more your words and opinion have more value. I agree with you honest thoughts and genuine comments. I can see why Lucy thanked you. 👍 Of course there is very much more unsaid to this performance as it seriously deserves an award. 🏆 But time is limited. 👍
Love this so much with both of them. Such love and support between the two of them. Thank you for sharing it today. Perfect! Ah shucks, I thought you'd say the Lennon Sisters. You've got to remember them -Diane, Peggy, Kathy, Janet - ring a bell? They had perfect harmonies also. Lifetime ago.
LOL, I actually do know the Lennon Sisters, although I could not mention the name. Do you remember Joni James? She was my dad's favorite. I may do a reaction on her, just in honor of my dad. Do you know her? Any recommendations on that?
@@ModernLifeForThe70sMind I don't remember Joni James; i'll look her up. I started listening to the Lennon Sisters on the Lawrence Welk Show when I was 3-4. Then when I was in Jr. High, my best friend was Peggy, had sisters named Kathy and Diane. I thought of the Lennon sisters when you, Bob, were trying to remember a girl sister group. I had their paper dolls when I was young and also watched on Lawrence Welk. My favorite was Janet! The only Isleys that I know of were the Isley Brothers in the 70's .
Thank you Bob, what a great reaction to a great song performed unbelievably well. Looking forward to more of your reactions to Lucy’s solos and Lucy and Martha’s duets. Congratulations on your 10k, well done. You are right about Lucy re: her replying to you, this says a lot about the Thomas family, thankful and humble people, and to see this openly displayed in a young talented artist like Lucy is just so refreshing. Thanks again Bob. 😊🙏❤️
Thanks. Never thought I would be at 10,000. Pretty cool for some old dude. LOL No worries, I'll be doing many more reactions on both of them. How can I not? She's that good.
This is probably the best of their duets so far, but the others are good too! There are some where Martha is much younger and not so confident, but she has improved immensely this last year. Together they are just fantastic. You should try their version of “The Climb” which is their latest. 🇬🇧
Congratulations on hitting 10,000. When this was done Lucy was 16 and Martha was 11. That fact makes this even more amazing because they are so amazing
Completely agree your comments - some vocal coaches have reacted to Lucy and many are saying should fill voids with wooooos and more vocal gymnastics - No - Lucy performs above all these without effort and needing to do that. This is where unfortunately it comes from. Lucy is the best and so Inspired by her voice I bought 4 CDs (hers) and a portable player. Not had CDs for years. Uninterrupted perfect performance whenever I want it.
Congratulations on the 10k, as Anthony L has said in one of the comments give their Duet of You raise me up a listen also their latest duet of The Climb is good. One solo you might want to watch is An Aerosmith cover from Lucy of I don't want to miss a thing. Enjoy. Along with Anthony I try to get Lucy as much coverage with reactors as possible to try and promote her talent.
Bob, this ones over a year old now but it popped up on my home page again. You were telling how you were amazed at reaching10k subscribers. I reiterate that it's your friendly personality and commentary. It is as if we're neighbors taking a break from yard work and chatting about a song we just heard. Warm and friendly. But, since you are a little older, as I am, I see you have the same slow recall as I do. I know that I have a factoid in my brain but cannot remember it. Then, after moving on, and some delay, the answer pops into my conscious. I've said to my family that I know the answers on Jeopardy but I would not be able to beat the buzzer due to slow recall. I's no fun being as far over the hill as I am. On the reaction, as usual I heard WOW! as-well-as you just shaking you heard at Lucy's talent.
Merry Xmas to you and all your supporters, family and friends, and thank you for your continued support of Lucy and Martha, your reactions have brought us much joy ❤
Bob, very glad that you finally got to listen to Martha and Lucy. This dynamic duo are super, super special. They have only done a few duets over a couple of years but each one gets better. Their most recent one was filmed on a farm and it is a stunning presentation. Plus Martha is now taller than Lucy. PS For another fantastic pair of sisters who cover different music (a lot of 60s covers, particularly the Beatles) as well as their own songs, check this out - Austrian sisters the MonaLisa Twins (now living in Liverpool) with "Mr Postman/ Wipeout" live from the legendary Cavern Club (th-cam.com/video/bZZsg1JJ6Ws/w-d-xo.html). I hope you can find the time to watch and enjoy it.
Lucy is actually very busy with the production of a new musical: Rosie. Hopefully, beginning of next year there will the Première. The musical is done by Chris Broom. It is based on the true life of Rosie Boote, a young, poor Irish girl , marrying , against all odds, a powerful english Lord. Lucy will be Rosie. 3 songs from the musical were already published: Starligts Suddenly Gentle breeze. Take a look at these when you will find time. They are very good🥰👍
@@ModernLifeForThe70sMind , speaking of Lucy's production of the play "Rosie," she has just dropped a mesmerizing video of her singing "Broken Dreams," which will be one of the songs in the production! I believe she and Chris Broom co-authored the song. She and the song both are so beautiful, the lyrics, story, and meaningfulness of it are so relatable. Hope you'll react to it soon!
Bob, Lucy and Martha have several duets but here's a pointer to one that really shows how their voices meld together " th-cam.com/video/rNvbGLhB91M/w-d-xo.html ". The song is 'Say Something'. The duet has perfect harmony, it's totally balanced (neither stepping on the other), and their voices blend as you commented about siblings singing together. Give it a look and listen. The smoothness, depth, and silkiness of Lucy's voice really shows in the into and conclusion.
