    I love this, they dont make a mockery of Graham, they dont try to erase the Queen’s faith, and they dont try to hide her struggles.

    It is such a beautiful scene! I said this in the other video but he is so gentle and kind to her and I so love that! He doesnt judge her or condemn her or berate her but he sees she is truly hurting...and he meets her where she is and does so in such a loving and accepting way.

      Well scripted, beautifully crafted and well acted, but probably has no relation to reality. While the Queen and Graham were reported to be friends, would she be likely to seek spiritual guidance from him, instead of her own bishops?
      I did like the character's guidance though - I couldn't imagine a better answer.

    I’m a minister myself, and even I struggle to forgive people who’ve wronged me. I remember God pressing on my heart to forgive a guy who disrespected me and my calling into the ministry, and he did it all intentionally and with no true regard to seek my forgiveness. It had already been two years since I severed ties with him, and I still would get frustrated and want to avoid him each time I saw him. Then I realized that I was allowing this person and what they did to me to not only hinder my relationship with them, but it was hindering my intimacy with God as well. In that particular situation, I was not willing to extent the same grace God showed me in His Son Jesus. Eventually, God softened my heart to finally be willing to forgive him, despite the fact he wasn’t asking for it. I went to him the next time I saw him and told him that I finally decided to forgive him for what he did to me. Get this, he told me, “I totally forgot that, and didn’t know you still held that against me.” I told him, “Well now I hold nothing against you.” Forgiveness is ultimately about letting go of that which will drag you down.

      What makes this such a beautiful scene is that queen Elizabeth really loved her father and he was harshly throw into this position without much practice. She is still hurting over this! Queen Elizabeth may have struggled with this because she was looking at this the wrong way. She should have viewed this as a blessing in disguise. Maybe God saw that her uncle was messing up too much and she and her father both found favor with God for being the reliable, dependable ones in the family. Princess Margaret once said " for all the mistakes in this family not everything can be blamed on the abdication". And Margaret was correct. Queen Elizabeth was human and she was angry and hurt but she had to accept eventually and when she finally did she took her "career " to heart. Good for her!!

      @@bombshellmusical9566 Yes. And the Queen has not only reason to resent Edward for what could possibly have happened to her and her family. She is portrayed as really struggling to understand why he would have put the British people at risk. The Queen did her part in the war and that would have hurt her deeply.

    One of the best sermons I ever heard was that Christians are required to forgive, butthey are not required to forget. One can forgive the wrong done to you, and those that did the wrong, but you need NOT give the wrong doer an opportunity to wrong you again.

    You know, Graham likely didn’t get a 1 on 1 moment with the Queen like this. He had a personal rule that he would not be alone in a room with a woman who wasn’t his wife, if he could not have an additional person in the room. In an age where you have countless people not safeguarding themselves from accusation or temptation, that is why we still cannot find any dirt on Graham. He was committed to the Lord and to his marriage.

    he example of Jesus is difficult to match - in his divine love and wisdom he was able to forgive the sins of the whole world on the cross. “Forgive them, for they know not what they do.” It is difficult for us to forgive when we have been betrayed, hurt or mistreated. And forgiving is doubly difficult when we are not even asked to do so because the perpetrator obviously doesn't even feel guilty. And is it even up to us to forgive when the actions do not affect us, but others or an entire country or kingdom? No wonder even a queen has trouble with it.
    For Elizabeth, this is about her infamous uncle, Edward VIII, who was not the least bit ashamed of his good contacts with the Nazis, his poisonous contempt for his brother and his family, or anything else. And of course all of this will only become public later after his death, so as not to embarrass the government or the royal family. Edward VIII was by no means the only one from the British nobility or from British politics who had sympathies for Nazi Germany.
    It is possible that Elizabeth actually forgave him in the end, as the last encounter with the sick Duke of Windsor in season 3 suggests as much. I'm not so sure about Elizabeth the Queen Mother.
    Let us hope and pray that with God's grace we will be given enough time and insight to ask others for forgiveness and to be able to forgive ourselves.

      Her Uncle David (Ex King Edward VIII who abdicated to marry Wallis Simpson) because she found out that he had visited Hitler with Wallace and the Nazi promised that he would be reinstated as King, thus dethroning her father, who had been forced to become king, so he helped them to try and win the war. He gave the Nazi the heads up that their plans had been found giving them time to change them. He told them to bomb London more to the point that that would make them ready for peace. Wallace passed on secrets from the boxes to a Nazi, etc... It was an infamous betrayal of not only his family, but the country and his oath to god. It would have meant the annihilation of her, her father, mother and sister and it would have been the end the 1000 years of the kingdom if he would have suceeded.

    This is one of the more distasteful aspects of Christianity. The mandate to forgive people unconditionally is not only not human, it's not right. There are people in this world who simply are not worthy of forgiveness, and anyone who thinks otherwise hasn't seen them yet.
    Forgiveness is only meaningful because it follows remorse and contrition. If forgiveness is given unconditionally, then it means nothing. And it's immoral to treat it that way. Aside from the fact that not all people deserve forgiveness, forgiveness is not something that should be unconditionally expected from victims. The way Christianity teaches about forgiveness, it's more about bottling up your true feelings and covering your hatred with a thin disingenuous veneer of self-righteous phony compassion, which is honestly far more off-putting than simply hating someone. Obligating forgiveness is a scummy thing to teach.

    • @rebeccablackburn9487
      @rebeccablackburn9487 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Actually forgiveness is about dealing with your feelings and moving on- not bottling them up. Forgiveness is more for the person giving it, not the one getting it. If you can't forgive someone- how can you expect to be forgiven? That's how the world works. Even if you're not a christian, how would it be to live life day in/ day out with all your mistakes following you around, people holding grudges over you, never letting anything go? Or vice versa? It would be miserable.
