Tbh, the late 90s and early 00s was a good time for NY sports. Yankees were the best team in the Mlb, and the Knicks and Giants both made their championship games.
I remember the 20 years of suck before Parcells. We had a nice stretch during the prime Simms and Manning years. Last six have not been good. Time to get back to it.
It helps when the front office builds a roster with at least SOME players on it. At least the dark age 1994-1998 era had a defense. At least 2009-2011 had some offensive players. This is the perrennial worst roster I've ever seen the past 4 years at least. It's like Jarrod Bunch/Cedric Jones draft picks with every single player
@@NatTurnergrandsonChrisdorner He did have that perfect game against the Vikings in the playoffs. Unfortunately, it didn't carry over to the Super Bowl!

First of all Collins threw one of the prettiest balls I've ever seen. Talk about bad timing? If they would have stuck with Collins and waited on Eli they would have saved themselves a lot of money and headaches. He easily would have thrown for over 50,000. Some of you stat guys should know he almost did. Hall of Fame talent. Between his own demons and the mistakes of GMS he might have been in the conversation.
@@iamhungey12345 he made a great business move going to Oakland, Al Davis for some reason threw big money at him to be the #2 while Rich Gannon was only 1-2 years removed from an MVP year (which was ruined by the opposing coach in the super bowl having a cheat sheet to the whole offense). Made a good stack of money in Oakland (plus NorCal is primo real estate), but it was a horible career move. He woulda been better off swallowing pride and staying with the Giants one more year with a team that was actually on the ups, then having his pick of teams that had good defenses and only a QB away from playoff success (Bears, Ravens, TB) Also, that Giants team was actually close to being a playoff team in 2004. Hilliard and Shockey were mostly healthy all year, Toomer had a nagging hamstring but was still pretty good, the oline was quite good at the beginning of the year but after injuries had Petitgout, Whittle, O'Hara, someone else and Diehl finishing the year, which actually isn't bad. Backfield had Barber and alternate Barber, Mike Cloud. Offensively they were really quite stable and was mostly hampered by Eli being thrown against the best defenses in the AFC and NFC in his starts, and by Kurt Warner fumbling snaps and taking sacks because he thought he could hold onto the ball forever like with the Rams. If by some turn of fate Strahan doesn't tear his pectoral and one other key player doesn't get hurt on defense, that's still a pretty good team and I think Collins would manage turnovers and scoring better than Warner and Eli did being on the team/NFL with those players for the first time. Yardage wise the Giants offense was great in 2003, they just had constant retarded penalties and turnovers in the redzone.
@@NYG5 Indeed, plus maybe Eli would have been better prepared had Collins stay for one more year. Not sure if things would be any different between him and Warner though as far as the team success goes in 2004.
@@iamhungey12345 In reality the team should have just started Eli week one, that was the biggest blunder because the first half of the season was easy, the back half had all the top defenses in the NFL. That said I enjoyed seeing Warner here, he was an outstanding teammate and sportsman and it was cool that it began his comeback in the NFL.
@@NYG5 Who knows how they could have gone, what can be said after Warner struggled in the last two games he started before being replaced, you get the feeling Eli wasn't ready even though he did started to show flashes of promise later on like that Steelers game.

The year 2000 was a great year people don’t talk about
It's cause they didn't win it all and how bad they played in the super bowl. Which is sad cause like you said it was a great year.
The only talk of the big apple 🍎 were the Yankees & Knicks in 2000
Why would anyone want to talk about how their team got blown out in the SB in the end?

As a giants knicks and Yankees fan....times were good in 2000.
man when see these old videos it brings me to tears
I'm not even a Giants fan but I love stuff like this. This is awesome.

He had a Canon!!! Super strong 💪 arm!!!!!!
I modeled my throwing motion from watching Kerry Collins. Still one of my favorite QBs of all time.
His throwing motion makes me throw the ball farther
Kerry Collins what helpful for our team.
Kerry Collins used to throw a perfect spiral with a slow arm release, he was the man
Best ball thrower in Giants history
That 2000 season was special no doubt.
Rip Jim
This team will always have a special place..regardless of the lost in the super bowl to a great team ..history friends history
5:49 Who knew this guy Dan Campbell would be leading the Detroit Lions as Head Coach
Kerry .. with Amani...Ike...Tiki..Dayne...and eventually Shockey was a fun offfense.
Kerry was an underrated QB. I don't think he was appreciated when he played for us.
He was inconsistent as hell! He had a cannon for an arm and that's it.

How did this team did not go back to the Super Bowl a year after they got wrecked by the Ravens. It was a great team on both sides of the football.
Kerry sounds like Peyton Manning🤔
He does

Kerry Collins wanted out because he didn't want to stay for just one more year so Eli can take over. Plus after 2003 he was pretty much a lame duck.
