    Thank you Ryan Coogler. You have not only honored the Rocky franchise, but you have erased the sin of Fantastic Four clean off Michael B. Jordan's slate.

    I'm so excited for Ryan Coogler and his carreer. This is only his SECOND Hollywood film, and there are already rumors that Marvel has their eyes on him for Black Panther. And considering how good this movie is being reviewed, *OMG* Godspeed Coogler.

      +NoName That's even better. Because it shows Hollywood that he's capable of handling something small, intimate and relatively unknown by the masses as well as handling something that's a well-beloved property that everyone knows. It also shows them that he's a filmmaker with incredible range and can do just about any genre.

      What's surprises me is that Coogler is young af. He only turned 29 this year. Dude's not even born yet when the first Rocky movie came out.
      Talk about bright future and career.

    one of the things people (including the reviewer) haven't touched on is the pre-fight atmosphere and tension. I'm an athlete myself and we all get the pregame jitters, but it's something that's hard to portray. this movie had my adrenaline going during those anticipation scenes. the distant crowd noise, the nervous shakiness of the actors speech and the faraway look in their eyes is perfectly captured. little things like that is what makes this movie absolutely amazing.

      +Mine MLG Empire strikes back is a definite yes but that film is old and perfect. When I say never been done before, I am referring to a release since the inception of the big 3. Stuckmann was the last of the 3 to join in so any film after 2011 has never received a perfect score from all 3 mega critic sources.

    I almost cried when they diagnosed Rocky with cancer and he denied the treatment. I was like "this is really happening, Rocky Balboa is going to die". At the end they managed to both fight as well, Creed on his boxing challenge and Rocky with his cancer treatment. Great movie, cleans up the "meh" memories I have from Rocky 6.

    • @MrDamakoEndurance
      @MrDamakoEndurance 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      So did I and for the past three years I kept telling myself that if Creed 2 begins with Rocky having passed away I would breakdown crying in the theatre. Fortunately Creed 2 is coming out in 2 weeks alll the previews are showing him alive and well.

    • @sentrylevel
      @sentrylevel 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      My father did the same thing. He was told with the cancer treatment he would last half a year and with out it he would have a few months. With out it he is still alive going on 4 years. Im sure he may feel like he is on death row but hell he is still in our lives. I haven't even seen this movie yet but Im hesitant because I know im gonna cry like a baby in front of my girlfriend yet again lol. W.E fuck it . Renting this on Vudu tonight. Cheers. and stay strong

      Aero Windwalker The story sucked shit through a straw.

    • @aerowindwalker
      @aerowindwalker 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Christopher Briscoe That's really graphic. Why would you say that?

    • @christopherbriscoe3308
      @christopherbriscoe3308 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aero Windwalker Because nothing about it rang true. It was arrogant from the beginning in it's lack of respect for the process of success. In the original movie, Rocky had not succeeded immediately. He had suffered through a life of disappointment, but when he was offered an opportunity for success, he drove himself to at least be able to face it and survive. Rocky wasn't exceptional, he respected the honor that was being bestowed On him to face the champion, and he prepared himself. He didn't expect to beat the champ, but he had a level of success through courage and determination. This movie has none of that. We have a young man who goes from being alright to phenomenal in no time. He is almost immediately offered a shot even though he might as well be unranked, and has hardly any known boxing experience. He doesn't have to earn a reputation, he is immediately treated as if he's valuable, and it shows because he acts like an arrogant asshole. There are scenes that ghetto stereotyping garbage, like the scene where there are black guys following him through the streets on four wheelers, as if urban men's lives are like a Ja-Rule video.

    • @aerowindwalker
      @aerowindwalker 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Christopher Briscoe Actually those are fairly good points. Huh, okay, I will downrate it to 8/10.

    there were a few really long takes in this film...i think the most impressive was the shot before his final fight. from rocky's pep talk, the warm up in the locker room, the walk to the ring, and rocky's final words of encouragement before the fight.....all one shot...beautiful

    One thing I didn’t like about the movie was how people would change their minds so quickly. So rocky didn’t want to go through the cancer treatment because his wife went through it and still passed away which would be a huge mental block for him. But his mind got changed in the space of 10 seconds by Adonis saying if he fights so does rocky. The film had so much to touch up on it could have been a series rather than a movie.

    Chris, idk whats coming to the arthouse theaters near you, but The World of Kanako, Son of Saul, Macbeth, 45 Years, Youth, Joy, The Revenant, The Hateful Eight and Anamolisa are all releasing before the end of the year, the first few i mentioned releasing within the next 2-3 weeks. Now i know you probably won't see some of those save for possibly Macbeth, Revenant, Joy and Hateful Eight, but would really like to see you review some international films before the year is out.

    Creed - 4.5/5
    Rocky Balboa - 4.5/5
    Rocky III - 3.5/5

    • @chronocross85
      @chronocross85 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yea they mentioned his son in the movie. He moved out of Philly because the pressure of being "Rocky's son" was too much so he started a new life in Connecticut. There was a scene while they were mentioning his son but it showed a picture of Stallone and his real son that died, it was like a behind the scenes pic from Rocky movie.. I thought that was pretty cool.

    I feel like this is the year of Chris nit-picking movies. He has given so many movies just an 'A' rating when then deserve an 'A+'
    Honestly, Inside Out and The Martian are 'A+' movies.
    I could nit-pick Fury Road till the point that it's down to an 'A' but I'm not going to because it was so enjoyable.

    • @TheGermandude2

      that's literally what criticism Is tho, a film could be a 5/10, but that doesn't make it not entertaining and nobody would make that claim. implying because something is entertaining further analysis should be swept aside is moronic to be quite honest. I think Chris is ridiculously lenient especially with films like inside out and mad max fury road, seeing as how those films don't excel in any way yet received rave reviews.