Congrats on the 10,000. If you keep playing content like this it will be 100k soon. I also think this is the best version of this song. The sibling harmonies, the love between the two, and the emotion they put into this performance tears me every time I hear it. Some tough guy right. Great reaction as usual. Pentatonix does my second favorite cover, the wall of sound and harmony is top of the line. I,m adding a link to a Lucy video at age 9, it's not on her site and a little hard to find. She was talented at birth I think. Enjoy th-cam.com/video/2omx_rARBw4/w-d-xo.html
Thought I'd let you know I went down the hard kiss rabbit hole for a few hours. They have quite a few songs in English. You might want to check them out. Peace✌️
I think Martha may have the better voice eventually just going on what's been released so far, no criticism of Lucy's voice intended it's just my feeling
Hi Bob, you analyzed the voices very well. Lucy's voice sounds a little fuller. Martha is the younger sister, so her voice can't be that developed yet. But she still has a really nice voice. And together they complement each other really well. Many singers try the song The Prayer. It's very well known. But you need a very good voice to make it sound really good. And the two sisters sing it effortlessly. There is a very impressive version of this song: - Marcelito Pomoy - The Prayer LIVE on Wish 107.5 - th-cam.com/video/x462Hia_7hU/w-d-xo.html I recommend you another young singer: - Amira Willighagen "O Sole Mio" (ENGLISH SUBTITLES) - th-cam.com/video/_v9D7AAyMV0/w-d-xo.html And while I'm at it: - Sissel Kyrkjebø - Solveigs Song - th-cam.com/video/OMO-E4dSuoE/w-d-xo.html I congratulate you on the 10,000 subscribers. Keep going the same way. This is the right way. Greetings from Germany
Hey Olaf! Always good to hear from you. Thanks for the recommendations. I'll definitely check them out..... Still can't believe that I hit that number. Ha
@@anthonyl.6879 Hi Anthony! Yes, I understand the difference, but as with most aspects of this life, in music there can only be one "Number One!" i.e. "Best" version of all time. With "The Prayer", the best version happens to be an acapella group, not a duet. In the end...they are both fabulous so we are quibbling. Shame on us! Be well, Duke :)

I agree with everything you said. I have a mountain of music to listen to but now I only want to listen to the Thomas sisters
Lucy, released a new original song.
Broken dreams
From the forthcoming musical : Rosie
I am sure you will enjoy🥰🥰🥰👍👍👍
Hi Anthony. Yep, I heard about that. Thinking that may be the next one of hers.
@@ModernLifeForThe70sMind still waiting..... 🧐🧐🧐🧐
She has been with the same coach since age seven😮
Check out Lucy's version of My Heart Will Go On. It's amazing
3 songs from the musical were already published:
Starligts
Suddenly
Gentle breeze.
Take a look at these when you will find time. They are very good🥰👍
Interesting!! I'll definitely check that out. Thanks.
Amen to your comment on newer garbage music. 100% agree
Hey Jeff. Thanks! Appreciate it. I'm definitely gonna check out that link. I appreciate you bringing it to my attention. Thanks.
Try the new song, Broken Dreams.
Check out David Phelps, O Holy Night. Hold on to your chair!!!
Thought I'd let you know I went down the hard kiss rabbit hole for a few hours. They have quite a few songs in English. You might want to check them out. Peace✌️
Hey Kevin. I'm hoping they where as good as this one, because after hearing this, my hopes are high! LOL Thanks for the listen.
I have a great Lucy Thomas song that you may like to react to " Wind beneath my Wings " originally by Bette Midler
GIVE FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND A LOOK FROM LUCY
Think they have any future??
I think Martha may have the better voice eventually just going on what's been released so far, no criticism of Lucy's voice intended it's just my feeling
Hi Bob, you analyzed the voices very well. Lucy's voice sounds a little fuller. Martha is the younger sister, so her voice can't be that developed yet. But she still has a really nice voice. And together they complement each other really well. Many singers try the song The Prayer. It's very well known. But you need a very good voice to make it sound really good. And the two sisters sing it effortlessly.
There is a very impressive version of this song:
- Marcelito Pomoy - The Prayer LIVE on Wish 107.5 - th-cam.com/video/x462Hia_7hU/w-d-xo.html
I recommend you another young singer:
- Amira Willighagen "O Sole Mio" (ENGLISH SUBTITLES) - th-cam.com/video/_v9D7AAyMV0/w-d-xo.html
And while I'm at it:
- Sissel Kyrkjebø - Solveigs Song - th-cam.com/video/OMO-E4dSuoE/w-d-xo.html
I congratulate you on the 10,000 subscribers. Keep going the same way. This is the right way.
Greetings from Germany
Hey Olaf! Always good to hear from you. Thanks for the recommendations. I'll definitely check them out..... Still can't believe that I hit that number. Ha
Close to number one but...no. I enjoy these girls version, and their talent, but the cover of this song by PENTATONIX is number one. IMHO :)
Pentatonix is a Acapella group , you cannot compare.
I get it. There's always gonna be one that you enjoy the most. PTX is amazing, so I can see why you would like that. For me, this just seems so credible and sincere. That puts it on top for me. No disrespect to PTX though. They're amazing. Thanks so much for the listen. I really appreciate it.
@@ModernLifeForThe70sMind agreed with you. Music is completely subjective.
PTX , Celine and Andrea are experienced singers, they sing the song as best as they can do. They are, indeed, stunning.
But these two young Ladies , on top of singing exceptionally, are shining an "aura" of genuine sincerity and tenderness.
This is not subjective, is a fact 👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏🥰🥰🥰
No words, just angels!!
Yes and yes.
